So lets see here... Brevik does an interview, and makes some subtle jabs at D3... the current Game head (Jay Wilson) hears it, and responds with "F*** that loser"... So instantly he is a horrible piece of human excrement and deserves to be burned at the stake and the corpse shot repeatedly with a high powered rifle??

Seriously, you people hating on him have some issues. If you dislike Diablo 3, then do not play it. If you want it improved, then suggest things, or intelligently point out flaws and ask for suggestions to fix them from others in the community. Jay Wilson bashing does not change the game...

Insulting him, calling for his firing and the enormous variety of other tortures people wish upon him do nothing but make you look like a truly twisted and immature child. He made (or did not make) a remark that clearly shows anger. And do not give the whole "He works for blizzard he has to behave a certain way or we lambast him"...

You dedicate time and effort to something, you even show appreciate to those that came before you.. then have one of those that you thanked turn around and say "I was kinda happy when you failed"...tell me how much smiling would you have then? What kind word would come from your mouth... If you remarks on these forums are any indication then it would most assuredly make the wilson remark look quite kind and loving.

So stop stalking a game developer, either play the game or dont... but seriously... you are stalking... you are getting really creepy about it all to feed this hate of 1 man that has done absolutely nothing to you...
I fucking lost it there, 10/10.

People might actually take you serious

    I know, right?

We probably won't hear from Blizzard either way, unless the forums explode about it.

Wonder how he can say, "Fuck that loser", when that "loser's" brain baby is putting his meals on the table. Maybe Jay has daddy issues.

I can see where they may have thought it would work, but it clearly didn't. 11 years of development, and the players found out for them within a few months.

So they had an idea... a slight change... that didn't work, was identified by the players, acknowledged by the devs, and fixed all within 2 1/2 months of launch.

Sounds like something we probably should bitch about more. Damn them bastards!

No, we should continue to make excuses for them. Damn those who call a spade a spade!

So you don't think no DR on MF is that big of a deal?

It's like they went backwards in that regard is what I'm saying. I know the the levels of MF in D2 were much higher, and they probably thought that if they limited the max available MF to a lower number they would be fine. It didn't work out that way.

I can see where they may have thought it would work, but it clearly didn't. 11 years of development, and the players found out for them within a few months.

Well there's a difference between a Diminishing Return and a Cap. Now I'm not sure how much MF you could get in regular diablo 2, it is true you could get insane numbers of MF with LoD. Of course, without knowing the inate drop rate of items, it's hard to say if the 300% is sufficent or not. Of course this is just paragon+gear, with NF you can get 375% and a shrine will make that 400%. This is, of course, still lower than LoD in regards to pure MF percentage, but it doesn't seem to suffer from a Diminishing Return like Diablo 2's MF did. At least, no one has put up any numbers to substantiate this claim.

Like I said earlier in another thread, I'll give the patch a shot. If it's still bad (in my opinion), then that will probably be it.

There are other things I don't like about the game, that won't change, such as the story and Diablo's voice, so it's not just the loot that gives me a bad taste for it. But, I'm willing to try because I want it to be a good game. I want to have fun with it.

That said, I still don't like Jay.

    Here's the point:

    Diablo 2 - 99 levels.
Diablo 3 - "We aren't going to do 99 levels. We're going to do 60."
    Patch 1.0.4 - "Okay, here's 100 more levels."

Diablo 2 - No DR on MF at launch. Patch gave DR to MF.
Diablo 3 - No DR on MF at launch. They will remove MF entirely.

They aren't removing it, they're makign it easier to get while helping players stay powerful while having it. They are trying to move away from MF ON GEAR but it will still exist on your character. Since it will take some time to get these levels, you still have reasons for having a MF set untill paragon level 100. This is also on a per-character basis so any alts you have will enjoy the MF as well.

You still won't admit they made the same mistake, 11 years later.

Diablo 3 had DR on MF at launch...

Diablo 3 currently has no diminishing returns on magic find.

What Jay meant to say: "We know you all wanted to work on leveling to 99 while looking for lootz, but we dropped that ball. So here's 100 more levels for you! Also, we have no earthly idea how the team at Blizzard North made their magic find system work so flawlessly, so here's some MF with those levels, so we can remove MF from items, because we are clueless of how to make it work."

Flawlessly? OMFG just go and head on back to D2 already.

I'm sure you are going to tell what what was so bad about it. I'll wait...

Yeah...not so much. Also, regarding the comment made that it was the fastest selling PC title, I'm pretty sure I could've pressed dog shit into a circle and put that in a case labelled "Diablo 3" and it would've sold. Delusional

Would it still be topping out PC sales months later too?

Yeah, keep that dream alive kiddo.

Yes. There are so many other games to choose from...

Bottom line is what he said. ANY game could have been released with the name "Diablo 3" from Blizzard Entertainment, and it would have sold millions. That's all there is to it.

IF you don't believe that, take a trip to Whimsyshire...

The D2 magic find system was far from perfect for a very long time. There was even a bug untill 1.08 fixed it where the MF system would punish you for having over 149% MF.

Honestly it feels like everyone who posts that D2 was so much better in so many ways tends to forget that it wasn't like that at the start.

Addition: Looking back at patch notes, Magic Find might not have even worked on chests and items found by barbarians with their find item skill. It's funny the things we forget.

    It's funny how Diablo 2 was released June 29, 2000.Diablo 2: LoD was released June 27, 2001. Diablo 3 was release May 15, 2012.

That the same (or similar) "issues" exist at the release of the game, 11 years later, is laughable. It shows a lack of experience with the genre. Look, if I knew that 11 years ago we put out a game that had "X, Y, and Z" problems, the last thing I would do would be to reproduce "X, Y, and Z" problems.

You mention the "MF fix" with the diminishing returns and what-not. Let me ask you, if you knew that before the MF fix there was a problem, necessitating a fix, then why would you re-create that problem on purpose? It's asinine.

It's like saying you know movies were in black and white when they first came out, but we learned how to make them color, so we went back to black and white on purpose, only to turn right around and put it into color.

They said getting to Paragon level 100 will take roughly the same amount of time that it did to get to level 99 in Diablo 2. How many of you have level 99s?

I imagine it will take about 30-45 hours TOPS to get to level 100 Paragon.

Yeah. Good luck with that. The paragon levels is most perverse grinding system I've ever seen.

"We heard to want to grind, so you can grind while you grind."
