To be honest the only problem I have with the AH at the moment is a lot of time when people do go for the snipe at the less than 10 secs left on timer the AH gets overloaded and you error out of the item, thus it never changed to what the current new bid is and you have no way to counter snipe. Thus it makes it a risky business sometimes, especially if you really want the item for an upgrade and not just something to resell.
Just type the max gold/money you're willing to spend. You'll either get it or you won't, regardless of counter snipes. I do often put a ten million snipe if I feel the item is worth it even if the current bid would be only 3-4 millions.
Jul 17, 2012Also, it's pretty evident that a hard close leads to a higher price than a soft close. In a hard close people will bid up to the price they are willing to pay, and if they don't get the item, it wasn't worth the gold anyways (in their opinion) and some bugger didn't get the item cheap. In case the price people are willing to pay is too low, someone is going to snipe the auction.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Jul 17, 2012Just a friendly reminder, you can bid on your own auctions if you think the price is too low and you think someone is going to snipe it off. At worst you'll lose the 15% transaction fee if no-one overbids you.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Also, I highly advice against using a bid auction in most situations. People are generally willing to pay a premium for a buyout when looking for upgrades, so that they can just get the item and be back to kicking demon butt. Bids WILL go for less than buyouts since the only reason to place a bid is to try to get either something that has no equivalents with a buyout or get something cheaper than with a buyout. If you're unsure about the pricing of your item, place a buyout at a price point you find fair, then put a bid at ~20-30% lower, so that if you overpriced, someone might still bid and get the item at 70-80% of the buyout. Then if no-one bids, you'll know that even ~80% is stretching it for the item you have.

Only star do. Anything below is overpriced. I guess people may still buy them though if theyre desperate.
Is there a reason why anyone would socket anything below a star :D? Or try to convert gold into cash, for that matter? Seing as even a star is only ~600k on EU.
I've sold some spare gems I had for a couple ten euros on the EU RMAH (~10M gold?), but haven't tried selling them in large scale.
On a related topic, this game is too darn easy. I was already past 100 million gold before I ditched half of it on upgrades for my barb.

It saved my first summer job out of boredom, the summer of 2004 was filled with boring songs, but Franz Ferdinand's hit single Take Me Out was catchy.
Jul 16, 2012Don_guillotine posted a message on Rate Your Favorite TV Shows - The General TV Discussion ThreadI second what has been said about Lost. I myself actually lost interest gradually during the third season. The series just started to feel like it was prolonged for the sake of its popularity for more than the content warranted for.Posted in: General Discussion
I actually found Big Bang Theory a while ago (it was my little sister watching it, but now I see it has been mentioned in this thread already). Nerd humor is always awesome, and the acting is superior for a comedy show (I'm stupefied as to how Jim Parsons can play Sheldon without cracking up all the time).
I generally like series that have the grace of ending when the story elements have been explored thoroughly and the only reason to continue would be to milk viewers with B-grade content until the show would be axed. HBO gets a star medal for this, I don't feel that any of it's productions have been dragged on for longer than they warranted for.

There's still some gear left to sell. May not bother, at the moment it's about 32 mill. I don't know if that's considered a lot or not, with the inflation.
Buy gems with the gold, put gems into RMAH. Those sell rather good.

Other offers will be considered.
Jul 12, 2012As stated above, I see how long similar items have been up for auction. The more they have been unsold for, the more I'll undercut. I also undercut more in cheaper items. There is no point for me to put up a 200k item that doesn't possibly sell when I can put it for 100-120k and use that AH spot for something better. On the other hand I won't undercut a 100M item by more than 5-10M. Commodities I don't undercut, but list at the "last 10 trades" price and relist if it doesn't sell within an hour.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I also list my items higher than the cheapest one quite often, when I judge that mine is worth more than the cheapest based on good secondary stats.

But the difficulty is only achieved through cheap-shots:Posted in: News
- Less resistance on characters (-100 all).
- More resistances and thus immunities on monsters.
I don't really get all the incessant whine about DIII.
Diablo II had a lot of stupid design flaws in it (granted, we're talking of a game released in 2001) and the game was absurdly hollow after beating the story mode and all difficulties (improve gear ad nauseam, PvP). The skill system was too unforgiving and the itemization horribly designed (rarity and quality had little correlation).
Diablo III is a new game building on the legacy, not Diablo II and half.
PS: I was one of the "richest" players in EU, played DII for more hours than I care to think of (hundreds after hundreds) and with a more hardcore attitude than I can understand in retrospect, yet I bloody loved the beta content and Diablo III is seeming to be a better game than number II.
Apr 30, 2012The video (posted by Lixada) was the class announcement video in 2008 BlizzCon. There's a similar one for the monk and the demon hunter.Posted in: News
All in all, I don't think this class spotlight was as good as the other ones (barb, wd, monk mainly, the dh was weak as well IMO). Right now still undecided between a barb and a wiz as a first class to play. Tried both in the beta and both were immensely fun, but having trouble extrapolating their play experience to later difficulties.
I guess a gut feeling will decide for me.

Dec 20, 2011Overall the new layout is much more functional. The color scheme needs further tuning and the red bars might need some further thought into them. Also the information below avatars could resemble the old layout a bit more (location, join date, b.net account, etc.)Posted in: News
Oh wait, I openly said my honest opinion.
Say goodbye guys, next thing I know I'll be abducted and wake up in an isolated shack filled with opossums with rabies while being ******** by a mega-corporation run by the reptilian master race from outer space.
In all honesty, the layout will continue to be tweaked as time goes by, just chill out and enjoy the upcoming holidays.

But don't fail to see my point anyway. I hate all the, "We're changing this, we're revising this" news. Blizzard needs to go under the radar and just finish their damn game and stop making all these incremental updates to the public.
I prefer knowing. After waiting over ten years a timescale of months is irrelevant to me. I want to know changes.
Besides, the news staff is making news, Blizzard (Bashiok) is just answering questions on the official forums.

Hey guys, what minor D3 news can we release to the public this week to try and get people to keep caring about the game?
Derrrr, let's talk about Runestones.....
Come on, hype machine! *kick* Work better, dammit!
These runestone effects weren't released by Blizzard. They were datamined from an emulated beta server by fans not affiliated with Blizzard.

Actually, items lose durability like in D2 (but slower), I was informed about in the middle of a fight with Leoric.
That's weird :D, my items are always full durability. Maybe I just don't ever get hit enough.
Dec 6, 2011Besides, items only take a durability hit when you die. They don't lose durability when you hit/are hit unlike in DII (at least in the beta). That would make ethereal items kinda pointless.Posted in: News

Bashiok just seems to rub me the wrong way and yet again he's stuck a chord with his comment.
I get that he's trying to be funny, but why has Blizzard allowed him to carry on with his unprofessional and childish behavior for so long is beyond me.
Dunno, it's not like he's the customer representative for some company with a lot of professional customers. He's a community manager for a game company with majority of customers being gamers. It's kinda expected of him to not be overly serious, since that'd strike a chord, too, in the majority of the gamers reading those forums.
Nov 28, 2011It should also be noted that the exact value you get out of the enchantment is random, they talked of this in the last BlizzCon, but it probably isn't reflected in the game files yet.Posted in: News
This will definitely be an awesome gold sink.
