i'm under the category of the "very unique names". using the real one on facebook, though, and people can see me in the "i play WoW" application too i guess. wouldnt be too different for the forums either. the only thing they would achieve, would be the thing they said they planned when they announced battle.net 2. "uniting the fan bases" so its not just Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft. now its gonna be "Blizzard". And the one thing they would make easier will be to make it easier for us to identify a person... as a person and not as a character. so i wont have to be looked at as Fanya/Aragul/whatever when playing WoW and Fingolfin.noldore when playing StarCraft II or whatever character name i choose to pick when i play Diablo 3. and my friends will still be able to identify my posts on the forums.

that said, i'll say something i'm not 100% certain about (if someone knows more it will be welcome) but i think that still in-game people will only be able to see your real-id if and only you confirm them as real-id friends. which in most cases is more than enough cause the majority of the users dont post much on the forums.

anyway, i'd still prefer them to give us the option. being forced to do something never felt good.

What you're talking about sounds great except it has NOTHING to do with showing your real names.

You know, I have an internet identity. SFJake is what I use most of the times, while character names are just that, character names. Linking games together? Look at Steam. No one has any clue who I REALLY am, but everyone can find me between games and such, always under the same name. The whole real ID thing and having to show your name for that is a complete joke. This should be possible without it.

Geeze, quite the temper for a developer. I've been "developing" games since I was like 12 too. Unless you truly are a professional game developer. But that doesn't matter, even if you are, you really went for the childish insults here especially with the "I hope you die" part. Thats just too much, man.

Heh. I like hardcore and I'd play hardcore, but include something like that and I'm out. That sounds horribly lame. There is absolutely nothing fun in getting hits and losing stats permanently, even less when thats every hit from that monster.

Besides this has nothing to do with adding tactics to the game. You could have semi-permanent buffs instead, something that requires going back to town to heal (assuming town portals are out). A lot of debuffs could add tactics, a lot of special attacks from enemies can add tactics, etc. Permanent stat lost is far from tactical to me. Its just too punishing for too little.

Same as PvE or PvP. You NEED to play PvP to get some items? And if this follows the retarded WoW trends of having certain very good items for PvE only obtainable in PvP, it gets worse.

I don't disagree with giving the PvP folks a way to gain money or something just by doing PvP, but exclusive gear for different "settings" is a no from me.

They are part of the game. They are used regularly. And nobody has talked of a patch about fixing that. I don't know if there are mods where TPs and potions do not exist...

I do try sometimes to play without them, because thats a thing I do (mostly without potions).. I do it for myself, for my own fun, because I like it... and yes, completing the game like that is pretty much impossible... so where your other arguments came from, I have no idea.

And by the way, you're obviously in front of someone with an attitude problem (me), and you're obviously showing one, too. I'm standing on my point that you shouldn't be already on the "offensive crap and semi-insulting" attitude or whatever, when there's no need for it.

I won't be speaking for anybody else, but I personally couldn't give less of a damn about how good my character is compared to anybody else (ladders might as well not exist for me).

If I play hardcore, I play for the thrill, the feeling you get when you barely escape death, etc. Knowing that my death is not a permanent one takes from that feeling, even if I can decide -myself- to just delete him at that point. But the option exist and always existed just for that. No one should be playing hardcore if they don't want to risk losing the character.

I do have a lot of games where I "fake" hardcore, that is I just -delete- my game or my saves when I die, but I say the feeling is better when you know you can't -cheat- your way out.

The route of my pissed-offery doesn't stem from offline play being removed alone. It's Blizzard's additude and mentality toward this game and it's community and their obssession with making money and preventing piracy while hiding under the guise of convenience. They are stripping away players rights and options for how we choose to play or enjoy a game we're paying for. They are applying the same strict control methods seen only in pay to play or cash shop mmorpgs; yet the game isn't. They are forcing everyone to play on the servers they strictly control... Preventing offline play, banning modding, preventing lan and a real cash auction house are disgusting.

As for mods. Hellfire for Diablo 1 was a fanbased mod; there are countless mods for Diablo 2... Blizzard stated early on mods would not be supported for Diablo 3 but if players wanted to make mods "power to them" it was still ok. Now this has had a dramatic reverse where mods are now against policy and terms of service.

The thing about offline mode, mods would have been limited to offline mode. You could still create singleplayer offline mods; with the removal of offline mode this will become impossible since battle.net is the only way you can play the game. Because anyone not playing on battle.net means potentially less revenue for Blizzard through the auction house.

And no I won't by this game. I'll stick with Torchlight 2 until private servers start popping up for Diablo 3; but I will no longer support or respect Blizzard as they have chosen not to support or respect their fan-base time and time again.

Square-Enix was a large video game company responsible for some of the most popular games ever created; but they became too complacent and arrogant while turning their backs on their fans and have gone into a spiraling downfall because of it.

And quit being another hostile dumb ass nerd defending these changes. It only empowers Blizzard to continue to screw over the community. It amuses me how some people defend Blizzard like it's a religion.

While it has been said before, here is one more piece of concrete evidence that there will be no class in Diablo III dedicated just to healing or any other utility.

Blizzard has stated from the beginning that they are making Diablo III with cooperative play as its main stage. With cooperative play comes forming parties or groups. However, unlike a very famous Blizzard MMO, players will not have to worry about looking for a healer to form a party and complete certain obstacles. Blizzard wants every class to be able to destroy the demons of Hell whether they are in a group or the player is enjoying Single Player.

While no class is dedicated to healing or support, this is not to say that each class is not without some skills to help out themselves or their group stay alive as Bashiok mentioned. The Barbarian has skills like Strong Constitution and Death Proof to help keep him alive along with a slew shouts and battle cries to help out his group. The Witch Doctor has Jungle Fortitude to give him some extra HP and has Horrify and Mass Confusion to aid his allies. From the few skills revealed for the Monk, it is easy to see how he can help his group stay alive with Inner Sanctuary and Radiant Visage. Even the offensive heavy Wizard has Conjured Health to gain some need HP and Slow Time to help party members.

Along with no healing class, Blizzard has also removed the accessibility of potions for the player. They have created many more mechanics to help characters to constantly stay in the action of this game. Health Globes will help player heal as they continue to fight. The have also added checkpoints for when you do die and a co-op resurrection system. While some Hardcore Players may face a harder challenge without potions and no healing class, it is the challenge that keeps people playing Hardcore.

So for all of you who continue the fight against healers in Diablo III, you can rest. There will be no healing class in Diablo III.

The big deal is that a lack of dedicated servers is having a negative impact on competitive gaming. There are, of course, other reasons, and some good general overviews can be found here and here.

Basically, this is all just a slap in the face to PC users; the series wouldn't be what it is today without the support of PC users.

Same here. I've never played CoD4 and wasn't too into this game since it's multiplayer mainly and I'm just not into multiplayer FPS, but this is ridiculous...

And worst of all, people will buy this game. And they will realize they can limit the player in each and every way and still get their money back.
