Wait, so we're talking about names that are not so specific so that their effects on the skills are not always the same (such as the multi strike example)...
...and then we go on about how Golden would just add gold/magic find or other extremely specific (and very boring) changes?
I mean come on. Added mf or gold find is the worst idea of the year on a rune. Also just changing damage into another element makes little sense at all?
Nevermind the fact that this has no versatility whatsoever. Why are we trying to put such specific effects on the runes when we JUST LEARNED of new names given to the runes for flexibility?
And If any runes do make such simple boring changes in the end, I'll be really disappointed. Runes are like, the only special interesting things they have introduced yet and that has lots of potential. But there's no potential or part of runes that I care about if they have such boring changes as "Golden make your skill give more mf/gold find and thats it. How could anyone stand for that? :/

Apr 21, 2010SFJake posted a message on Battle.net Banhammer Poised for ActionVery nice, Blizzard. How exactly do you confirm if an account is worth banning? I guess you don't need much? And what if a bot or whatever uses a cd-key from someone else?Posted in: News
Mass banning is stupid. And the reasons are vague. Its just for stopping hacks and stuff? Yeah, sure. Like thats gonna make a difference. Ban as many as you want, you'll never stop them all. Its inevitable that you will catch some people that don't deserve to be banned, but you probably don't give a shit about that. -

Blizzard implement "drop unshared" to prevent anyone to try to get the advantage first !! I think strongly they'll keep in that way...

I really doubt !! everything seem to be for "team-play" : orb heal everyone like shrine effect everyone, They have a reason why, so they won't make something else who does the same thing as the shrines (repeated) in a different way. I think only items and some skills will buff only yourself...Quote from SFJake
Power up orbs would be interesting, if they only worked on one person, and for a relatively short time compared to shrines, but giving significant boost for the duration.
Geeze, forbid that anything in the entire game doesn't involve just one player in particular, and anyway since when does -powerups on a single person- means less team work?
If anything, it encourages less team work, at least less CARING about your team if everything is ever automatically distributed to everybody.
That some orbs gives small boost discourage team work is getting to the level of -sad- here. It shouldn't have anything to do with that, especially not very short boosts.
But hey, its not like D3 online with random people will ever be any more interesting than in D2. -

There were shrines in D1! Back then they only gave a direct effect instead of a temporary buff, eg turning all your health/mana potions rejuvenation potions.
On Topic:
It's nice to see that shrine buffs are shared. Me and a friend have equal levelled characters we play via LAN, and we avoid experience shrines to keep our levels together. Having the shrine affect the entire group you'll all feel powerful, instead of just that one person.
I'm quite indifferent to the absence of buff scrolls et all. I'm more like Bashiok that I rarely use that stuff since I never know when I might really need it.
Same. Actually though, his example of WoW is probably the only game where I even used buff items often and that was with raids, because you already at your peak and you need all you can get to get through the raids, so buff items could make a difference.
In pretty much any other games though, I always wonder when I should use them. I can enjoy them though if they can allow me to beat say, a boss that just destroyed me. Try again, buff up a little, and then you have a chance to beat it. The buffs need to be pretty strong though.
The only problem is that if they indeed take up precious inventory space, it can get annoying, but done well could have been an interesting thing for just the time where you can't get through some place in the game.
By the way, never liked shrines. I don't know why. The feeling they give me suck, and I only wish I had the shrine I want when I need it. And I never wanted that god damn floating icon above my character. That they buff everyone is nice, but I frankly don't care at all, shrines are meaningless to me.
Power up orbs would be interesting, if they only worked on one person, and for a relatively short time compared to shrines, but giving significant boost for the duration. -

This is pretty insane, though. The more stuff you move online, the more stress on their servers.
This isn't just a bunch of servers that players can host. Blizzard having to handle that much additional crap to send to players for hacking prevention only seems pretty insane.
I'm not saying the solution makes no sense, but its a costly one. -

I wonder if it may be some sort of issue with the game trying to access a file that the OS is preventing.
Meh, thanks for trying but I'm just giving up anyway. I don't have the patience to get anywhere if I can't test the class and thats another issue with the mod: No damn way to cheat and even get a feel of things. So I already lost interest. -

Yeah, fresh install, with or without plugy (had plugy at first), still randomly crashes.
No idea whats up with that. Using LoD 1.11b.
I never get any error. The game just instantly closes itself and then nothing. -

But only pirates will see it.

*they get the full game and it'll be the exact same*
*happens with so many things in any beta i've seen*.
So what about we stop using that excuse to try and end a discussion prematurely, uh?
Items just feel a lot worse in this game in general. I totally get the "tangible" feeling he's talking about. They just don't feel the same at all.

Why?
Because farming is stupid.
Blizzard got the idea that designing anything in the game around such a stupid concept as farming wasn't good.

But for consoles? The values of everything is dropping but everybody knows they'll be paying extravagant prices on release for less than before.
Consoles are such an archaic, overpriced bullshit in the first place.
Music is an entire different things. The internet has brought so many wonders to us. And the internet as well as games in general have one word we have yet to understand: sharing. You either understand that we live in a world ever more sharing, or you prioritize profits and go back to the pathetic stone age of capitalism.
There are still musicians making a living: plenty of them. People give money to whom they love. There are places to buy music easier than ever and support the musician you love DIRECTLY. I mean, what, they got 5 cents from you buying in a store, now they get a much bigger part of the profit. Things just change. But it was NEVER easy for musicians to make ANY sort of living. It was always excruciatingly hard. I'd dare say now, with YouTube, with the sharing, its much easier to be known and eventually, much easier to maybe do something great, and become something.
And any musician that went into it for the money is a complete and utter moron, by the way. You choose Art or you choose Money. You don't choose both.

I wanted to run through the games again. I ran through ME1 again: saw the potential. Then I played ME2 a bit and it hit me:
This series is a failure. Its epic in its non-interesting, shallow, non-replayable kind of way. I admit, hearing about ME3's didn't quite help. I'm not even bothering. Bioware is a laughing stock now.

A few pre-determined quest reward that everybody can get = customization? You are referring to "consumable" items of any kind that gives something permanent, right?
Just having them is no customization. Maybe some quests will give permanent rewards like those, we don't know. However they won't be giving you anything to "spend", since there is -nothing to spend-.
0
That sounds like a pretty stupid reason. Subtlety in details are what makes games great. Shoving them in people's face changes everything. Mind you I don't really care about this in particular.

Uh, no, it won't. I'll play it from beginning to end, with friends, with multiple classes. Then you're pretty much done. I'll be moving on. And come back to D3 when expansions hit.
I still have no idea what the hell can keep people playing a game like this so long and feel like nothing else is worth experiencing. Its kind of sad, actually. This isn't even an MMO where you're never really done. This is a game where after a few months, you are actually, completely done. Its like watching a show over and over 10 times and you still wouldn't watch something else. Move on, for god's sakes.
When I'm fully done with D3, I'd be very happy for T2 to hit the shelves so I can see something new and different.

These were pointed out already I guess, but I'll just point out what personally bothers me:
-Very low stacks. It basically brings back boss runs because of it, doesn't it? I thought the point of this would have been having people going all over the place. This certainly doesn't do that. It just means you have to kill champions in the way to the boss. Its better than not having it but... plus, if it doesn't reset after a boss, then you just go straigth to other bosses? Not sure how this plays out ultimately but its not -quite- what I had in mind.
-I still see no point whatsoever in a time limit on something that goes out when you leave the game. Make me get it Blizzard, there's no reason.
-I can't possibly agree that one person changing skill in a group penalizes everyone heavily. Thats just dumb.
0
Your definition of having a brain is agreeing with your non-sense.
There isn't even a semblant of permanent choices that this make at all. It does not affect the leveling process, it does not even affect how most people would have been playing end game.
I don't expect you to understand anything further than that. I am NOT for absolutely permanent characters, but the game should reward proper building of a character and using what you have.
Where is the satisfaction of building a character? A lot of it was lost and you probably don't care but most importantly, I don't think you have the ability to even understand it. Like someone that cannot understand challenge and hardships presents rewards and satisfaction from it. Absolute freedom of manoeuvre makes this game shallower.
But I'm sure I'm talking way too dumb for you to comprehend the meaning of rewards in diversity. Apparently, everybody loves to be hand-fed every possibility. Imagine a game with 2 completely different endings and different routes to this. Current generation of gaming dictates that you should just be able to -switch- to the other ending for the sake of it.
Forced repetition through builds absolutely set in stone that can't accept any mistake whatsoever (like D2 mostly was) = too much.
But the absolute opposite, while better, is by no means ideal, and much was lost. Can you see that? I don't expect you to.

Its a band aid solution that fixes nothing.
Some level of permanency shouldn't need to be encouraged, it should just be.
This changes almost nothing on that regard. I'm not saying its not nice to have, but its not even a solution to that at all.
