Jul 16, 2009Puttah posted a message on Inventory Bags ExplainedIncreasing the inventory bags as you progress through the game would significantly cut down the use of mules. Sure, early in the game you pick up all the crap to sell for money for tp's and pots etc. but everything you pick up is basically junk and you have no reason to create a mule to hold your extra (crap) goodies. Later in the game you pick up uniques that can't just be sold off or thrown away, so without an increased inventory space it inevitably leads to mule creations and many pointlessly wasted hours of drop-trading.Posted in: News

No. It does make sense!Quote from "Ivaron" »I don't understand. Bashiok is talking about limited inventory space as if it's a good thing. What the hell?
This game is about killing stuff and collecting loot. Why on earth would you want to limit the amount of loot we can carry in the first place? It doesn't make sence.
If you don't agree with this... well... maybe the best decision you could make is >>>Quote from Bashiok »Beginning with a small and limited amount of space teaches the player early on that inventory management is an important part of playing the game - and sometimes generating income.
Making and keeping the player aware of their limitations can also help keep a better sense of structure and focus. Being overwhelmed is sometimes as detrimental to a play experience as being bored.Quote from "Ivaron" »I know I'm gonna sound like a whiney little kid and no-one is going to care, but this is one of those things that makes me think I might not want to buy the game. -

If they do introduce micro-payments then I hope they don't have any effect on gameplay, as that would create an imbalanced playing field between people who pay and people who don't. I would rather have 100% of people paying than it being imbalanced by optional paying
An imbalance is inevitable with the invention of ebay and all. I'm on the non-paying player side and of course don't like this, but what can we do? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Rofl I'm sure alexiskool was using the term "you" to target the entire diablo community, not just special little you

from your experience huh? Then is MUST be true!
finally, bullshit.
Rather than arguing, teaching you the concepts of probability should save both of us the time and trouble. Unless of course you can back up your statements a little better than "from my experience", such as specific codes in the game, or cited sources from Blizzard?

What does bring down the economy though is the use of automated programs that can MF run 24/7.

But really, even though my dial-up and pentium II computer back in the days of D2 was inadequate to ever catch a unique in a full game (and yes this would piss me off to the point that I wouldnt even try), I always felt that was an essential part of such a game.
However, other than that, you wont hear me complaining about implementing this system

Does the loot from each monster drop and replicate itself for every character on the party/game to pick up individually, or is the loot randomized to only appear on a certain player's screen?

Basically, the tighter Blizz pulls the rope on this, the harder it would be to make transactions and thus there will be way less activity on the subject.
The little kid couldn't be stopped from using their lunch money to buy it from a fellow little mate, but this little kid won't have the variety or stock that the entire net can provide. Transactions would be limited as a result.
I still think Blizz hasn't tried putting a stop to this because, realistically, they are a company and making the most for the business is their ultimate goal. They're willing to sacrifice the enjoyment of a few people, to have many more continue to play the game.

Are you kidding me? Maybe playing a game is more stress-relieving, but I can assure you each hour you spend MF grinding is always going to come in second best vs. the items you could buy from each hour working a job - which, I think could often be more interesting as it provides variety (don't hold me against it), while grinding is basically the same repetitive task over and over.
If it were legal/ethical, rather than going out and perfecting my MF gear to increase productivity, I would definitely start working on making cash to buy items online.
As genesis has said, auto programs also ruin this game.

If MF is to be removed, then there wont be any reason to wear pathetically weak armours and weapons. Hence, it is still possible to grind bosses with the ultimate goal of hopefully MFing, but at the same time, you would have proper gear and can take on the tougher creatures, and leveling more effectively in the end as well.
Also, since MF gear was always so weak that only the long-range characters, and preferably spell casters were used for MFing. i.e. the sorceress (not counting the MF chars with merc as primary killer). Without MF gear we wouldn't have this problem of a spammed server with sorc mfers.

Seriously, us MFers just love to perfect our characters, which yes, are barely ever used lol.

Yes, I agree with you, it would be ridiculous to make D3 P2P when starcraft isn't. Thanks, my fears have been cleared.

Now I know that is very repetitive too, but really because it is for another cause (items rather than levels), it puts us in another mind-set and gives us a bit of a breather.
For the weaker characters that still have dungeons to explore, acts to progress through etc. it would be ridiculous to consider MF running. The usual - use the good items that you happen to accidentally find along the way - routine is perfectly accepetable.

Working in real life isn't always fun, but the reward of cash keeps us coming back Same goes for MF.

Revenue? Definitely yes.
