Edit: as a suggestion, if you want to have a decent discussion on whether the number of skills is appropriate of if people want more, try doing it without the whole "lame reasons" and pointing fingers before people even started replying.

I wish they had gone the Torchlight II path, with offline mode, direct IP, no serious economy (because of what that causes to the game), and a more informal approach to how seriously most people take the Diablo franchise.

If people want to mod the game, let them be. Some people have a lot of fun with that and sometimes it keeps the game alive for years. Yes, it means cheating and no matchmaking functionality, but I believe it's easier to handle that than all the problems they're having.

Would've probably made everything a lot easier, and less stressful. Not worrying about server maintenance, isp/dns compatibility, RMAH expert security, splitting codes into client/server-side, dealing with all the controversy.

Maybe on an alternate reality =/

Are you positive you wanna bring up Valve to a PR debate? Like, really? It's one of the companies with the most amount of delays and problems in PRs to date.

The whole Half Life 2 issue - "we're gonna split it into 3 episodes, and release one each year", fail number 1. The whole Left 4 Dead issue - "we're gonna update it as much as possible", bzzz, fail number 2, L4D2 was released less than a year after the first and L4D had almost 0 updates/patches.

DotA 2 had a ton of months without a single piece of news (except "changelog" leaks from the people invited to the International), and the only reason it had some news now is because Icefrog knows how damaging it can be to not talk to fans (since he was a gamer himself) and because everyone was expecting the beta to begin a month ago, and yet it's going to take another 6 months for them to even release the unfinished version used in the tournament.

BF 3 only wants that much beta attention because of the whole MW3 vs BF3 battle. They want to recover as many people lost in the past games to other shooter franchises (GoW, Halo) due to crappy PR. And they're only doing that because they know what most mainstream gamers think -> "beta = early access to the game, so I can tell my friends. lulz!".

I'm not saying Blizzard is doing everything perfectly. They delay games too (all of them?). They almost fail at delivering patches (hi, 1.13) and the way they're handling this specific beta is bad imho, giving away a lot of keys to press sites like gamespot and kind of ignoring fansites who kept the hype alive for all these years.

But I wouldn't at all put those other companies in a pedestal and pretend they're much better. Those a far from good examples of great PR to me.

Having a kick feature is the lesser of 2 evils. If you don't have it, you're guaranteed to see a lot of griefing and people can be assholes without even thinking about it, specially when they already have the gear from another character and are just playing to crap on other's games.

Also, given the nature of how partying works, requiring more than 1 vote would be redundant, as the host could be playing with a friend and they could kick you.

If anything, they should add a report option similar to Starcraft 2, if you were kicked unfairly right before or during a boss fight (maybe because they thought you were too weak and wanted a weaker boss/faster boos run) you could report the guys for griefing.

Are you f*cking kidding me Blizzard? Are you serious? After all these years, we finally found out that the chat gem was a planned feature from day 1 that would ranodmize builds for Diablo 3, and you give us another one of those? You want us all to go crazy???

Once upon a time there was Blizzard and it was financed by porting games for other companies. Then they were bought by Davidson and Associates for $6 mil. Then Davidson and Associates was bought by CUC International. CUC then merged with HFS Corporation, but then they were accused of fraud, lost 80% of stock value and sold their software operations (including Blizzard) to Havas. Havas was bought by Vivendi. Then Vivendi bought Activision.

The highest people in the food chain have controlled Blizzard since the time of StarCraft and Diablo II. Activision was _merged_ with Blizzard to ease entity operations for the previously called "Vivendi games" division, while the 2 companies remain separated by operations. Now Activision takes orders from those same people that gave orders to Blizzard circa 1998.

In the end of the day the 2 companies have the same stock holders and answer on a single conference call while both working separately and answering to a single executive entity. Sounds to me more like Blizzard's bosses bought Activision. Isn't it kind of the other way around then?

I mean no disrespect but.....what you just said there is pretty darn silly. Diablo is no MMO. It is supposed to be about who has the best gear. Whether you have no life and played 12 hours a day to get your gear, played for 3 hours a night after work for a year to get your gear or you whipped out your bank account for your gear...........Diablo is, has been and hopefully always will be about the gear.
