Quote fromYeah, okay. I'm definitely not familiar with Blizzard. I definitely haven't played all their games. I definitely haven't waited for all their games. I know how it goes, I don't need you sitting there spewing fanboy flame at me because I insinuated something negative about all-mighty Blizzard. Last thing I need is someone like yourself talking down to me. Get over yourself.
I have to agree here. Sure blizz takes the time to get things right but they should also have, over the many years, gained experience to know how long things take. By not announcing what is in the patch we don't know if they are horrifically off estimate because they last minute added tons of stuff or because they are just slow and/or lazy. I'm thinking it's the latter.
I hope we all agree that a content patch on a 10 year old game is amazing but if this is indicative of d3 dev time then we are all in for a painfully long wait - even considering it's "farther along than you think"
I'll wait until the patch is released to judge if I owe blizz an apology or a whole lot of qq. The sad thing is that no matter how much blizz jerks us around we all still buy and play to no end d3. Why? Because you simply cannot get the blizz experience anywhere else.

I dunno about Morden but I was making a genuine suggestion not trying to be a smartass.

I dont understand whats hard about the concept but I'll try to elaborate. This is especially relevant for people who played before synergies were added. Also, you sound like the most boring player ever. Why is it that you followed those internet guides? If you were really playing for fun you would put points wherever you want not where you are told to. To me thats like saying: "I don't know what you're talking about with the fun of finger-painting. I did exactly what teacher said." Since when is following instructions fun? The reason you did it is because you didn't want to make a new character in case you "screwed up" according to the optimal guide. And thats exactly my point. With re-specing it is impossible to screw up. Play how you want with the skills you want. And play for fun not for optimization.
But my original point was: why exactly would everyone be so careful with their leveling build (cookie cutter) and then switch to what they want for end-game? If chewbacca lives on endor you must acquit! I think its fair to say that if there will be several good end-game builds there will also be at least as many good leveling builds. It seems to me that anyone who feels re-specing will cause them to have only 1 of each class and will only level them with the "optimized" build sees leveling new characters as a hassle. If you think thats a hassle you probably shouldn't play D3.
I don't think the option of re-specing is one of those things that will ruin the game for people who don't like it. With that in mind, the decision to add it is easy.

I think it will be the exact opposite. Players only have cookie cutter builds because someone does the math and finds out the optimal end-game build. If you can re-spec to the optimal cookie cutter build at any point then its the leveling builds that will vary greatly because players know any points in can be changed later.
Just look at D2. The fun of playing at low levels is sacrificed because everyone wants the same end-game build and needs to hoard points for it. Add re-specing and problem solved.

Re-specing is better in every single way. But I hope its not as simple as in WoW. E.g. after I unlearn all my skills I have to use each skill a bit before I can put more points in.

...do not have forced leveling be required in D3, at least give people a choice to turn it off. It was a major let down when they announced that there might be forced leveling in D3.
--------------------
I posted on the official forums but I guess no one agrees with me. It sounds like he is saying he heard it might be in D3 as though its a new feature. Also the option to turn it off would totally undermine the point of it in the first place.
Based on that I think he is talking about auto-stats.
1. Blizz has discussed possibility of auto-stats. Have not heard anything about lvl reqs.
2. The option to automatically put points into stats vs. manually is much more reasonable than enabling vs disabling level requirements.
3. Forced leveling sounds to me like automatic leveling which isnt far from automatic stat placement. After all leveling is just a number unless your stats increase.
But hey maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, seems like once again Bashiok posted in a thread that didn't make any sense.

Nice idea. But for a fast paced game like D3 10 minutes is too long. I would rather just see a 5 second cast on tps. Yes, most people would still cast them before bosses but in the same reason people dont want to die, people dont want to keep portaling from a boss fight. Its just a safety net. 5 seconds is enough I think (maybe 10) that people would only use them in regular play when they needed to.

Man those 2 skills alone make be want to start a barbarian as soon as I open the D3 box (in 1-2 years from now *cry*)

I think each item graphic should have an inventory size and an equipped size. In the inventory there are small and large items. But if you equip chest armor that is normally the same size as boots in your inventory, the graphic expands to fill a larger chest armor sized equipped item box. This way, no tetris, but you get to see each item graphic you have equipped at full size.
The equipped items layout needs work. Organize and scale.
I also do not want inventory items to autosort (think icons in a windows folder). Its annoying. Ive played games with it before and it sucks. I want to be able to move around items as I please. I already dont like separate tabs but I can't think of anything better at the moment.

I'm guessing its all the same but I didn't check. Anyway, I do not like many of the passive skills. It seems like the emphasis is being taken off off items. Combined with auto-stats, it should make for some pretty predictable gameplay. And why does the wizard have a passive to increase health? Might as well give barbs a fcr passive. Items people. ITEMS! Definately making a witch doctor.
And
Shattering Ice
Anyway, I had this rant in my suggestion thread already. I'll save you the rest.
Also, last screenshots I saw, skills were a max of 5 not 1. That was for barbarians but I would assume wizards will get that as well.

To keep us sane. Though D2 at this point is so messed it seems like a test realm as it is. Interesting that they are being so professional about this patch. Good to hear. But maybe also bad. Is this a sorry that D3 is going to take forever patch?
Though a lore tie-in would be awesome. I just wish they wouldnt say as early as the end of april when they not only need more time to work on it but also a few weeks to test it. at least there will be a test realm
