Oh... And what's with this crap? I can't build a Marketplace and I'm lvl 5...?

Yes, but have you researched "Wealth" yet. Don't forget not only is Level important but so is the stage of your research development.

Greetings Folks and Happy New Year. I've just spent a few moments reading the last 60 or so posts and bringing myself up to date. I'm not really much for the boards, especially since I'm not a Diablo player either.

Sepulveda asked to hold of until the 5th. No problem I was thinking of asking everyone to be ready to go on Sundayevening of the 8th. By then most of you will have had the opportunity of building up your defenses and sufficient military troops for a reasonable attack force.

I don't have the ability to build a floater at the moment my last floater got turned into a thriving colony and I'm still many thousands of resources from being able to add a new one.

Because this is a lot more public than I would like I'll leave out names. We have five players in our alliance and have been in self isolation for the past six months, many will have forgotten us. We are not large enough to take on any real alliance but within our general area there are members of smaller alliances who if we plan properly we can drop a can of whup-ass on without fear of immediate retaliation.

I've found a particular alliance which has the majority of their members some 12 to 16 hours away from us but a small crew within a 2 hr journey. The plan is to take over and occupy 2 maybe a 3rd colonies of some smaller payers who are unaligned to enable us to move our troops forward into position so that when we send in our initial attacks we minimize the advance warnign that we give them of our impending visit.

I've sent in my spies and have determined that there are 14 potential targets of these 14 the smallest available loot is 124 boat loads but the average is 260 boat loads. (since there's a limit of 160 boats per player it becomes moot as which is a better target)

The plan is to hit 6 targets almost at the same time which will effectively cause them not to send troops to assist each other. We will be going against some formidable defenses. Each of the colonies we will be attacking have at least a level 16 wall which means we'll need mortars, fortunately none of them have any Balloons at the moment which means our mortars won't get killed off.
Because we're launching from an occupied port it means we will be limited to 3 action points each so we won't get to send in multiple waves, you'll get 2 if you're lucky so once your troops are committed they're in it for the duration.

I'm looking for each player to bring to the table a minimum of 240 hoplites 98 Guns 120 Swords and 24 mortars or their equivalent. (Where 30 hoplites is equal to 10 Steam Giants, 7 gunsmen are equal to 30 archers 30 Swordsmen are equal to 60 Spearsmen and 6 Mortars are equal to 12 Catapults)

As we get closer to the kick off date I'll be letting more info out so that people have a chance to move their troops around and be better prepared. If you have specific questions rather than post them here, please send me a message in game as I don't always remember to check the boards.

    Best regards,
    DeMolay

You win, Demolay. I'll follow you wherever you go. Perhaps it will be nice anyway in Eta not to have to have a senior position anymore. I've sent my application to OLY and I'm waiting for acceptance.

As for Kappa, I might rename my alliance but will remain a one man alliance for now and be a thorn in KOZAK's side.

Glad to see you're in...on ETA. We (DFAC) have a history with OLY and they were only to happy to welcome us back.

On Kappa I'm going to move my colony from the island I share with Kozac. Silly buggers don't believe in building their production and prefer to leech. I'm going to just go with the 3 colonies for the moment and leave the 4th as a floater.

Even on Gamma we've lost again as Kenzai has gone inactive. A shame too. Don't bother trying to pillage his last colony unless you have move than 1,542 Phalanx, 514 Steam Giant. 257 Bombardier 20 Doctor and 20
Cook. Talk about over kill, they're only protecting 33,500 Marble and 7000 wood. I don't know if any of the others are actually playing as none of their scroes seem to move.

That traitor RobHnk has granted garrison rights to his EVW cronies. I see them blockading your port as well, Demolay. We should plan a counter offensive soon. Not here, of course.

Which is why I'm suggesting that we join up with another alliance. On the Eta server there are only the three of us left so it might be worth our while to look at a group like OLY. My experiences with them have been minimal but I can see very quickly that the three of us would make a good addition to them. Combined with Sauriol we would worry the EVW and have the resources of a larger alliance to assist us.

I'm very confused by the fellows from EVA and how they do battle. Today's battles leave me wondering.. 1st battle they sent almost 600 guns which overwhelmed what I had and wiped out about 20% of my military in that colony but for some odd reason they didn't send any cargo ships so that while I lost troops, I didn't loose any resources.

The second battle, they sent 20 diving boats against my navy detachment, again they drove my troops out but they forgot to send any troops or cargo ships. In this case I just moved my naval units away so that all they did was block my port for 8 hours,

The two battles ended up costing them a lot more than they had.. very confusing. I've shut down my production in favor of building additional troops. I'll spend part of Tuesday looking for suitable targets to hit. You in?

Can you destroy a town and move it elsewhere?
Because I want my starting place to GTFO.

There are two ways of relocating. In all cases it's assumed that you currently have a minimum of two colonies.

    1) If you have the ability to start a new colony. Build /start a colony in the new area. Move the resources from your old colonies to the new colony. As the old colonies are completely empty and all transfers are from them are completed go to the respective Town Hall's and abandon the colony. (typically, but not always the last colony you abandon is your capital..)

When you're ready to abandon your capital, go to the palace/govoner's mansion of the new colony that you want to make the capital and hit the "Declare this town to be your capital" button.

    2) If you don't have the ability to start a new colony. Move your resources to one of your colonies. For obvious reasons I'd choose my most undeveloped colony first. When the colony is completely empty and all transfers are completed go to the Town Hall and abandon the colony. Then you create a new colony in the new area and proceed as per 1)

As I said in a previous message, it can be a disheartening process but it won't take you long to see the benefits. The first time I did it on Gamma I almost stopped playing the game. The second time, within three weeks I was significantly stronger than I had been before so I had a good feeling about it. When I did it on ETA it just made sense and I had the process completed within a week and haven't looked back.

That was me. Actually I think it's time I change my name back on Gamma. Since I'm really not worried about Deos anymore.

I see from the Highscroe that Deos is not with his former alliance and is gone independent. His MS score is still a respectable 9,400 and he's still #6 with a bullet just not with an alliance. Did I miss something?

I'm off in the middle of fucking nowhere.
Checked how long it would take to get near your island, and it's well over 15 hours.
Might set up a halfway town between me and you guys, so I can send aid and whatnot if the need arises, also so you can send stuff to me easier if you so choose.

And I'm actually doing quite well for resources right now, only thing that comes to mind is wood, I don't have the people to spare to harvest it, and nobody seems to be selling it. Main city is at 44,59 is you can spare any.

And also, that attack went horribly wrong.
Lost the bulk of my forces to his phalanx, turns out he had a wall at 70%, which led to unbearable amounts of defense.

Huzzah, third town up and running.

And btw, does anybody need some sulfur?
Seriously, 9000+ surplus here, and there are no fucking buyers.
So if anyone needs some, I'll pitch some your way.

Actually I would suggest you relocate your third colony towards our "stronghold" It's only the first one that takes time. after that you fold your other colonies and rebuild them in the area. I would think you should be able to relocate your three colonies within 2-3 days and have them back to their current strength within a week and a half.

You could benefit from our resources as well as our protective strength to guard you from pillages. You would also benefit from the developed mines on our islands. We in turn would gain from having an alliance member filling up the empty slots on the islands.

We've gone through the process. Believe me when I say it wasn't fun but we're all the stronger for it. Your initial move could happen overnight while you were sleeping and you wouldn't even notice it.

Whilemost of the conversations revolve around our efforts on Gama, there are a few of us who play multiple servers. On Kappa, the newest server, we've not exactly been too successful as we struggle to get ahead. We've been thwarted in our efforts by the Kosack Alliance. These guys have been pillaging not only us but every player in the region (say under 2 hrs away)

We were getting ready to attack later today but as I logged in earlier I just happened to see that someone had beaten us to the punch as I saw 4 of their smaller colonies get invaded roughly at the same time by members of the FREE Alliance. Contacting them I learned that they were on the attack in retaliation for the continual pillaging of one of their members and asked if I could join in.

    Here's the final summary:

tabar from Welcome to hell, deMolay from Start Worrying, Jams from Sparta1, Tabər from Begluk

    vs
Dumanov4e from OLD TRAFORD, Exelero from Vinar, Nepi from Begluk

    Archer 66 (Lost: -87)
    Battering ram 11 (Lost: -13)
    Cook 12 (Lost: -11)
    Catapult 4 (Lost: -1)
    Doctor 2 (Lost: -6)
    Marksman 66 (Lost: -48)

Not sure if any of you noticed the new features and bug fixes for version 0.3.2 which has been put up on the test server. The date for the release for the other serves has not been announced:

    New Version - 0.3.2

    • Feature -- Vacation mode has been revised: A player can always go into vacation mode now. Fleets and armies that are on their way to another player's city will complete their current missions. However, new missions can only be started when the current mission has been completed. Stationed troops and armies (ie. a players' fleets in general) that are currently on their way somewhere are scattered. Building jobs are stopped when you enter vacation mode and are continued again once you have logged back into the game.
    • Feature -- Doubled storage capacity: A bit of Ambrosia allows you to double the amount of goods that are safe from pillaging.
    • Feature -- Protection for new players: Newly registered players cannot be attacked until their Town Hall has been extended to level 4, they have attacked another player or founded their first colony. Players that have an active Premium account are safe until the level 6. If a player becomes inactive, protection is forfeited. Troops cannot be stationed at newly protected player's cities, as they cannot attack in the first place.
    • Feature- Trade offers enhanced: The Bargain Finder's results list now displays the supplier city's trading port size. Thus the duration of a mission can be estimated.
    • Feature- Research system has been revised: Previously, players could only choose their research section. The research points were then automatically invested into this section's research and the acquisitions were automatically researched. From now on, every player (taking the requirements for the research into consideration) can invest his research points into the research section of his choice. Research points are produced as normal. If scientists have produced as many research points as the possible research topics cost, the points can be swapped for the research by the research advisor. The feature 'Swap crystal for research points' has been omitted.
    • Feature- Island forum: Each island now has a small forum on it, which can be used by each player who has a city on that particular island. The forums can be accessed via the theatres on the islands.
    • Feature- Miracles revised: Every island has a miracle on it that has a particular effect. Players can build a temple in their cities, in which villagers can become priests. The maximum amount of priests is dependent on the expansion stage of the building. Priests produce a faith miracle over a specific time with a dynamic limit (depending on the level of the miracle and the maximum population of all cities on the island). Faith is reduced if a priest is removed from the temple or if the limit is altered. Every island miracle has a maximum of 5 levels and can be expanded by the community of the island. However in order to do this, luxury goods have to be donated. It is irrelevant which resource it is, but it cannot be a resource that is already produced on the island. Example: On a marble island, only wine, crystal or sulphur can be donated. The 5 levels determine the strength of the miracle effect. Players can trigger the effect of a particular level when the priests from all cities have achieved enough faith for the level. Triggering an effect does not reduce faith! Every player can activate the effect of a level regardless of the other players on the island. Miracle effects affect the player's complete account (all armies, fleets or cities). They have a limited period of effectiveness (usually two hours) and cannot be activated again for several hours afterwards (usually 20 hours). The previous effects are omitted completely.
    • Feature- Battle system has been revised: Units and battle sequences have been completely changed. There are different positions or battle lines on the battlefield, which can be occupied by specific unit classes and that get involved in the combat action in different ways. The heavy infantry is at the front line on the main battle lines. On the sides, next to the heavy infantry is the light infantry and behind the main battle lines are the long-range units. The town wall has to be broken through in order for a battle to start in a city. Once a side manages to defeat an opponent's main battle lines, the battle is over. If there is not enough heavy infantry available, the battle lines are filled with other unit classes which will probably not be as successful during close combat. These positions, regardless of their city size have a limited capacity for units. The units who do not fit in any more, will not take part in the battle round, but will wait in reserve until they are needed. The units' parameters have been completely changed. This is also true for the building costs and the required upkeep. In general, these have reduced. You can find a more detailed description of the battle system in Ikipedia.
    • Feature -- New unit Spear Thrower: The spear throwers are a new infantry unit which are a start unit.
    • Feature -- Tutorial for beginners: A tutorial with eight steps has been implemented into the game. During the tutorial, advisors explain the most important steps to take when you are new to the game and have just started playing.
    • Feature -- Barbarian village: There is now a barbarian village on the island of the player's capital city. It can be pillaged up to 10 times. The barbarians' loot and strength increases with every attack. Thus the new battle system can be tried out without making any new enemies.
    • Feature -- Global news: A new system has been implemented so that we can directly send you important news in the game.
    • Feature -- World map shortcut list: This is a drop-down list on the world map; you can decide which islands you would like the map to be centered on here. Islands on which you have own cities and own stationed troops are automatically entered. Additionally another 5 islands can be entered -- which becomes a maximum of 25 if you have a premium account.
    • Bugfix -- Goods request at the Trading Post was not deleted when the building was demolished
    • Bugfix -- Troops sometimes withdrew to the wrong city
    • Bugfix - Errors occurred during the marking of new city messages
    • Bugfix -- The display error in the in the Workshop has been fixed
    • Bugfix -- Cultural goods could be accepted several times
    • Bugfix - Sometimes villagers fled if an ally pillaged from the city
    • Bugfix -- When the growth of a city stagnated, the unhappy smiley was displayed

well i am going to set up a colony soon and delete my old capital. where do you recommend i put it? i would like it to be close to someone in the alliance. thanks.

On gamma I'd suggest 97:87 which is right in the heart of "our Territory" where we can all be of support. There's still a slot open and it's a marble island which s good for starting up.

woot! neojonathans @ 57:28. if anyone is near, let me know so i can apply for the alliance. thanks =)

I see your're playing on Gamma but your initial colony is over a full day to our area. It wouldn't be too advantages for you to join us just yet.

What you should do is build you colony to the point that you can create a 2nd colony and then relocate to our area by building the 2nd colony and then deleting the 1st.

This way you can take advantage of our group strength to assist you in building. Why not join in the conversation while you grow (should take 2-3 days) so we get to know you a bit better and when you relocate you can join the alliance. I'm all for helping out a new player get started, especially if he wants to help us.

    Wait, what?
I thought you guys already had an alliance up?
    Oh well..

But anyways, finally starting to get somewhere in this game!
Nearing the time to expand to another island, just saving up materials right now.
Dunno if I should just expand on the island I'm on right now and fill every unoccupied spot, or expand to another island with a different resource...
The latter would probably be my best bet, but having 5 or so towns on the same island, how badass. Useless, but badass.

It's a toss up as to what is best when expanding, but I think general consensus is to have 1 of each and then look at Marble or Wine. You can always use the marble yourself and sell the wine and put the extra population to create gold.

I know of one player who has his 4 core colonies in one cluster and 4 outlying colonies that he uses to mount pillages and attacks several island clusters away in opposite directions. It's all a matter of personal choice based on your game goals.

People do you all still have plans to remain active in Gamma and Eta? I'm guessing with our leader gone, I'm kind of interested who still is really into playing the game or not. I've left DFAC in Eta and am now pillaging him silly. Gamma, I'm not sure what to do. I just wish Ully would at least bring us some closure and get his resignation shit in order.

Sorry I haven't been following the thread I don't seem to remember to look here (I'm not really a big forum type of guy) I'm planning on staying active in Gamma, Eta and Kappa. There is some talk at work of me taking on a new project in the fall but we'll see. In the mean time I've set up the SAN alliance on Gamma and Eta, I'd apprectiate if anyone else who plans on continuing to play joins me (now that I remembered to assign the diplomatic points so others can join)

In either case I'll miss my chats with Killer/Ullion but then life goes on. See you all in the games.

You know I'd be hitting EVW-A as well. But we seem to have a peace treaty with them for whatever odd reason.

Why go after EVW-A when it's EVW that caused the ppain, they're two different groups.
Kind of like smacking your cousin just because you pissed me off......

Anyone hear from Ullion as of late? It would be nice if he just logged in on ETA so we could use his colony as a jump off point against dumbenough and his clan
