I wouldn't be surprised, actually i think it will make a return. It's another money sink that Blizzard can help use to stabilize the economy.

Having only level 85 items BoE seems kind of taking the easy way out. I'm sure they could figure out another way of having items cycle out of the economy. I'm no expert with this but maybe having good items much much harder to find. So the mainstream use ok items and 1% of the population are only using the highest quality items. In addition to that Diablo 3 items would be similar to ethereal items in D2. Make their durability last a lot longer, but over a very long period of time, the become destroyed and cannot be repaired. Blizzard could balance out how long it takes to find an item that good based of statistics and balance it with how long it takes for an item to become destroyed.

Another idea maybe is make all items BoE, but players can pay gold depending on the level and quality of the item to remove the BoE. Almost to the point where removing the BoE for very high quality items is so much, some people would consider just finding new ones.

posted a message on Am I the only one who thinks there are too much effects ?
The effects look a little overdone, but then again your just watching and not playing. If they redo things like Spider Totem... I'm sure they will be able to catch issues like this, if it is an issue in the first place.

Not really crazy about idea number 2, but your other ideas are nice. Having these options will make Diablo 3 feel like a high quality game.

Luckily classic doesent have this problem :P But when I did play LoD that was one of the things I hated. Yea but Runewords is what ruined LoD for me

Back in the day I never played expansion. I only bought it for the increased resolution. LOD was washed out by a lot of stuff and made pvp so bland. I'm replaying d2 right now first time playing a paladin on expac (because classic only has 2500 players, lod has 36000) and those bots piss me off.

The only type of restrictions I am for would be special characters such as !,@,#,$,%,_,... I think Blizzard should allow numbers, letters, and spaces for multiple words in a name.

posted a message on Life Leach in D3
I don't believe there is to much of a balancing issue with life leach. The only problem with diablo 2 is that people would have 5% and do thousands of damage a hit keeping their life up constantly. I remember playing Barb vs Barb duels and the fights would last for sometimes 10 minutes because both Barbs would keep getting healed. Blizzard could cap the amount of life gained per second but life leach is not really needed in the game. In diablo 2 it did make the game a lot harder but in diablo 3 the game could be completely designed around not using life leach at all.

You guys might find this interesting.
World of warcraft, announced September 2, 2001. Released November 23, 2004.
    Starcraft 2, announced May 19, 2007. Delayed till 2010.
Diablo 3, announced June 28, 2008. Release date.... is maybe a pattern?

About 3 years from announcement till release seems to be a pattern.

This is already being discussed in not one but two other threads. Use the 'Search' feature and don't create duplicate threads.

This was more of a discussion in response to the StarCraft 2 delay and how Diablo 3 will be developed around that... but thanks.

posted a message on Diablo 3 in 2011?
Hey this is a post from my blog. I didn't think it would be appropriate to just make a thread and plug my website into it so I copied my post for everyone to read here. The link to my blog is in my signature if your interested in checking it out.

Over at the StarCraft 2 general discussion forums, Cydra has announced that StarCraft 2 has been delayed until 2010. The main reason for the delay is due to the development of Battle.net taking longer than expected. Since Battle.net is an integral part of the StarCraft 2 experience, StarCraft 2 cannot be completed without its counterpart. What does this mean for Diablo 3?

Awhile ago, Blizzard made a statement that they would release one major title per year. When this statement was brought up to Blizzard executive Mike Morhaime, this is what he had to say in terms of the StarCraft 2 delay.

The move of StarCraft into next year does not impact the schedule, and so it would be correct to conclude that you could expect two releases of Blizzard for next year. But I would not make any conclusions on what those titles would be.

While he does say no other Blizzard titles will be affected by this delay and that we can expect 2 major releases in 2010, he does not confirm if it will be Diablo 2 and StarCraft, or StarCraft and another game. The release StarCraft and another game is something most of us dread, but could be a likely possibility. Since 2007 Blizzard has released an expansion for World of Warcraft almost every year. The Burning Crusade ? 2007, Wrath of the Lich King ? 2008, nothing in 2009 (WoW announcement at BlizzCon 2009?), so it seems likely there might be something in store for World of Warcraft in 2010.

Blizzard may have planned Diablo 3?s release for 2011 all along. Being so late, Blizzard could work around the Battle.net development delays relatively easily and still be on track with the rest of their games.

    I hope I?m completely wrong.

So Diablo 3 in 2011? Do you guys think its a possibility?

Or option 3. Have an inside ID for each character which has nothing to do with his account name, and, chances are, nothing to do with his character name, either. This works for comparisons as well.

Pretend to be my friend? My friends are on my friend list and my enemies are on my ignore list, thank you very much, and there could be a way to check who it is, like the info function in IRC chatrooms that show your IRC name.

STO plans to use this system, CO already does, I believe, and there were some other games with it.
I don't think forcing numbers or letters on a name is creative. I think it's silly, actually. The more popular a game, the more idiotic names new users are forced to invent, especially if they want to keep the name and no symbols, numbers, extra letters. Why is someone who logged into the game first deserves to claim, without chance of retrieval, a name that someone else also wants?
I guess none of you here RP. >>

How many Obama's do you think you'll see per day? These names won't repeat often enough to see 2 at the same time.

I defiantly agree with you on some points. World of Warcraft is a perfect example for unique names being taken. Unless you were the first on the server, you probably have to get a random name, and even that could be taken.

Implementing the system you suggested tho seems a big complex. Don't get me wrong, im not saying that people are to stupid to figure it out it just has to be streamlined and not abnormal to use. Having people keep track of id numbers or even trying to look up an id number to tell 1 friend to add another seems counter intuitive.

I would still prefer 1 unique name per person even though people who make names first get first dibs. Only think I would not like to see is being forced to make my character name 2 words. Its actually not that hard to make a creative unique name without x's or #'s that no one has taken.
