I think blizzard should definitely do this. Not to prevent people from having more then one account, they could just a second cd key... I would like for them to only allow like 6-8 characters per account but they never expire, id probably still play diablo 2 if my characters didnt expire.

This would be done over and over for hours. Some people even used bots to run this all night long when they weren't actually playing.Posted in: News

Another idea maybe is make all items BoE, but players can pay gold depending on the level and quality of the item to remove the BoE. Almost to the point where removing the BoE for very high quality items is so much, some people would consider just finding new ones.

Back in the day I never played expansion. I only bought it for the increased resolution. LOD was washed out by a lot of stuff and made pvp so bland. I'm replaying d2 right now first time playing a paladin on expac (because classic only has 2500 players, lod has 36000) and those bots piss me off.

World of warcraft, announced September 2, 2001. Released November 23, 2004.
Starcraft 2, announced May 19, 2007. Delayed till 2010.
Diablo 3, announced June 28, 2008. Release date.... is maybe a pattern?
About 3 years from announcement till release seems to be a pattern.

This was more of a discussion in response to the StarCraft 2 delay and how Diablo 3 will be developed around that... but thanks.

I defiantly agree with you on some points. World of Warcraft is a perfect example for unique names being taken. Unless you were the first on the server, you probably have to get a random name, and even that could be taken.
Implementing the system you suggested tho seems a big complex. Don't get me wrong, im not saying that people are to stupid to figure it out it just has to be streamlined and not abnormal to use. Having people keep track of id numbers or even trying to look up an id number to tell 1 friend to add another seems counter intuitive.
I would still prefer 1 unique name per person even though people who make names first get first dibs. Only think I would not like to see is being forced to make my character name 2 words. Its actually not that hard to make a creative unique name without x's or #'s that no one has taken.
