Apr 27, 2009Olden_Soul posted a message on Diablo 3 Difficulty LevelsThe original Diablo was what I myself considered a breeze, something that could be beaten in a matter of hours. Diablo 2 was made with more difficulty, and more monsters, bosses, areas, etc. It only makes sense if Diablo 3 is more difficult than the last, because you're factoring in a lot of new classes, and fighting styles, not to mention the new 'interaction' with the environment around you. It sounds promising, and I hope it to live up to it's reputation. I myself have played the entire Diablo series for over...8 years now in total, and I never get tired of it. Diablo 3 has been long awaited by many fans who have loyally followed it, and I think they are also wanting it to be more challenging than the last. What's the point in making it easier?Posted in: News

Yeah, I get it, my MF is only 140, but for a DH that's already too much because I have horrible defensive abilities, but a whopping 100k DPS :D.
So just putting it out there, there ARE people who play and play and play, have three level 60's (almost 5) and have nothing to show for all the play except what he's able to buy.

I will never play Hardcore on this game due to it being only online, and my internet is not stable. I've died quite a few times because I lagged while fighting mobs. I loved Diablo 2 hardcore, but with Diablo 3 my computer and internet just doesn't agree, also I seem to die a lot easier on D3. I am refusing to use the Auction house for the time being, and most of the time I play solo, save for the few times my friends randomly join my game.
There are too many ways to get backed up into the corner with no escape route, potions are worthless most of the game with the cool-down timer. I've been walled, and then nightmared into a corner and died without even being able to do anything before. I'm not saying that hardcore isn't hard, it actually is and takes a lot more conservative skill.
My main point is that the game is more frustrating over pleasurable if you are playing to play, and not in it for competition or racing to the top. I've died 14 or so times in 20 minutes on my level 46 Demon hunter while trying to get through act 3 on Nightmare, and I would not say my gear or play-style is outdated, there are just really buffed elites out there.
I see very few positive updates, but many nerfing, and removing things that were just fine being there. Just because I am not past nightmare doesn't give my opinion any less, or any more effect, I recognize that it will be a lot harder, that's not my point. It's already a difficult game, it already has its time consumption, and it already has its appeal. Fix the bugs, balance the play-style, and leave the game as is.

I've been a part of beta since October of last year. So I know how much they have done. My only problem with it is the fact they are negatively impacting the game. It doesn't need to be harder, just balanced. If people are having problems with Inferno, inferno is broken not the characters, and making them weaker and less effective is definitely not fixing anything.

Why do I continually see negative updates for this game? I keep trying to play, and can barely make it past nightmare with soloing and not using Auction house. And they keep making it more difficult and unattractive, and I am a hardcore diablo fan since the beginning. Stop making a more difficult game, more difficult! It's getting tot he point where it isn't even fun anymore just hours spent between working, the girlfriend, and then trying to progress just a little.
I don't mean to sound negative, but that's all I see coming from you, Blizzard. Stop it.

I have played many games inbetween playing Diablo, but only have been particulary attached to only a few, and Diablo 3 looks to rejuvinate my love, and my interest in the series.
There are many things I am looking forward to, but just having it in my reach, and being able to play again is what I am happy about most.

I don't think he meant Diablo 1. He meant Diablo in general, and then was asking if it will be the same system in Diablo 3. Diablo 1 was so easy, but fun regardless :P. Spooked me when I was a kid. Especially the Butcher...
There should be a point upon completion that by the time you get there you should be a bit stocked in items and gear. Especially since playing the game will be more of a requirement. (Killing all monsters in an area, etc). Diablo 1 was too easy to get things, and Diablo 2 was a bit more difficult, it was very hard to start off in the game without owning a "magic finder" or a friend who was stacked up in HRs.
So I hope they find a good balance and make beginning fresh a lot less difficult. But who knows, if there is no ladder will we even have to worry about starting completely "new" besides in the very beginning?

No... That would put us in the same boat as SoJ selling. Hmm...
I like the Standard of Hero idea. For a few reasons. Because the requirement to summon Dclone would be 90, as is the requirement for Standard, it gives it a use, and it makes Uber Trist more rewarding. Once you have any and all of the Hellfire Torches, you kill it for what, money? When you could be getting a rare Annihulus, granted it wont be "as" rare as it once was. I was lucky enough to be in a game with my Girlfriend at the time and it randomly spawned on my server. I was ecstatic, as I have never had as much luck. I took it down with a level 83 hammerdin. But yes, seeing and fighting it more would bring a lot more excitement into Diablo 2. Kind of wondering, will such a thing exist in Diablo 3?
