    You seem to be talking about respeccing all skills, or at least respeccing a large enough amount to completely change a character's strategy. In these cases I believe that the player should restart a new character from the beginning, as I believe that's what the developers intended.

    I know a lot of people will say "but why should I have to restart?", but I don't think those people are quite getting the enjoyment out of the game that they should. I'm not saying that their views are wrong, I just don't believe that's the way the game was intended to be played and enjoyed.

    To me it feels too much like cheating to be able to completely respec my character, sort of like using the trainers of the earlier Diablos.

    Again, just my opinion. I'll still be playing the game either way.

    I never said anyone said that. That's just the impression I get from people who are totally opposed to respec.

    I also never said that my example was a good idea (I said the opposite) and I also never said i thought it would be implemented...I said that is what people seem to be assuming will be implemented....sigh....

    The point is. We don't know anything about the new skill system and we don't know anything about the respec...How can we assume anything, and if we are going to make assumptions why would we assume that it's going to be terrible. Why not hope for the best?

    I think the main argument that people opposed to respec have is they don't want people making a build, but then find out this isn't the best build. Then after someone does figure out a great build, they just switch their entire character skillset over to the better. For example, if I were to max meteor shower/ slow time, but then find out it would have been better for me to max electrocute and frost nova, I could simply click a button and voila, I have all my skill points back and I can put them into whatever I want. I think this is a bad way of looking at respec, and I really don't think this is how it will play out. I'm sure there will be a high cost to respec-ing.

    People are making too many assumptions about the game. We've had but a sip of the satisfaction that is to come...Patience. Let's not let negativity overcome us before we've actually seen how the final game works.

    On Topic: I'd like to see a boss toss your corpse up into the air and into their mouth. Maybe some chewing with their mouth open and your gooey corpse stringing and oozing between their teeth...That would make me less sad about dying.

    Good work on this interview. It's nice to get some excitement pumped back into the wait. I think they've got a lot more put together than they let on. Sure they've got major systems they're probably pulling teeth on, but at least they're willing to work at it and only include something that is worthy. Like the skill system for example....I'm excited to hear that they're trying something new in that area. I hope it works out.

    *Long drawn out sigh.......* I give up on this thing. Hasn't this been in the works for 1/2 a year now at least? If they aren't increasing the stash size, aren't adding end-game content, and aren't changing the resolution, what's the gosh darn hold-up??? What ARE they including?? New weapons/runewords, a ladder reset, and Middle-game content!??!?!?!? :P

    BTW I don't really give up. This was just depressing news.

    It really doesn't matter to me how they do it. I don't care if there are waypoints and you "warp" from Act 1 to Act 5. Not sure if this has been mentioned previously, but I did think it was cool in GTA3 when at the beginning of the game your character was directly involved in an accident that caused one of the bridges to another part of town to be out. It wasn't just that you weren't at the right part of the game to go there, but it made sense that you couldn't get to the next area. "Oh yeah the bridge blew up. I can't get over there yet cause they're still rebuilding it." Then when you were at the right point in the game to get across it, the vehicle radio announced "Repairs to the Bridge have finished, blah blah blah..." I just thought that was a cool way to keep you in one area until it was time to move onto the next. Maybe they could incorporate things like that in Diablo 3 I dunno. Maybe they can't or shouldn't. Just another possibility.

    BTW. The new buttons for editing and posting are perty...

    I did love in D2 though when the Necro would scream. It still makes me laugh.


    More to the point, I love the idea of twists being put on Boss fights. I love some additional challenges.
