Dec 3, 2009Legilimens posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsPosted in: NewsQuote from "sinister84" »The idea is that if you have wasted a skill point you can go back and earn the right to reallocate a skill point.
You seem to be talking about respeccing all skills, or at least respeccing a large enough amount to completely change a character's strategy. In these cases I believe that the player should restart a new character from the beginning, as I believe that's what the developers intended.
I know a lot of people will say "but why should I have to restart?", but I don't think those people are quite getting the enjoyment out of the game that they should. I'm not saying that their views are wrong, I just don't believe that's the way the game was intended to be played and enjoyed.
To me it feels too much like cheating to be able to completely respec my character, sort of like using the trainers of the earlier Diablos.
Again, just my opinion. I'll still be playing the game either way.
I like your idea! And welcome! -
Dec 2, 2009Legilimens posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsPosted in: NewsQuote from "luc1027" »Recover all skill points back are very very bad... I don't see anyone said that ?!?! it's just a bad idea.
almost reasons why people doesn't want respecs are (completly change your build) but why do you think a bad idea like that will be implement ????
I never said anyone said that. That's just the impression I get from people who are totally opposed to respec.
I also never said that my example was a good idea (I said the opposite) and I also never said i thought it would be implemented...I said that is what people seem to be assuming will be implemented....sigh....
The point is. We don't know anything about the new skill system and we don't know anything about the respec...How can we assume anything, and if we are going to make assumptions why would we assume that it's going to be terrible. Why not hope for the best? -
Dec 2, 2009Legilimens posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsI think the main argument that people opposed to respec have is they don't want people making a build, but then find out this isn't the best build. Then after someone does figure out a great build, they just switch their entire character skillset over to the better. For example, if I were to max meteor shower/ slow time, but then find out it would have been better for me to max electrocute and frost nova, I could simply click a button and voila, I have all my skill points back and I can put them into whatever I want. I think this is a bad way of looking at respec, and I really don't think this is how it will play out. I'm sure there will be a high cost to respec-ing.Posted in: News
People are making too many assumptions about the game. We've had but a sip of the satisfaction that is to come...Patience. Let's not let negativity overcome us before we've actually seen how the final game works. -
Nov 24, 2009Legilimens posted a message on DiabloFans Exclusive: Jay WilsonGood work on this interview. It's nice to get some excitement pumped back into the wait. I think they've got a lot more put together than they let on. Sure they've got major systems they're probably pulling teeth on, but at least they're willing to work at it and only include something that is worthy. Like the skill system for example....I'm excited to hear that they're trying something new in that area. I hope it works out.Posted in: News

Nov 18, 2009Legilimens posted a message on More Hopes Dashed, 1.13 Delay Going StrongPosted in: NewsQuote from "vladdracul" »In order for this patch to even be worth my time as far as I am concerned they have to eliminate ALL hacks including TPPK, MH, and TMC.
They also have to do something extreme, like remove Enigma or make some major balances to skills. New items mean very little unless they can beat out the current top tier items and even then, it just means that those become new top tier and we are right back where we are now just with different gear.
I concur. This is pretty much what I'm thinkin'. No more bots or spam or hacks. That's the biggest plus I can see coming from this patch. -
Nov 18, 2009Legilimens posted a message on More Hopes Dashed, 1.13 Delay Going Strong*Long drawn out sigh.......* I give up on this thing. Hasn't this been in the works for 1/2 a year now at least? If they aren't increasing the stash size, aren't adding end-game content, and aren't changing the resolution, what's the gosh darn hold-up??? What ARE they including?? New weapons/runewords, a ladder reset, and Middle-game content!??!?!?!?Posted in: News
BTW I don't really give up. This was just depressing news. -

Nov 5, 2009Legilimens posted a message on Torchlight Ups the AnteI played the demo for Torchlight and from what I played it seemed like a mini-Diablo 3 or a Diablo clone (diablo walks the earth! ahhhh). I don't think Blizzard is nervous or hesitant because of Torchlight...It is plausable that they are changing some things around and that's why they haven't released content, or it might just be that they are saving stuff since there's a long way to go before D3's release. Anyway you look at it is just speculation. All we can do is wait.Posted in: News

Nov 5, 2009Legilimens posted a message on PvP -- A Way of LifePosted in: NewsQuote from "kefka666333abc123" »...well leave the game and make a new one its not that bloody hard....at least they should give us the option to turn the hostility feature on or off when creating a game!
No it isn't too difficult. But it's a nuisance that I don't want to bother with.
I agree people should have some option to allow or not allow hostility. -
Nov 5, 2009Legilimens posted a message on PvP -- A Way of LifeI don't play anything but Hardcore. The problem I have with people being able to just go hostile at will is that I just found it really annoying. People would join games and go hostile just to scare every1 outa the game...It just gets really old and lame to me. Plus on Hardcore mode I've got enough monsters to worry about pwning me I don't wanna worry about pkers. I think PvP is split into two groups;Posted in: News
1: People who want to duel, or who mutually agree to fight eachother.
2: Pkers, people who try to kill someone, who isn't trying to kill them.
I'd rather not worry about #2.
Can't they just have a check box on the game creation screen that toggles PvP on/off?
Quote from "Sixen" »Some people, however, do want to be hunted down at random and attacked. These sorts of people might find Diablo II game content fairly easy and wish to have the additional challenge of having to fight players while they play through the game. This might seem masochistic, and the group may be small, but these people exist and should not be ignored if they can be accommodated.
I understand the point the OP is making, but really Blizzard cannot appease everyone. I think it will come down to what they (Blizzard) think the majority of people will be happy with. If I did still have to worry about people hunting me down and Pking me in HC I'd get over it and deal with it. But Blizz has positioned themselves to not add anything that hurts or hinders cooperativeness...
I do like the idea of being able to choose what type of character you are. PvP or standard, and those players being able to play together. I think that type of system would work well.
I'm interested in seeing their solution to this matter. -

May 4, 2009Legilimens posted a message on About The PatchI'd be happy with some new sets that would be useful in hell. I thought the glowiness around ik and tal rashas was sweet and trangouls turning you into a vamp was cool too. If there are new sets they should make you stand out visually.Posted in: News
I think they'll balance some skills, add stash size and/or shared stash. Maybe one new quest that hints at D3 or something....I suppose we'll just have to wait and see... -

Do you want to play Hardcore or normal? I prefer HC but am up for either

Yeah. I agree with this. I think things will get grittier or more gruesome the closer we get to something big. Like a boss. Act 1 had some random dead rogues throughout but they were definately more abundant the closer we got to the Cathedral and Andariel. There was also the creepy altar with blood everywhere in the Cathedral. I think we'll see some specific areas like Seth said. He also makes a great point that if gore was spammed throughout the game it'd lose its effect.

Yeah I do remember that. The Wizard is standing next to a pile of burning bodies I think? I'll dig it up
I found it! Here:

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but I just wasn't sure if anyone knew of any existing screenies/videos showing diffierent gear that I missed.

But I noticed it's always purple, with a few exceptions where the female WD has some red garb on. I wonder if anyone knows of any videos or images of the WD with some different loooking armor than what is on the Blizz D3 site? I saw the concept of the male WD and he looks freaking cool, with an orange color on his gear. I hope we get some variation other than purple. I'm sure they didn't have much variation in the items at that time, but I'm hoping for more images soon!

Are you talking about the fact that having more players in the game increases the drop rates, while also making it harder i.e. "Diablo's minions grow stronger"

I have high hopes for you friend. Don't let me down

But you don't find good gear as often w/out MF
I think the biggest problem people have is that certain character types (casters) aren't effected as negatively by wearing MF gear, as melee characters are. I'm not really sure how they can changes this. Some interesting ideas have come up but I'm not sold on anything in particular yet. Maybe they could limit the MF bonus to charms, or some specific item type. Or maybe they should make it so casters are effected more when wearing MF compared to Power gear. Or should melee chars just be affected less? I dunno. I don't have enough time to come up with, and test the perfect answer, so I'll leave it up to Blizz
The shrine idea isn't a bad one, Airandius! Maybe you could develop this idea further
Also, the ability to teleport right to bosses made it a quick repeatable process. With the new teleport in D3 I think this will be remedied. In fact, I think that might solve a lot of the problem people have with mfing. People will be forced to battle their way to bosses/ or whatever they wanna get to.
I hope they do not close off bosses, or not allow them to respawn once we've killed them...That would make me terribly sad. I love boss fights. Especially since they are looking at ways to make boss fights more challenging and interactive in D3. That would be wasted effort if we only got to fight them once per diff per char.

NPC dialogue, Bosses Dialogue "Looking for Baal>????" "Not even death can save you from me!"
AHHHHHH! Luv it.
Music is sweet too. I also love what the characters say during/completing quests. "The rogues are safe, for the moment."
