posted a message on Idea for characters. I know I know
I know that everyone out there has talked about this but I thought I would just give my two cents on ideas I haven't heard about yet.

One idea I have playing around in my head is a lost soul I guess. Essintially a character who is an anti hero. I have heard of alot of people talking about vampires and such and simply one of the reasons why vampires are attractive is becuase of the whole evil personna.

I think you could go a long way with this. Think of it like a ghost or evil demon that turns good.

As far a skills go I think that most of his skills could start off as weak (evil) necromancy type magic and as he progresses he learns good magic lets say the same as a cleric.

I also like the idea of an elimental magic user. the key here is as they progress they end up being able to work with all elements. this is where it could be neat. His skills could be ones of multi elemental abilities. Think of casting water then air freezing the water and holding everyone in place.

Another couple of interesting ones could be drifter, stalker, thief, native, shapeshifter

    anyways cheers

I know what you are saying. My idea is more about ways to increase your skills and quality of weapons other than just having a number system. Having a black smith that you can train and supply books to allows you to develop you weapon and armory skills just as you would you strength. And I would also think it would be neat to train your black smith by bringing weapons back to him so he can either sell them or melt them down to make new weapons and in doing so he can study them and it turn make better weapons. It just give a different dimension to the bring as much crap as you can back to town to sell it theme.

I would like to know what people think about this idea for D3 or I guess for a game in general

one of my favorite parts of the diablo games is collectiing all the loot and getting the best weapons possible. with that said I think it gets a little dry just hacking and slashing and picking stuff up to sell. I mean at the begining of these games gold is always hard to come by but after awhile you end up with just piles and piles of it and it almost doesn't even matter any more. Okay so here goes my idea

lets say that the hero starts off in a town the is either poor or banged up pretty good. I think instead of only being a traveler you have a home. So lets say that the town you start in is your home and you have no money nothing. So you head out battling monsters and collecting weapons. this all starts off similar to the normal game except you create more of a relationship with the people of your village. So at the begining you are kinda of the savour of your village.

So you have collected some stuff and you go back to sell it to your towns black smith. Again same old. the difference is that you start to collect wealth so at first you can buy items from your town and eventually you can purchase lets say a home and then maybe the black smth, then the magic shop and then the inn.

Now you are askiing questions on why you would want to do this well lets say you buy a home well that give you a place where you can store your stuff. ( for multi player games, the home could work out being a hide out for groups where you can only get in if you have the password. in your home you could have a library map room places to store and grow pets ) it just opens up alot of options. So the home is just a ultimate backpack in a way.

Okay now black smiths. Okay to start with lets say that the black smith starts off as a simplton. you know can make a few very basic items then if you purchase one you can start to make it better. this is kinda taken from some other games but lets say your smith starts off only knowing how to work with basic metals and as you collect books and such he develops. Then maybe there is an option where you can become part of a guild so your black smith can now share information with other smiths, this will allow him to work with more metals and so on - so you smith in a sense collects skills and experience. So when you bring him swords or what not he can sell it - he can melt it down for ore and he can study the item too and the more weaposn you bring back to him the more he learns. the reason for this is so you can get him to build you your armour and weapons maybe eventually embedding artifacts into them and such. there is just so much that you can do with this.

the same would be for magic shops. where they learn skills and can create items for you. this would allow you to concentrate your specialties in different directions. And maybe you can over time bring in more clergy men or what ever and you can start to study different arts.

Inns and such would be mainly to amass wealth. I think it multi player games it could really open up. I think homes could turn into inns if they got big enough. it would let you sleep many people meet people and maybe join new groups. Plus i think that if the games starts off with it being a small farming town with a basic black smith and as it grows a inn develops then it could be like the town gets more visitors and more supplies, different metals, books and such pass through

i don't want to do away with all of the travling and hacking and slashing but I just think it would be great if the game got a little more depth to it.

    Cheers
