Quote fromI don't see a point in all of you long-retired Diablo II players suggesting anti-cheating measures since you probably won't play for any length of time if it was gone. Secondly, I've seen maybe two Baal bots in the last couple months since the mass bannings and have yet to come across one duped anything this whole ladder. But I'm sure you'll all go out of your way to lie and refute me, so I'll discard that last though while making it known to everyone else that will likely flame me for it.
In any case, with cheating and botting being at an all-time low on the player end, I'd much prefer an actually content update, like additional quests, followed by fixing the spam bots (this is different than "botting" for anyone that's about to point that out- botting in Diablo II is using a third-party program to run MF runs or XP runs) and following that, fixing some character balancing issues. The questing and spam bots, though, are at the top of the list. However, it would be nice if they could fix the spam bots while improving channel moderation, or many, many clans are going to be highly dissappointed, as well as me, since Blizzard created the need for channel moderating bots through their lack of moderation support for channels in the first place.
*Readies flame-retardent suit.*
i could be considered long time retired.. it's been about 2 years since i played daily for more than 3 months
but i've been back every 4-6 months and i play until i can't take the cheats anymore.. and can't bare to log in.
when your every goal in playing is diminished by other people's ability to achieve the same things with much less effort due to cheats it just drains the fun out of playing.
yes i can play (1-3 months) for the sheer fun of playing but then long term goals emerge and those are the ones that exist on such a unfair playing field.
not to mention that you feel like something that is so dear to you.. in my case it's my favorite game.. is so corrupted that it's just painful to witness.
so whatever.. i would never NEVER have stopped playing d2 if they kept on top of the cheats and hacks.
and it might even be hard to drag me away from d2 to play d3 if they fixed those problems now.
i've played on and off for 9 years (6 of those being obessively on) ..when you say you've "done it all" i'm sure you haven't. there's always new things to try and new goals to pursue.. even if it's just with a new ladder or new people
also maybe where you play cheating is low, but i'd venture to guess it's just because of a low amount of people playing total. if you don't think new content won't lure all those cheaters back to play (even for a short time) you're kidding yourself.
just with 1.12 with No new content and just the ladder reset i saw about 3/4 of the people i knew from earlier seasons return.
(btw if you're curious to see what a cheater infested community looks like despite a low population, play a day of public games on hardcore uswest)
but anyway everyone's entitled to their opinion and i'm sure you've had your say in that thread as i've had mine. so it's up to them on how they weigh them
edit: also if you consider the impact of this d2 patch in regard to d3..
with so many macros and cheating programs for d2, wow (any popular online games) ..along with g15 keyboards etc.. it seems almost impossible for anyone to make a level playing field anymore.
however, i think a level playing field is critical for d3 and they should start the attempt with a level playing field on d2.

maybe blizzard/youtube has been more diligent about taking them down when they surface.
(i saw a few broken links last week for videos that had disappeared.)
other than that, another idea might be that blizzcon is wowcon, and that there just wasn't as much interest in diablo 3 by the attendees with video cameras.
try looking on youtube for worgen gameplay

this
thought it was really cool and might go well with your anatomy studies
(odonthe1st's presence here really has been hugely educational and inspirational. i doubt he knows how appreciated he is, despite everyone telling him so!)

thanks anyway for looking into it.
maybe you could just change the wording under the report post function, so that it included original posts/threads that you wanted to delete.
as it is now, the text suggests that it would not be appropriate to report a post for that purpose:
[Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. ]

seraph i understand that you worked within the constructs of what blizzard defined the song should be, and that it is not meant to be a replica but a new interpretation.
however, also understand where xabanak is coming from.
so many of the diablo echoes of war songs are just so over the top melodramatic, and that isn't what we're used to.
uelmen conveyed the drama and urgency through his melodies, layering, ambient noises, subtle tempo or volume changes... not through the full force of the orchestra on every track.
i'm just saying it's a departure from what we are used to and have grown to love and expect for diablo music.
additionally, it's hard to be open minded or appreciative of something if the subject matter pertains to a touchy issue; it's hard to admire how cute the neighbor kid is if your own child is missing.
many of us are deeply worried about the music for d3 because of uelmen's absence from the picture. as a result, any music relevant to d3 is, perhaps unfairly, scrutinized for clues as to what new directions the music development will take.
(in fact, i really like the style for the the non-diablo sample tracks. the difference i'm sure is due being able to consider them with an open mind and without preconcieved notions about what they should sound like.)
edit: btw seraph thanks for your participation here and congratulations on your successes.
this to anyone: which if any of these tracks is confirmed for diablo 3? (last angel?)
in discussing the echoes of war tracks in another thread i was told that they had nothing to do with blizzard and wouldn't be featured in the game. i take it that is no longer the case?

you misread or misunderstood the post that you replied to before this last post:
i understood that deletion of a post with responses was not a good option, but i was venturing that maybe we could be allowed to delete a post that had not yet received responses.
if that still would not be possible, i was hoping that we could be allowed to delete our original post if we did so within a short amount of time after it was posted.
if you are not aware, there is a short amount of time after a post is posted that you can edit it without it showing up as edited.
i never get a post right the first time, so i am quite familiar with editing. i am always pleased when i can get my editing done in the short interval before it shows up as edited. it is during this period that i was hoping that a post could be deleted if no one else had responded.

i changed the subscription mode to 'no email notification' but kept getting emails. (i assume now, that it didn't apply to my old subscriptions.)
when that didn't work, and i kept getting emails, i changed it to no subscription and deleted all of my existing subscriptions.
now i think i understand that the mode is only for new subscriptions and i would have had to edit the notification for my old subscriptions (if you can even edit that?) in order to alter them from being 'email notification' and prevent myself from being spammed by the site.
anyway, now i have 'no email notification' and and hoping that will work.
but i still have lost all my old subscriptions and haven't replied to any threads since then besides this one.

but anyway, it's fine not a big deal. will pm a mod if i want my original post deleted.

or allowing deletion in that short period right after a post is posted when you can still edit it without it showing up as edited.
anyway not a huge deal just would be nice.
btw i miss subscriptions

i hope they can fix the problem. ( i did like the subscription feature, just not the barrage of emails)

but i found another thread on the subject (apparently it's a known issue), and so this thread should be deleted. but i can't deleted it.
so, here's a suggestion, let us delete threads that we make. you can only delete posts in a pre existing thread, i guess, and not the original post. i think you should be able to delete any post you make.
additionally, zoltrix or whoever.. i'd like to be subscribed to the threads i post in so that i can view them on the site (by choosing 'list subscriptions'). i just don't want to receive email notification. is there anyway you can fix it so that we can auto subscribe but not get emails about responses?

first chain level of monk's seven sided strike also reminded me of the assassin martial art skill dragon flight, and the blinding monk skill reminded me of the assassin shadow discipline skill cloak of shadows or the necro's dim vision curse

i guess i don't understand if you're asking for people to help with a place to compile guides or if you're asking for people to help with the guides themselves.
if it's the second, it would probably be wise to wait until after the patch before investing time and effort into guides that are (hopefully) antiquated by 1.13.

the silhouette of the monk did appear to have long hair (though it might not reflect how the character ends up looking at all)
the question was also asked on the official bnet forum with no reply. (here)
ps mockery, i think i saw you on the first day but didn't move quick enough to catch you.
