Quote fromI don't see a point in all of you long-retired Diablo II players suggesting anti-cheating measures since you probably won't play for any length of time if it was gone. Secondly, I've seen maybe two Baal bots in the last couple months since the mass bannings and have yet to come across one duped anything this whole ladder. But I'm sure you'll all go out of your way to lie and refute me, so I'll discard that last though while making it known to everyone else that will likely flame me for it.
In any case, with cheating and botting being at an all-time low on the player end, I'd much prefer an actually content update, like additional quests, followed by fixing the spam bots (this is different than "botting" for anyone that's about to point that out- botting in Diablo II is using a third-party program to run MF runs or XP runs) and following that, fixing some character balancing issues. The questing and spam bots, though, are at the top of the list. However, it would be nice if they could fix the spam bots while improving channel moderation, or many, many clans are going to be highly dissappointed, as well as me, since Blizzard created the need for channel moderating bots through their lack of moderation support for channels in the first place.

i could be considered long time retired.. it's been about 2 years since i played daily for more than 3 months
but i've been back every 4-6 months and i play until i can't take the cheats anymore.. and can't bare to log in.
when your every goal in playing is diminished by other people's ability to achieve the same things with much less effort due to cheats it just drains the fun out of playing.
yes i can play (1-3 months) for the sheer fun of playing but then long term goals emerge and those are the ones that exist on such a unfair playing field.
not to mention that you feel like something that is so dear to you.. in my case it's my favorite game.. is so corrupted that it's just painful to witness.
so whatever.. i would never NEVER have stopped playing d2 if they kept on top of the cheats and hacks.
and it might even be hard to drag me away from d2 to play d3 if they fixed those problems now.
i've played on and off for 9 years (6 of those being obessively on) ..when you say you've "done it all" i'm sure you haven't. there's always new things to try and new goals to pursue.. even if it's just with a new ladder or new people
also maybe where you play cheating is low, but i'd venture to guess it's just because of a low amount of people playing total. if you don't think new content won't lure all those cheaters back to play (even for a short time) you're kidding yourself.
just with 1.12 with No new content and just the ladder reset i saw about 3/4 of the people i knew from earlier seasons return.
(btw if you're curious to see what a cheater infested community looks like despite a low population, play a day of public games on hardcore uswest)
but anyway everyone's entitled to their opinion and i'm sure you've had your say in that thread as i've had mine. so it's up to them on how they weigh them
edit: also if you consider the impact of this d2 patch in regard to d3..
with so many macros and cheating programs for d2, wow (any popular online games) ..along with g15 keyboards etc.. it seems almost impossible for anyone to make a level playing field anymore.
however, i think a level playing field is critical for d3 and they should start the attempt with a level playing field on d2.

i agree with the people of this thread, torchlight music is fantastic.
sometimes torchlight almost seems TOO much like diablo music.. can you musically plagiarize yourself?
however, i'm really not complaining. i LOVE it.
honestly, if i could change one thing about the development of d3 it would be to hire matt uelmen at any cost; i'm sure there's some figure that would motivate him to come in to work.

that's why you should gamble or imbue at certain lvls if you're looking for specific affixes or looking for an item for a particular character lvl (like for low lvl dueling)
edit: btw here's some links if you're interested

i have one gaming computer, one school computer (that also has d2 on sometimes..), and an old computer.
he has a gaming computer and an old computer. (and actually another laptop for work but no games on it)
he likes to play his main game (sadly usually not d2) on his main comp and then be mining on eve on his other computer.
i play diablo mostly on one computer with another logged in to d2 for either helping friends transfer or enchanting them.
but occasionally i'll use 3 or 4 comps at once for rushing or leveling jobs.
edit:
i think you can get muted for harassing people, trying to steal accounts, or advertising.

but i understand there's constraints that are based on limitations of both the site and with people's individual computers.
crushing blow, as far as i know, works with every melee skill.
deadly strike is the one that doesnt work with assassin kicks and i think it also doesnt work with paladin smite, but i could be wrong.
other than that, i think it's just the assassin skills that are screwy.
different mods work or don't work for blade fury, blade sentinal, and the kicks. (and they're not the same between those 3)

but the curriculum isn't that much different from MD, and you can still become any kind of doctor you'd want to be.
the biggest difference i think is that it may be harder to get a residency in some fields.
so there's always that too
that's what i'll probably do if i don't get accepted to the MD programs i'm applying to.
your next semester sounds terrible btw!
i'll be taking biochem next semester too though

was just experimenting, you don't have to be rude.
i thought putting in a gif of the skill in action and then pictures of the skill lvls 1-20 then lvl 48
unsynergized then synergized would be neat.
that's the kind of thing i would want to see rather than just the skill progression info that, of course, could also be added.
the assassin skills are overwhelming because you also have to explain the (very confusing) way kick damage is calculated.. what exactly works with kick and blade fury and what doesnt. (for instance ed works from some places and not others for kicks, and some mods like crushing blow work but others like deadly strike don't). the speeds of the kicks and charge up moves. how the character screen doesnt show you the correct damage (esp for charge up skills.) etc etc
but anyway just basically wanted to tell whoever msged me that i was just playing around and i erased it.

i think you should look into the md/phd programs that many med schools have. it is even more competetive than regular md, but it would allow you to practice medicine AND do research.
however i don't think it's too late for you to change majors.. better to be a year or two older than other students than be regretting your career choice 30 years from now.
If you're worried about the tests, i'd recommend a prep course. i took Kaplan's prep course for the MCAT, but i've heard Princestone Review's is better and i don't doubt it.

the default setting allows you to mouse over an item, see it's name and pick it up without pressing alt.

i couldn't find any of our 3 cd keys when we moved. so i had to buy two more for my bf and myself so we could play together again online from our primary computers.. but i still had copies installed on my other computers so when those were finally hooked up i had 5 working copies.
which is good because i like playing d2 with multiple computers.
however you can only have 4 cd keys connected to bnet from a single location without using a proxy.. so 1 of the 5 cannot be used.
i found like 1 classic key and 3 expansion disks of the original 3 cd key sets. if i could only figure out which classic key went with which expansion key i'd have one extra to give to a friend, but sadly they're all mixed up.

i preordered it mostly because of the music
i wish d3 sounded so good

i always wondered if it would appear to move if you got a tattoo of it.
that would be wicked.. crawling skin.
but even if it did work at first, think it would be ruined over time (by skin shifts due to aging) so that it wouldn't appear to move anymore.. and then it would just be an ugly tattoo

im so relieved she won't have long hair, (could have lived with bald or fuzzy).
the character i have been waiting for will look just like i want her to.

that caught my attention as well.
additionally i'm worried about hardcore. hardcore doesn't need bind on equip items for items to be consumed.
i can imagine that adding another level of consumption to a community that already has fewer items floating around due to deaths may not work out well.
and i'm still worried about what boe items will mean for the hardcore looting feature, if looting will even return.
