Starting at post #183, you will find the paragon cap discussion that was previously derailing a different thread. Just for those wondering where all the posts went and why all your posts ended up in this thread ;-)
Regarding the tone of the discussion, it is very borderline, but in my opinion still within the rules (though on the verge of some people getting infracted). I get that some of the claims are strong and against our intuition of how powerful we perceive paragon to be, but that does not give anyone the right to shift the tone to personal insults. Please keep it in line.
Shapookya perfectly explained the math why paragon makes less of a difference than what people think. And Wudijo's final sprint on the leaderboards adds to that example: he had 1300 less paragon, lower augments (probably another 300-400 paragon), lower gem levels (probably about ~10 less on average) - only his gear was just as good (if not better). So altogether, a difference of about 1600-1700 paragon, gem levels and gear probably equaled each other out. His final clear was 4 tiers lower, though he only spent about 200 keys or so on GR88 afaik and 1300 keys on GR92 - with the same amount of keys he would've cleared GR89 for sure, maybe with a bit of luck even GR90. So yes:
Shapookya is right with this sentence: "The difference between someone with P1000 and someone with P3000 are 3 griftlevels, maybe 4."
However, I think most people disagree with this sentence: "Paragon does not make a big difference."
Because when you're pushing for records, 3-4 tiers are the difference of being somewhere in the middle of nowhere on the leaderboards or top 100. On the 4 player leaderboards, it's even the difference between being rank 200 or NUMBER ONE. That is "yuge"!
Still, when you're paragon 1000 you're not just 4 levels below the paragon 3000 "top players". Why is that? Well, for a variety of reasons:
=> TL;DR: Paragon alone does not make as much of a difference as people think, especially in the age of Caldessan's. But having high paragon comes with other perks (mostly experience, skill, and knowledge) that widen the gap. Nevertheless, when discussing paragon changes we should stay objective and stay true to the facts.

Waiting for a NON-SEASONAL banwave as well. I logged in and checked, botters on my friend list are offline, but chars all there. They are scared to death i believe.

My 1k hours of gear farming are pretty real and I still have room for 3 big upgrades :\ Even with all of the things you mentioned it's still not easy to get full ancient, properly affixed gear with high rolls on the important things (key legendary effects, weapon damage, etc).
I also haven't seen a "bis" profile yet either. Not once, and I check wizards in leaderboards quite a lot (both solo and 4p).
If item hunting is your cup of tea, then in my experience there's plenty enough of it in this game. If you can't find it, you're just not looking.

Am I the only one that actually enjoys the mat shuffle? I have close to 1k hours played and 2k paragon on my Wizard (this season) and I still don't have a good ancient amulet or rings, and my weapon could use a significant upgrade. I don't feel like I'm particularly unlucky, as I always get an upgrade once every week or two, which I think is fine tbh because my gear is literally 3 steps away from 'perfect'. I'm also still looking for good pieces with higher int rolls than on my current set, as well as pieces with physical resistance for solo GR pushing purposes.
Mind you, I never do NB runs and I get like ~500 souls a day, I do bounties and I rarely have over 2k of any material. I think about items all the time while playing this game, so I can't really relate to this issue people are talking about (the game not being about items anymore etc). I don't know, it could be because I play Wizard? I guess gear matters much more for us than other classes at the moment for 4players, but don't you all still have solo specs which are extremely item dependent? I thought that's how support always worked - it's very easy to gear up support specs, and the main 'progression' is in solo (or another char).
My only gripe with D3 is the amount of time bounties and rifts take, and the fact that this time doesn't "scale" with your character power. I am farming T10 just as fast right now as I did months ago. And honestly, it's getting boring as hell to do those things. Why not introduce more Torment levels? Or make the world scale similarly to GRifts (infinitely)? The rewards should scale too, of course. Imagine doing Nephalem Rifts that are scaled like 95 GRs, but drop a whole bunch of keys. Or bounties which are actually hard and you run as a group (limit them to 1 act though in this case), doing 5 small objectives/mission as a group sounds pretty fun to me.
Would honestly not mind doing bounties/rifts for an hour or two every day. The problem is that very often I need significantly more time for it. Sometimes I get like 700-1000 forgotten souls in a day - that's 2.5-3 hours of running bounties (in a good group that does 15 min per run, which isn't always the case). Sure, I "like" bounties, but this is just too much... And then there's also Nephalem Rifts which have to be done, and they share the same gameplay and the same set of problems that I just described. Ugh.
Being so burned out over it right now literally makes me want to skip next season or just stop playing until there's a sense of progress in the 'farming' part of the game. It shouldn't be JUST about GRifts.

Imho, bots will go away on their own if the things that are so valuable to bot go away or are somehow redesigned. Botting XP right now is worthless, for example, which is great. People bot rift keys and bounties, because you need tons of rift keys for fishing and bounties are just boring as hell and are very time consuming. The solution I see is adding more Torment levels, or just allow us to scale difficulty of the world itself not just the rifts, with the rewards being scaled appropriately. Imagine if you could farm, like, 20 bounty mats per run in your insanely overgeared nerd elite 3k plvl squad on Torment 15? And if you could farm like 15 keystones at a time or something in Nephalem Rifts that are scaled like 95 GRs?
Don't take this too seriously btw I literally just came up with this right now. My point is just that the solution to botting should be in game design, not software. Make botting worthless or at least very close to worthless, then pop a couple banwaves to make people scared of using it for minor gains, and it'll be gone. Hacks and bots will still exist, and there will still be enthusiasts that make and use them, but that's basically a non issue if actual players don't want to risk their accounts for something that gives very little.
I also think that it'd be pretty cool if bounties and nephalem rifts could be actual group experiences, rather than something you invite people for just to make it faster while continuing to play just as if you're playing solo. The current design sucks imo. I don't even care who I invite most of the time, it's anonymous and feels like you're just "cheating the system" rather than doing something together as a group (not to mention that constantly recruiting people as they join/leave is a tedious pain in the ass, as well as making sure nobody screws up A3/A4).
Regarding the zero loot thing: I don't really agree, gear is still very important (or well, only for Wizards this season, but that's not the point). I still get hyped as fuck when I see an ancient Twisted Sword, Convention of Elements, Traveler's Pledge or Compass Rose, and I'm at 1k hours played on my Wizard this season. I still do bounties every day, and that's technically what the "item hunt" is about now (as lame as this is).
The real problem is that you reach a point where you lack only 1 or 2 slots very fast (weapons/jewelry in most cases), and the likelihood of the RG dropping something useful are close to non existent. At that point, upgrades and reforges become your only decent shot at getting new items. This is, imho, terrible design - when T10 becomes your best bet at getting new items on an endgame char, it's obvious that something is wrong. Possible solutions are making the RG drop bounty mats (or just something that will help you aim for certain items or certain slots), or perhaps increase his drop chance of rings/amulets and weapons specifically, because that's the slots that are actually hard to get. They could also do something new with Blood Shards - if shards were important, boss kills would be sought after more.
Basically, I think the problem isn't item progression itself. The problem is RG loot being worthless. Random bunch of items just doesn't cut it after a bit of play time. There needs to be something that helps us get specific items from it.

You already have a lot of strength. Usually 5000+ on a fresh level 70 crusader with some legendaries, most people should be around 10000, and high-end players have up to 25000 strength or even more. But even when you're only at 5000, that only increases your strength to 5280 - which is only a bit more than 5% damage increase.
That's why legendary gems are always preferred over normal gems in jewelry sockets (and really really important).
That being said, Taeguk is a very annoying gem as you constantly have to cast a resource spender to not lose the stack. Walking without casting something for more than 4 seconds, even switching zones or riding on your horse will lead to losing your stacks. There are other gems that most people prefer to use (such as Bane of the Trapped/Powerful/Stricken and so on).

i've never seen his stream. just few vods with haori shi mitzu. he spent days for indepth analytics and statistics, farmed 1300 keys manually etc etc, only pathetic noobs which will never be top150 can enjoy his ban

what is the reason for blizzard to make a new game if they can earn decent money on new expansion? it is their usual practice, developing addon is more profitable.
they've opened 3 or 4 vacancies for the new diablo-universe project few month ago, they've added first non-existing in d3 hero, the necromancer, in the HoTS, so I believe, we will have the announcement of the new addon on blizzcon on november)

it is bug, blizzard said they fixxed it in 2.4.1

tried this few days ago http://www.d3planner.com/448566485 with 2300 paragon and near to perfect gear
and it sucks))
attack speed is amazing, but have had run out of spirit every few seconds, had problems with survivability too. 75 gr was hard to close, and it is ridiculous. LTS is too bad compated to WoL and TR LoN builds

if you have a lot of attack speed, and use Breath of Heaven(infused with light) 100% of the time, you can have AC buff too. but this only happens in combat situations, when you have enough mobs to hit them

lol
this game is pure grind
and who cares about new or casual player at all? why the people who spend a lot of time for paragon lvling must be at the same situation as a new players? bullshit
