@Winged: Nice rig man. I use the original G1.Sniper in my own rig. X-FI onboard is amazing, saving lots of room for extra video cards.

@Cheomesh: You were able to go through the cathedral in Hellfire. It was just two extra areas you could go when you started a new game. Personally, I usually did the Hive after the Catacombs, and the Crypt after clearing level 16 in wait for the Diablo fight.

And kind of on topic, I remember playing the demo to death. There was no experience cap so I ended up with a level 18-20 Warrior (only class available in the demo), running only the first two levels of the Cathedral. Fun, Fun! Once I finally got bored, I snagged a copy off of Ebay for cheap. ........ Man I'm old ...

Lol :D Diablo1 was able to punish people that didn't open every door and chest by keeping content from them though. Very sly :P

Well, I am going to run through the game for good old time's sake, this time I will try to take a Sorcerer into Nightmare and Hell difiiculties. If I figure out how to unlock them, I think it had something to do with playing over LAN to unlock it on Single Player for that character... Thats how you get past lvl35 easy btw ;) And its supposed to be ridiculously hard.

Ferret, all you need to do is install the Hellfire expansion and then you'll have access to all 3 difficulties. I believe the minimum level restrictions still apply. Oh and don't forget about command.txt to unlock 2 additional classes, 2 quests, and lan play.

For those that don't remember create a text file called command.txt in your hellfire folder with the following single line in it (each word should be seperated by a single space):

    bardtest barbariantest cowquest theoquest multitest

This may not unlock everything immediately, you may have to play around with the order of the words to make everything work (I had the hardest time with multitest). Also, if you want to get the auric amulet (the one that allows you to keep 10,000 gold per stack) get rid of the cowquest word. That quest replaces the one you get from the farmer, who gives you the amulet.

Yeah, lol, sieging a city with a wizard would be pretty funny because all you have to do is teleport over the wall open the gate and you're done ^_^, then you simply own the city by yourself because you can. Anyway, good idea though, of having a big battle between NPCs as allies, and enemies, and you in the middle making things fly with your frost novas :P.

If the city you were sieging was important enough, I'm sure there would be some sort of magic dampening field or something that would prevent said teleporting and drastically weaken any spells cast directly at the city walls.

I like the idea though. Seiging a city would be mad fun.

I'd have to say my fondest memory of Diablo/Hellfire was playing the 2 level demo over and over and over until my character was over level 20. Fun Fun.

Then, there was my first venture King Leoric's Tomb. "Prepare yourself mortal!" If I remeber correctly I died on my first run through, and was thoroughly pissed when I realized I hadn't saved since the middle of level 1.

Then there was the masses and masses of skeletons in the Chamber of Bone. This was before I knew how useful firewall could be. All I can say is thank God for the door trick.

Next was the book that opens The Halls of the Blind. "Vision milky, then eyes rot." Best read in the entire game!

I remember the first time watching the cutscene when you entered Lazarus's area and asking "Is he black?" If anyone knows the answer to this do tell.

After that, was the first time I ever saw the Immolation spell from the expansion. Far more fun than even Apocalypse.

And last was killing Ne'Krul and seeing "Book of Apocalypse" drop.

You probably won't find me on any of the PVP servers when D3 comes out. I'm just not really into that sort of thing. However, if you'd like to slaughter hordes and hordes of demons then by all means, LET'S DO IT!!

Heheheh, LoL.....I so knew SOMEONE would try to be funny.

If you're even a little bit serious or if anyone else happens to be clueless, Vermont is in the northeast USA between New York and New Hampshire.

Hi All. Been lurking around ever since the speculation started of a possible Diablo III. Since the official announcement, I've been here just about every day hoping for some new news and I gotta say, you guys are great! The articles and interviews you've found and linked to have been really fun to read, and even the speculation on things like story line and such have been awesome. I suddenly found myself with the desire to make some replies to the great threads about so here I am, finally a registered member.

I've been hooked on Diablo ever since I got my hands on the demo of Diablo I. Ya'll know the demo I'm talking about, the one where you had only the warrior and the first two levels of the cathedral to explore. I played that demo to DEATH. I remember, by the time I ordered my full version (got it on EBay back when EBay was still in its infancy), I had a Level 23 Warrior with every piece of his gear "of the moon." Yes, thats right, Level 23 with only having the first two levels to explore. I'm not sure if the experience cap was in place at the time of the demo (where if you were too high a level for the area you would gain no experience), but it was definately possible.

My favorite class in the original Diablo was the Bard. One of the two in the HellFire expansion that you had to unlock with command.txt. Something about having the Identfy skill from the start and watching 3 adjacent monsters die with one swing (thanks to dual wield) was just awesome! My favorite skill in the original was Immolation (another addition to the game thanks to HellFire). I had more fun with that skill than even Apocalypse, and thats saying something.

In Diablo II my favorite class was the Sorceress, with my favorite build being Meteorb. I loved Diablo II, but I did have one major gripe with it. I really didn't like the amount of outdoors areas. I wanted it to be more dungeon crawl than it was and that was a bit disappointing. I did play it a lot though and it was a really fantastic game. I don't know how much the following statement is going to affect my "hardcore fandom" but I'll say it anyway: To this day I still have not ever beaten the game on hell difficulty without cheating. I'm not much of an online player and thats probably why, but Hell is nearly impossible to complete solo.

Well, I didn't intend this post to be the wall of text that it is, sorry 'bout that. I'll end it with a bit about myself. My name is Joe, and I hail from Vermont, USA (if you ask me what state that's in I'll get upset). I'm 26 years old (27 this coming November) and have been an avid Diablo fan since the original demo was released. I can't wait for Diablo III and I really hope they don't do what they did with Diablo II. That is, announce it....then release it three years later. Though, I suppose I'd rather have a complete game rather than a buggy game, like so many companies are releasing now adays. Thanks for reading this, and I'll be seeing ya'll around.
