posted a message on Multiple Firebird set bugs?

    Hello everybody!

I don't know if this has been posted here before (at least, could not find the information by forum search), but I've faced several rather puzzling things when trying out Firebird set. Are these known bugs or is everything "working as intended"? I enclose screenshots of several buggy situations (under spoilers).

    1) Sometimes when an Elite is Ignited I do not gain damage bonus from Firebird stacks. As you can see, Butcher is on fire and my toughness is considerably increased due to that, but Firebird icon is not displayed in buff panel and I had to spend almost 10 minutes killing him on T7. RoRG was cubed, that's why I only wear 5 FB items.

    2) Sometimes both damage and toughness buffs fail to activate upon Igniting an Elite mob. This time I had all 6 pieces to prevent possible conflicts with RoRG.

    3) While damage reduction buff is supposed to work with 6p bonus, it is nevertheless activated when only 4 or 5 pieces are equipped (no RoRG in cube during this time). It happens really often and sometimes even FB stacks are displayed in the buff panel for a second (never was fast enough to get them on a screenshot). Yeah, it is good to have damage reduction on 4p instead of 6p, but it is in contradiction with set bonus description thus should be considered a bug, IMHO...

What do you think about it? I, personally, don't wanna find myself without damage and toughness when fighting Maltael on T13 or Rift Guardian in higher GRs on HC. Has it already been reported to Blizz or should I create a thread at official forums?

Well, with Season 7 over I can finally confirm that RNGesus likes to tease me <_< Hundreds of rifts, countless shards dumped into 1-H weapons and lots of ceremonial knives upgraded to legendaries - still no precious Sacred Harvester for me... However, I've got 5 SMKs and 6 Daggers of Darts completely useless for Jade Doc :P

posted a message on Left click rapid fire

I'm currently using the wheel scrolling for moving, and yes, it can be very useful in cases you don't want to accidentally click on something and ruin your plan. Like Shapookya said, additional mouse buttons also do the work and can be more comfortable.

However, there is one moment that makes MY wheel better. I'm using Logitech Performance MX mouse with Hyper-Fast Scroll technology - in this mode the wheel rotates almost without friction and can keep rolling for 8-10 seconds after the initial finger movement. The computer recognizes this continuous spinning as a long series of separate clicks (called "rapid fire" by OP).

The most interesting thing I've discovered recently is that these wheel commands reset the commands coming from my keyboard, from the buttons that I'm holding pressed down. So, for example, if I'm holding "1" for Explosive Blast while wheel-controlled running, it will activate on cooldown without any crazy button mashing or NumPad trick.

Since this possibility comes from actual mechanical option of the mouse and not from any kind of software, I don't think that it can be considered a macro and thus shouldn't be bannable (if macros turn out to be bannable at all). Didn't use it during season (didn't play those spammer Wiz and Sader builds), don't know if such tricks were punished during banwaves. May be they can still be regarded as automation... What do you think?

i have mostly 16bit flacs. but have some SaCDs too.
i ll use it mostly in bus. not loudy as streets i think.
my preferred device is zx100 with sony XBA-Z5 headphones. also have Fiio E6 amp.
ofcourse there is better options then sony players but i think other devices cost me even more. for long years i trust sony's quality and its just enough for me. example my walkman still works that i bought at 98. and my discman works just fine over 15yrs old.
im not an ''audiophile'' for sure but i want to listen better sound with an easy portable setup.

Well, it seems that you've got a pretty good setup here with XBA-Z5 and Fiio E6. Didn't now the level of your headphones when writing my comment. I think that ZX100 will be a good variant for you then, the only alternative for that price being ASTELL&KERN AK Jr. However, I've heard that it has some troubles with Windows 10 or MacOS so if you don't want to dance around it with tambourine, just buy ZX100.
I don't think that more powerful players like Colorfly C4 or ASTELL&KERN AK120 will give you a improvement in sound quality over ZX100 that is worth paying for, at least if you're not in the quiet room. I personally use Beyerdynamic T1 and (with proper amp) couldn't find any real differences between my iBasso DX100 and Colorful C4. So I wouldn't spend my money on something that I all the same would not be able to hear. But it's up to your own ears ;)
BTW, I'm sure that a lot of people will call you "Crazy Audiophile" just looking at the price of your headphones :P

posted a message on Hi-Res MP3 player advice

Being an "audiophile" myself I can give you a couple of advices about portative players. Sure a good stand-alone player beats a smartphone in the field of sound quality, but you should ask yourself, where and how will you listen to the music?

    1) You said about many records you have - are they on CDs or Vinyl LPs? Or SuperAudio CDs, maybe? Because those expensive Hi-Res players will only give you sensible advantage if you use a very high-quality source. Standard CD flacs encoded in 16bit/44.1kHz will not give you better performane if you play them in a Hi-Res player or even upsample them to 24bit/192kHz - you just cannot generate the information that isn't in the source. Only digitalized LPs and originally Hi-Res SACDs can give you something more.

    2) What headphones do you have? Acquiring better headphones can result in much better performance than a new player. With cheap headphones you will not be able to discerm MP3 320 kbps from flac. I'd recommend something like Audio-Technica ATH-m40x or Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO if you want to get all the minor details from lossless-encoded tracks. Only upper-class headphones like Denon AH-D600 or Sennheiser HD650 can give you difference between usual CD and Hi-Res record or vinyl LP.

    3) You re talking about portative player - so, I suppose, you're gonna use it in the street, not in the quiet room. There are no headphones that are able to completely eliminate the noise from outside (even with active noise cancelling) and this noise won't allow you to hear the minor music details.

    TL:DR

If you're not a crazy audiophile who wants to spend a lot of money on golden cables and just want to lislen to music grabbed from CDs - choose the cheap one and don't bother with Hi-Res. However, I would recommend you to look at Cowon players, especially Cowon X9 - their sound is better than Sony and they have more options and effects (if you like crazy bass, for example). If you want to listen to the music with best possible quality - buy expensive Hi-Res player, but be prepared to spend a lot of additional money on good headphones.

Just wondering something about the malevolent tormentor (legendary goblin).

Has anyone ever got something decent from it?

I seem to remember it always dropping those C-tier legendaries. You know, those that don't even have a legendary power or those that are considered just really really gimicky/poor.

It's come to the point where I'm not even excited anymore to see one. Not that I mind, it's kind of funny in a strange way that he only drops crap. But still I'm wondering if someone else has had better luck or that it might in fact be a design choice.

This season I looted Furnace and SMK from Malevolent Tormentors, so they definitely CAN drop high-end loot. But overall chance for a rare leg is still the same as with common legendary drops. So, to get Furnace (~5% Weighted Chance) you still have to drop at least 20 2H Maces from Tormentors (I know that the math is a lot more complex, just trying to simplify). So you can just get excited again upon encountering Tormentor - RNGsus sometimes smiles to those who believe in luck :P

For example, I've lost a great ancient Archon wand on my Wiz due to server lag on HC <_< . I was sad but then thought to myself: "Ah, nevermind! Lost a gift, I'll find another one!". Leveled up new Wiz, and in my second grift dropped another ancient Chantodo and 2 (yes, two!) Gifts simultaneously from single Guardian! :D So just keep hope alive!

posted a message on Archon Activation lag?

    Hello there, experienced Archon players!

During last three days I've faced an unexpected trouble with game performance using lightning Archon build. Usually my game runs well with ping of about 60-70 ms, if there is a large group of mobs on the screen ping may go up to 150 ms, but that's acceptable. But at some moment when I activate Archon, I immediately get a huge lag spike of 10-15 seconds that often results in disconnect from server! And this shit happens not in high, but in relatively low GRs (35-40 lvl) where I don't need to pull massive amounts of mobs! I went into some testing and sometimes lag strikes even when I'm activating Archon in town!

I've already lost 2 wizards because of this spike (I'm on HC), and I've almost lost my wish to experience high GR Archon gameplay :(. I can tell that it's not my ISP failure because I've got a connection tracker running and there were no disconnects on my side. I've never seen such lags while playing Firewall WD or DelRasha though I got to middle 50-s and pulled a lot of mobs to one place. Has anyone faced similar troubles and, maybe, someone knows the cause and solution?

posted a message on Hardcore is dead...

So, today I've experienced my first RIP caused by Blizz servers (not the first RIP ever for me, of course) - and it was the most stupid thing I've seen sinse I started playing D3

Just assembled my Archon Wiz, powerleveled to 70 and tried my first solo grift (lvl 40). Made it almost to RG in less than 5 minutes, just ran through a clear place without monsters - BOOM, "connection to the server is lost". Well, ok, I press "OK" and see my toon in the menu still alive. I try to start a new game and get "Game Creation Error"! I Log out, restart D3, toon is still alive, I try to start a game - the same error! 3 minutes have passed since disconnect occured, my connection works perfectly, but I still can't create a game... And then, after 3 minutes I see a message appearing in Clan chat that my toon is dead because some white monster came from somewhere and killed it!

So, I've got no ideas except for the game itself played with my Wiz after the disconnect and lead him into the grave :P If I remember right, toon should disappear from the game after 10 seconds, so something was definitely wrong with the server. Let's hope that 2.4 will finally improve the performance. I'll try to stay HC unless we will see really serious issues on 2.4 PTR.

Well, thank you, mate! Always thought that in HC if you're dead - then you're dead, no exceptions, already reconciled myself to it. Gonna try it now.

Just another proof that even the worst accidents do not ruin everything :P

Edited: Well, it seems that dead HC heroes can't be revived via account rollback <_< Okay, let's farm some more stuff again!

posted a message on My season is over...

Even if there is no RNG in the game, those who want to moan and complain still will moan and complain -_- We should better admit that in its current state, D3 is not nearly a well balanced competition game. There is no equation that would connect time spent grinding and GRift lvl, just pure luck on top of skills. And sometimes, even if you're lucky as hell with your drops, something different comes to slap you in the face...

I'm not a pro player, rather casual, GR 39 is still my record for now, Para 320. But I've always played HC because I like the thrill and I don't like to be reckless Glass Cannon that has nothing to lose. And guess what? Yesterday I've finally got my Ancient BK sword, then within an hour I've got Gift for it! Yep, I was so happy, cleared GR 39 without any troubles. RNG is good for me?

Today I decided to run some GRs, enetred 27 lvl, faced an Elite with Arcane affix - and BOOM! Someone decides that it's a good moment to switch off electricity in my district. Just for 2-3 minutes, but that was enough - hello, Old Friend, Smoky Screen! Bye-bye, my weapon and Gift, i'll be missing you!

So, if it's not for RNG, then real life shit kicks in.

But what did I do? Did I wrote a topic at DiabloFans about how cruel life is and how I will never be able to get to leaderboards because of who knows what? Did I revive an old HC topic about protection from disconnects? Nope, I just created new Barb and continued playing. I still have more than 2 months of Season 3 to get lucky again (and probably RIP again)!

So, everyone who is sad about not getting their desired items, just cheer up, go smash some demon skulls and remember that you didn't get your items YET! In Season 2 I've managed to enter Leaderboards just 2 days before the Season ended. Yes, it was a boring 800-something place, but I was happy, because I didn't even hope to get there! GL and HF, friends!

Well, late RoRG is better than no RoRG at all, isn't it? Congrats and use the remaining Season 2 time to get as much as you can from your M6 setup. Explore the higher GRifts, check what is awaiting you in the future to be fully prepared for S3. Sadly, I didn't manage to get my DH to M6 level this season, so I will concentrate on Monk till the end of Season (or till sudden disconnect, lol). Barb seems to become a very cool class next Season, WD has a lot of interesting options too, even though he doesn't get new set (I still hope that Blizz will improve Helltooth set in the future, S4 maybe?). So good luck and hope to see a new diary from you!

Hey-hey, I'm eager to see your updated armory, mate! It's so exciting to get several updates per game session and see your toon to easily deal with enemies that seemed to be too tough just an hour ago!

There were some M6 builds that didn't include RoRG as a mandatory item in Patch 2.1.1, but then you had not to spend your hatred using CA. Now you'd better use Pride's Fall or Cindercoat to reduce Hatred cost which means you'll have to go through some Bounty circles. Just hope that RNG will favor you, as I can see, you've caught your train with all those Mara pieces. I think that a good way for you to spend your time will be to go through GRifts up to the point where you slow down a bit (since you're capable of T4, I'd say up to GR15), then kill everything as fast as you can, spawn the Rift Guardian with 7-8 minutes left and go do some fast bounty, then return to RG with enough time to kill it. Rinse, repeat. It'll take 2-3 times to set your timing and do the cycle right. So you get both shards, legs from RG and bounties without spending too much time.

And gamble for Chest Armor, you'll need Mara or Cindercoat, everything else is far less crucial for DH (yep, Balckthorn and Aughild are out of competition).

Also, if you're still using +%Cold bracers, try Maelstrom rune for CA, because it will be a multi-purpose skill for you:

    1) It's Cold Damage

    2) It's using rockets buffed by Ballistics

    3) It slows enemies down and triggers Cull the Weak and BotT bonuses

    4) It heals you for each enemy hit

Dunno if lower damage from rockets will make it worse than Shooting Stars, there are more rockets, so more AoE. I think it's worth trying.

Gratz, your Amulet is good, you should feel the difference in numbers, right? CC and CHD are the most important stats for damage output, so If you come across a ring with Dex/CC/CHD/Socket, use it, even if it's yellow, until you get RoRG and SoJ/Unity. Set bonus from Legacy of Nightmares is just laughable, drop it without regret if you get any upgrade ring.

I don't think that in mid-game (before M6 bonus) DH is really OP in comparison to other classes. Monk - yea, he is OP, being able to demolish T3 in full yellow gear and getting past T6 just after getting 3 Sunwuko items. Meanwile, after disconnect loss of my new DH, I switched to Monk and was a bit lucky with him finding some build-making items. Even considering HardCore shift from max DPS to survivability (only 600 k sheet DPS), he's moving through GR30+ like a bulldozer through the field of roses. That's what I call OP 8-).

Anyway, good luck on getting M4 soon and getting as much fun from your game as you can!
