    Hey guys,

The recent news posts have looked great, and the PvP editorial kicked some serious ass.

I have a strong feeling we're going to see a ramp up in D3 news over the next 1-3 months, and I think by having editorial teams, people writing news, and a strong moderation staff we'll be in a unique position to take some traffic from the other big Diablo sites.

At this time it's absolutely crucial to keep news and updates flowing, in a time when there are few available, I've given Sixen lots of ideas for editorial content and things he can write about, but this is something we absolutely have to stay on top of. With that in mind if you think of something that might make an interesting editorial piece please let him or I know!! (My MSN is DDuncan@curse.com) Also contact one of us if you'd like to try your hand at some articles.

Moving forward we need to absolutely be the #1 destination for the Diablo 3 information seekers and community joiners. To achieve this we will have to really be on our toes, being FIRST-TO-BAT with news and updates is crucial and for that we rely heavily on the awesome teams we're setting up here.

We're also blessed to own a very nice domain for the Wiki, so keeping information there updated and recent will help us rank better on search terms and as the buzz for D3 grows so will that site, which we'll also use to push Dfans and vice versa.

With that in mind let's make sure we're all conversing regularly and getting the job done we need to do in order to make DiabloFans #1.
I'm also going to ask Sixen to put together a list of the 4-5 biggest contributors and most helpful site staff over the next 4-6 weeks and those people will get a nice little Curse giftbag! :D

I feel great about the site and the direction we're heading! Keep it up everyone!

Well we'd sure like it to be homely. There's always mixed feelings regarding a "big brother" network getting involved with a smaller fansite. The truth of the matter is fansites are expensive. I'm a gamer, my loyalties lie with the community and the games that I'm a fan of, if I ever felt something was wrong or a community was getting shafted I'd be the FIRST to step up with a big old w t somethin'.

The fact is Curse's been footing the server bill and staffing the website now for a long time. They've also spent lots of development hours and dollars on making sure the site can compete with other fansites, and in terms of community it's their #1 goal to make the site as friendly, as "homely", and as informative as possible.

There's really nothing lost by Curse involvement, and the benefits are astounding. The people put in place to work on the community are 100% tuned-in to the game (I've played 15 hours of D2 this week and it's only Friday, and Sixen's a bigger newb than I am), so it's important to me, on a personal level, that changes and additions are seen for what they really are; trying to put the best people in place for the community and the success of the fansite. This includes getting the right guides, news, and information up on the website in a timely fashion by the most passionate people possible.

I think Phrozen didn't do as good of a job explaining some of the staff losses as he could have. Most of the recent step downs were admins leaving of their own free will, and in the case of the real losses, Seth for example, it had nothing to do with Curse, and I consider me and Seth pretty good friends - he just said, as cited by his post in the mod forum, that he's just too busy to be giving the site the attention it deserves. So the timing might make it look like something else is going on, but for the most part it's business as usual, but with more plans of enhancement and more focus on the community, than ever before :D
