    Quote from "vladdracul" »
PvP in Diablo 2 may look at that way on the surface but underneath you have 1 of the most decorated and complete PvP experiences ever, the only thing to match it is a FPS.
Diablo PvP is extremely fast paced, relies on reflexes and aiming your skills, knowing the field and what you are fighting are key things also needed to win good duels.

MMO pvp on the other hand is babied out. Auto aim skills. Jump around for 9 hours doing absolutely nothing but hitting 1 or f1. Knowing map means very little since skills are auto aimed. No need for reflexes since you can't dodge or evade attacks.
Also 90% of duels in MMO's end up with the kid crying and getting 90 guild members to jump you or heal him, MMO duels tend to last an ungodly amount of un-needed time, whereas in Diablo I can run numerous fun challenging duels before 1 boring hit for hit duel in an MMO ends.

To sum it up no game can even hold a candle to Diablo's pvp beside a FPS game cause Diablo's pvp has all the elements of a FPS but as an Action RPG.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that Diablo had the greatest PvP. It definately had it's ups though. The one and only way to actually find fun duels in the D2 era was to join Legit PvP matches held in private games.

No one can deny that public games were sloppy and unsportsman like. Some of the worst dueling in gaming history. It basically went along these lines:

    1) Early D2. Amazon spamming "guided arrow" towards town exit, along with the pierce value, a single arrow would hit you 10 times. Anyone fool enough to step out would instantly die, or be trapped in an endless blocklock until death. Then came the Naked Kills when you wanted to grab your stuff. Lead to alot of people logging out in order to recover stuff but losing all their cash.

    2) Mid D2: Sorceress spamming Teleport in random locations with the lightning storm skill actively striking anyone in sight without any requirements for the sorc char to actually aim. It plagued the community for a good 3 months.

    3) pre 1.09 Hacked characters. Hacked Javazons, hacked Pallys, hacked Bowazons, hacked sorceresses. It was an unholy rape of D2. Then came level 30 characters equiped with a crystal sword who were invincible with millions of life points. They were the end of all public D2 PvP pre 1.09.

    4) 1.09 most duped, hacked chars are finished, including legit ones who had their skills nerfed vonluntarily, and involuntarily. (e.g. my thrower barb who had 10 K damage per jav legit, had his physical damage nerfed to oblivion. ) Then came the age of elemental damage, and magic damage, runewords, etc.

You had sorcs with 10 K fireballs artillery shooting from another area code own PvPing. Barbarians who tele whirlwinded, and the worst plague of all legit dueling, town trap assassins. They exit for a milisecond, throw a trap or two and re enter town.

And it just got worse as time went by in any public dueling game.

So to conclude, I really saw a huge array of flaws in D2 PvP, which could of been prevented with proper PvP implementation/rule system. Unfortunately, the community had to take matters into their own hands and create private PvPing to avoid the plague at every corner of Bnet.

On the other hand, legit and fair dueling was very exciting due to the complexity of D2's fighting mechanics. Fps, To Hit%, Fbr, etc. etc. You could tweak characters like race cars and it really gave D2 a depth that no other game had at that time. So I hope they can build on those good parts to make PvPing a strong and FAIR part of D3.

Decrepify does exactly the same as Amplify damage, -100% physical resistance of affected creatures i.e. double skeleton damage. It also slows down monsters, and makes them deal less damage.

Dim Vision is just an useful tool for separating hordes of monsters. You only use it on mobs you aren't killing right now, and to make ranged creatures not attack.

Also get a nightmare offense act 2 mercenary for a might aura.

Melee characters are the best for Tristram.

Even with all this, any boss with area of effect (AoE) Damage, would just utterly annihilate your army of skeletons?

Plus even though a Boss is slowed down, he still has cast speed for spells... Unless that is affected as well?

I think this is pretty fair. If your LAN party has a single computer with internet connection, you're set. You just share the connection to boot up the games and then LAN it up.

    P.S. I don't care about LAN.

    True.

Plus we're not in the age of dial-up anymore. Any body who's somebody already has a decent enough connection to play on Bnet2 at the same speed as LAN, unless they live under the mountains of Afghanistan...

P.S. I care even less about LAN

-Sorc MFed 1000X better than a necro.

+Sorc MF'ed better then all the classes. The sorceress was the premier MF class. So, by your definition the Sorc is better then the Paladin, Amazon, Assassin, etc as well.
True, but at least the Pally owns PvP in PvP equally with Sin, and the Zon owns PvM and Bosses. So my point wasn't only that the sorc was better then everyone but everyone else has a specific strength.
    Quote from "LinkX" »

-Assassin and Pally PK/PvP 1000X better than a necro.

+That is your opinion. Yes, the Paladin is OP in PvP, but in the proper hands any class can defeat any class, and in the not-so-proper hands, any class can be defeated by any class. So this point is mute.
Yeah, but if you take two of the same skill duelers and give one of them the OP Pally, there is no reason he should lose.

It's kinda obvious if you put an uber pally in the hands of an idiot he will lose, it doesn't need to be confirmed by anyone. So this is mute as well.
    Quote from "LinkX" »

-Javazons and Hammerdins solo Hell and bosses 100000X better than a necro.

+Actually the Javazon has problems in Hell due to Light Immunes, whereas the Necromancer's bone skills are just like the Hammerdin's hammers, IE they have no immunes. Now, if your refering to the weapons that remove immunities, then you must be saying that all classes are equal. Otherwise the Paladin is on equal footing as the Necromancer.
++Actually the Javazon's secondary skill of Jab is more then enough to deal with any Lightning Immunes, one jab is all you need unless you hit a Lightning Immune Unique Monster. Plus with her survivability she is much more durable than a Necro.

    Quote from "LinkX" »

-Ive heard of Hammerdins soloing Ubers, not necros..

+Actually Smitadens are better then Hammerdins in Ubers. And there are builds for Necromancers for defeating Ubers, just like there are builds for Sorceresses, Amazons, Druids, Barbarians, and Assassins. So this point is mute.
++Actually there are thousands of builds for everything, but it doesn't mean that they are actually successful at doing it. Let me know when you see a Druid/Assassin/Barbarian solo ubers in Hardcore, I just haven't seen that yet. I don't mean they don't exist, just never seen it, maybe you would enlighten me.
    Quote from "LinkX" »

-Oh yeah, game lagging, Necro really does it 1000 X better than everyone else. I do admit.

+Summonmancers are not Bonemancers. Summonmancers are not Poisonmancers. And again, bonemancers cause just as much lag as Hammerdins.
True, but pure bonemancers struggle in soloing, so If you do make one, youll probably need to be rushed. The Hammerdin won't. However I do admit that they won't lag the game.
    Quote from "LinkX" »

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Hammerdins, or any class for that matter. But it's silly to use stereotypes to dismiss a class.

I do admit some of my points are stereotypes, (lag) but you can't dismiss that some aren't and the Necro does lack a specific area of expertise.

Not trying to be right, just arguing my point on why I don't admire the char, but as you said, to each his own opinion. ^_^ I just like debating mine, and I do respect yours.

Edit- Hmmm...you seem to have access to some secret poll about who finds necro to be best char or not. Will you share the results?

Well if you like polls so much, why don't you make one out of this thread. It will probably equate to 99%. But before you say" well, that doesn't mean everyone!" Let me remind you that polls never encompass everyone.

Otherwise, just take my post as an exaggeration.

    Quote from "Nekrodrac" »

Why oh why do so many people like necro when he's so bad? We wonders preciousss...we wonders...

Seems some people misunderstood my post, let me quote myself

Not that I'm a necro hater either..I thought he was a great character.
Although sometimes a pissoff lagger, he was what I considered an original concept.

The thing is that he wasn't nearly as good as other chars at doing the same shit.

So I don't recall seing the phrase, he is bad in there. Not as good as someone else doesn't equate to bad. Otherwise that would be like saying every NBA player sucks at Basketball since they aren't as good as M.J.

Like I said before, if summoning mindless skeletons and kicking back while they have fun, blowing corpses in empty rooms and making walls of bone is your thing... Then by all means.

I can honestly say that the necro is the only character I ever fell asleep on while playing. Summoner is way too easy, when your summons get powerfull, you don't even have to dodge or do anything really. Just kinda walk through every room and watch the action unfold.

Kinda like watching someone else play a game...

The only time you are proactive, is when you hit a phys immune in Hell Difficulty. Then you actually require a right click to curse him.

posted a message on In the aftermath of Big Mike
4 days later, a few words exchanged with Bashiok, and we seem to finally have won Blizzard's attention. For those of you living under a rock, there was a blogger on Blizzard's forums who had posted a thread of sincere complaints about the 1.13 patch. In this heart felt post, he had pretty much wrapped up everyone's opinion, worries and disapointment over the apparent lack of involvment the community was given on the first release of the long awaited patch.

I had resumed his e-mail in this thread for those who would like to read Big Mike's email. http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23992

It seems like we all owe him a big one, cause apparently he made enough noise to have the big heads at Blizzard reconsider their imput into 1.13!

Does this mean we will finally get what we wanted out of this patch, or just some more empty promises?

Here is the official quote from Blizztracker on the 1.13 patch.

    Official Blizzard Quote:

    Well the community certainly has been active since the PTR went up. Bashiok has given us some guidelines for posting as follows;
??? All post should have a subject line that clearly describes the bug or feedback being given
??? Use the search feature to ensure a thread doesn't already exist before posting
??? When reporting a bug include as much information as you can, including steps to reproduce it if possible
??? Any non-constructive posts may be deleted and the poster's privilege to post revoked
??? This is a chance for you to ensure the 1.13 patch includes changes and balance tweaks that you think would lead to a better overall experience. Getting the information to us in a clear and logical way helps us understand your view and makes it easier for us to collect feedback for any potential updates to the 1.13 patch before release.

I will summarize the most popular threads below to simply it for Bashiok and anyone else who doesn't feel like scrolling through 200 threads to review the voice of the community.
This is not my opinion although I may mention my opinion as I describe the threads. It is a list of the most popular thread issues direct from the PTR forum.

    1) Runes need to be more obtainable. Although we appreciate the increased drop rate it simply is not enough. Aside from upping the drop rate gambling runes, rune shrines, hell forge quest reward upgrade are just some of the ideas that have been brought up.

    http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21730646142&sid=3000

    2) A new way to gain experience would be nice. The most popular way seems to be to make the cow level give more experience. There have been some other suggestions , one of which that jumps out at me is an endless end game dungeon and most would support it but I doubt it is something we will see.
    http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21723844882&sid=3000

    3) A way to stop bots spamming in games, channels and farming items. A captcha has been suggested but there seems to be a large % of the community against the captcha idea.
    http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21730685883&sid=3000

    4) Bug fixes. While the biggest include TPPK, Aura stacking and drop barbs there are a number of minor bugs that would be nice to see fixed as well. There are a lot of details in these threads.

    5) There is a concern hat with respect, the removal or Iron maiden and the nerfing of souls the game is becoming easier. I am sure this is debated although I have not actually read the thread myself.

    6) I am sure everyone would like to see new items as long as they are balanced with the ones we currently have. The more choices the more unique our characters can be. New Unique and Rune words have been suggested.

    7) The enigma/tele debate rages on???
    http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21730685011&sid=3000

    8) There is a lot of discussion about skill (single or tree) balancing. Here are some of the more popular threads. There are a lot more! Some of the things that keep coming up are Assassin Martial Arts and Druid fire skills,

    http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21730685771&sid=3000

    9) There is little debate that the community no longer supports the way the Dclone spawn and Annihilus charm is obtain. It seems to be felt that it currently promotes duping. Although most players appreciate the experience and charm itself we would like would like to see this changed.
    http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=21723845867&sid=3000

Although there are a lot of threads that are not included here and may be some ideas that do not fall into these 9 categories, I think this covers most of it. For those of you reading this please bump this post so it can be used a resource. For those of you who have threads you feel should have been including please add your thoughts to one of the posts above. They are the most popular, which means most read and most likely for Blizzard to take suggestions from.

Lets cross our fingers that a good % of these categories get looked at.

I dont get how so many people became Necromancer Nut Huggers.
Every time I log on to Diablofans.com, all I seem to be reading about
are people crying over the fact that the barb got the comeback spot
    over the game lagging Necromancer.

I just don't think he was that good. The only way he ever did anything
relevant was by spamming homing missiles (Bone Spirit) or by using the
overpowered teleport from Enigma, matched with the lack of clipping
balance with summons who would all focus in the center whenever you teleported, to insta kill in PvP.

Thats' just lame in my book. Kinda like Tele+WW.
Clay,Blood,Fire golems couldn't kill shit. Only an Iron Golem
could but that's just cause he had Iron Maiden.

Skellies were powerful, but were useless in PVP unless matched
with Teleport for focus fire. Since they were so stupid.

Curses were the only thing usefull about a necro in a multiplayer game.

Everytime Hardcore Baal Runs would encounter summoners, everyone would leave since they lagged the shit outa the game.

Poison spells couldn't do shit unless u had 0 resist to poison...

Some will jump on this post and claim Corpse Explosion was so godly, but was it?
In a good Multiplayer game with strong chars, you wouldn''t even have time to blow
up anything before the other players were done with every monsters in the room.

One frozen orb, a Hammer, and a Lightning Jav and boom!, nothing to explode but air.

So...what's so good about the necro again?

Unless a boss has a special attribute, such as a dragon being immune to fire, they shouldn't be immune to anything. Just highly resistant to everything in general. Also , they could give some particularly uber bosses a particular weakness. In a way that cannot be exploited, maybe by giving it a good AI.
