posted a message on Blizzard, Starcraft II trilogy, D3 and YOU!
Seems like there has been a lot more dissappointment over the news of the SC thing and the skill point thing in diablo this Blizzcon rather than excitement.

I myself have decided to stop following the progress of Starcraft due to this news.
I am still in it for D3 but there are valid concerns regarding the low polygon counts in the characters. Think about it. In 1 - 2 years when its released those graphics are going to be ancient (They are already outdated.

I have faith in Blizz but I have a little less after that SC news.

I must wonder then, what does the mouse buttons do.
Presumably, clicking anywhere with the left button will get you there but what of the right one?, because its clearly won't change your camera angel.

Right mouse button is also mapped to skills.

posted a message on The hotbar is more old-school than people think
    From Thasdor's post http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15277

Thasador reporting in from Blizzcon in Anaheim, CA.

Playing the demo version of Diablo III, right off the bat I noticed something familiar. Hot key #1-6 on your key board are reserved for spells/skills casting. Much like the free online RPG game 2moons, you are able to cast a spell with a quick touch of any of the designated hotkey space.

Yes I am very petty and came back here just to say, lol Dimebog was wrong, blah, blah, blah, etc.

posted a message on Picking up Gold
This is going to turn into the same type of thread as Dimebog had going with whether or not the hotbar skills took and extra click or not to use (press the hotkey, aim the cursor, click the mouse). I tried looking for an interview or blue post that explicitly said it is autopickup but could not find one.

To some people(me included) it is obviously on autopick up (yes you can click it to pick it up too) but to other people it doesn't look the same. We will just have to wait and see.

I'm sure someone has already posted something similar to this, but here's my short and simple idea:

Instead of constantly having to click on gold piles, players should be able to walk over them and collect as they move. Similarly to the way health is gained in D3 now.

I honestly thought this was a joke thread. And then I saw response after response with people not knowing the answer. This had been verified already and demonstrated in the Gameplay multiple times.

    GOLD IS AUTO-PICKUP

    Quote from "Ivaron" »

So I disagree with you on all 3 points.

Thanks for the feedback. I am sure you are not alone in your disgust of Sacred.

One more thing I found out about Sacred 2. If you get the special edition of the game you get a little imp guy that you can call with the Z button and he basically lugs around your entire stash chest. So when he comes up you can dump stuff in your stash from anywhere in the game.

Some people would hate that as well but I wouldn't mind it seeing as sacred does not have town portals and the map is huge (Waypoints are scattered pretty far).
My only beef is they make you buy the special edition to get that, as well as the high def texture pack.

I guess I am more of a casual player when it comes to Diablo(only played online a couple times and never bothered trying to beat hell)

posted a message on Sacred 2 ideas for D3
So I have been fooling around with the Sacred 2 demo that was just released(german only right now) and I am very impressed with it.
    You can get it here
    http://www.gamestar.de/downloads/demo/rollenspiel/actionrollenspiel/1949446/sacred_2_fallen_angel.html

Edit: They just released the US demo. So you can find it on Gamershell , filefront, etc.

It definitely has a few things that could be implemented in D3.

    1. The automatic gold pick up is an awesome idea in D3 but sacred 2 has a neat function as well. By pressing a single button you can pick up everything around you immediately. When the button is pressed a circle flashes briefly around you highlighting the range of the pick up and everything around you is deposited into your inventory. This has been a huge time saver so far.

It can also be customized to ignore normal/broken items and just pick up magic, unique, or gold.

    2. Combat is pretty nice too. Now in diablo 2 you could click and hold down the mouse to keep attacking a single enemy but when they enemy died you had to click on the next enemy to attack again. In S2 you can just hold down the mouse and it will automatically attack the next enemy under your mouse cursor. Very nice and a lot less clicking.

    3. This one is a little more far fetched. When you are not at a merchant in S2 you can still sell Items by Ctrl+left clicking an item in your inventory but you will only get half the gold you would get if you sold it at a merchant. I doubt this would make sense with D3 but I found it interesting none the less.

    What do you think?

posted a message on Top 10 Monsters You'd Hate To See in Diablo III
I just ran through durance of hate with my assassin in Nightmare and it reminded me how messed up and stupid bone fetishes(or stygian dolls I can't remember the name) are. I literally just ran past them to avoid the sudden death affect of actually fighting them. That to me was a horrible design decision. But thankfullly they already said they won't be insta-killing players to increase difficulty so I think we will be in the clear.

You obviously didn't understand a thing I said.
What is false? Can you click on a skill with your mouse while aiming or can't you??? Who cares if it brings a pool of skills you can assign to the hotkey. If you are mousing over the hotbar to select a skill, you can't also be mousing over a monster at the same time, given that skill casting from the hotbar is instantaneous.
No it's not! It's in relation to what I previously said. You can aim and use your keyboard at the same time, but if you select skills from your hotbar with your mouse, you cannot aim at the same time. There, I repeated it 3 times, hope it got through to your brain.

Wow, I give up. Just because you say something wrong over and over doesn't make it true. I keep providing logical proof to debunk your idea and you keep coming up with "well it would work anyways" excuses. I am definitely going to come back to this thread and make fun of you when this made crystal clear by the devs.

    Quote from "Dimebog" »
Either way, in D2 all hotkeyed spells were mostly two 'keypresses' away unless you constantly spam a single spell which only worked with some classes and sometimes.

That is not exactly true. In D2 it takes 1 press of a hotkey to select the new skill and then you can use it as much as you want with 1 click until you need another one. So if you wanted to use fireball 5 times it would be six button presses. If your idea of the new system were in place and you did not have it linked to the mouse button it would take 10 button presses.

    Quote from "Dimebog" »
If the spell cast was instantaneous with hitting the hotbar, that would mean that you cannot select spells from the hotbar with your mouse, because you can't aim and select at the same time?

This is completely false as shown in the gameplay video. During the witchdoctor segment when they add the zombie wall to the hotbar they do so by clicking on a skill slot in the hotbar. That brings up the pool of skills so he can switch to a different one.

They said they want the game to be playable with just the mouse.

That quote is being totally taken out of context.
What he meant was that because of the way they have set up the extra mouse skill (use the mouse wheel to switch to the back up skill) it can be played with just the mouse. However if you did you wouldn't be using the hotbar skills. He even said this in an interview way back. The gist was that the game could be played with just the mouse for a while so new people can get the hang of it but then they would need to start using the hotbar to be able to use all their skills more effectively.

edit: I doubt that custom designed gear means class-specific, that would mean you could only trade with other Barbarians or Witch Doctors for your armor, which is kinda ridiculous.

You are correct, they specifically have said there is not currently class specific equipment.
What I meant for example the Gothic Plate mail can be equipped by everyone but looks completely different on each class.

posted a message on Iventory change (bad or no?)
I hated the D2 inventory. I still play it everyday now. Last night I left town went through one floor in a dungeon and already filled up my inventory. I prefer it to be more focused on action and not inventory management.

Of course there are people who like the inventory management the way it is.

I am especially glad to hear they want to get rid of the need to have mule characters and are making a way to easily share items between your own characters. (they haven't decided on exactly how they will do it)
But it sounds like the stash will be much larger too and hopefully shared.

Also as far as seeing the items in a bigger view on the inventory screen. I think they are shying away from that because armor will look completely different based on your class. So they put the character in 3d on the inventory screen so you can see what the armor looks like on your character.

posted a message on Mana Potions
Well if the Gameplay vid is any indication the mana/fury regeneration was extremely fast. So much so that you could literally use skills non stop. The barb maybe used his regular attack a dozen times in the whole vid.
That was probably just to showcase the skills but if they leave it that way then there is no need for mana/fury potions or globes.
