Don't pay any heed to the book of revelations, as its commonly understood among historians to have been a cryptic set of messages from John to his fellows regarding the oppressive Roman emperor Nero. Look it up if you're interested, its quite fascinating really.

I think it might be forshadowing that the journal mentions a "hunter" from Xiansai. Perhaps this is a subtle or even unwilling bit of a clue as to one of the new classes, as a "hunter" fills the archtype left behind by rogue+amazon, and Xiansai is a seemingly newly introduced area to the map with a suspiciously asian sounding name to it, lending to it the stench of a culture that could possibly be harvested for a new class.

I'm not exactly telling everybody to stop the presses, so if im wrong, no big deal, but of course I'll land a fat "told ya so" all over the place if I turn out to be right. hehe

No, but he -is- very Warcraft-Jungle Troll-Like. I'd be both happy and sad if he doesn't have a jamaican accent; Sad because I lost 10 bucks, but incredibly happy because.. well.. he doesn't have an jamaican accent! :D

I honestly doubt the WD will have a jamaican accent. The troll's accent in Warcraft is much more of a comically absurd type of thing, which is not a style to be found anywhere in Diablo. It's not like the Barbarian had a wacky german accent, or that the sorceress had a persian accent. Now granted that there seems to be more of a focus on cultural involvement in D3, we still are missing the crazy german accent in our good 'ole barb, and if there IS any accent to the WD, then it will be a much less absurd/comical/wacky thing than that of the Troll, and probably nowhere near Jamaican.

If you remember the WD's casting animation for his undead mongrel things, you could hear him chanting in a language akin to some African languages, but NOT Jamaican.

Ya and with real epic music to instead of the same old boring drums and sound efects!

Can u imagin a big tomy talarico guitar solo on top of masive orcestra coming in just as a bos monster gets week? :O;):thumbsup:

Sounds like one of those things where I'd get the boss down to that low percentage and just run around for awhile kiting the boss just to listen to the music hehe

    Sounds like preaching to me.

... I'm not quite sure where you got the word "preaching" seeing as how I backed up my position with support...

but in case you're making a good point regarding the subjectivity of calling it "beautiful", you're right, that's my opinion.
However, my point more explicitly spelled out is that the style of singing has a unique cultural value all its own, and as such is more than just "wailing" whether you recognize it or enjoy that style for yourself. Said cultural style is also very emotionally powerful which is yet another way it is quite apt for the Diablo universe.

I agree, something as simple as being able to toggle how health bars appear or even just whether they appear would be a huge step forward from being forced to deal with the health bars now being right in your face as opposed to towards the top or to the side or some such.

its just so simple: toggling between classic and individual health bars. The tiniest effort and suddenly the game is that much less annoying to those people who liked the previous method better.

posted a message on Ideal Classes For Diablo III
Personally, I really agree with idea of all new classes with fresh abilities and cultural feel. I can accept the Barbarian returning because, frankly, he's the class that most needed revitalizing and feels almost completely different as far as I can tell thus far. But if any other classes 'return' then we're just going through a new game with the same old characters we already know how to handle, and its not a challenge or a new experience all across the board.

This being said, they're still working with archetypes, so while you fanboys/girls might not get your precious class back technically, the ones that show their faces will probably be revamped spiritual successors, like the witchdoctor vaguely is to the necromancer.

Thus far, we have the Brute Force Physical character (Barb), and the Control/Finesse Magicker (WD). So that leaves us with the possible archetypes conversely of a Control/Finesse Physical character such as a flavored ranger/rogue type (Ex: asian cannoneer), a Brute Force Magic user (Ex: Arcane Vizjerei), and some form of hybrid class somewhat like the Druid/Assasin/Paladin all were, but given that both the assasin and the druid somewhat crossed boundaries with the other classes (roguishness and elementalism) the 'spiritual successor' will probably end up along the lines of the paladin's support and melee disciplines (if not recurrent in the same function)

Come on people, it's not just wailing, its a beautiful and haunting style of singing perfect for the feel of the Diablo universe, especially considering a large portion the game is spent in eastern desert areas, and that culturally most of the characters have eastern backgrounds.

If you can't appreciate something just because its alien to you, at least have the decency to let the rest of us pretend we're not surrounded by idiots.

posted a message on Male or Female character?
I'm going to be playing through the game as both male and female of EACH class, just for even the minute chance that the dialogue is somewhat different between the genders.

That, and I HAVE to play a female Barbarian, because honest to god the model looks almost unnervingly like a beefy version of my girlfriend, and the idea of roaming around sanctuary slicing up zombies as a testosterone pumped version of my girlfriend tickles me in ALL the right places.
Oh, and of course it doesn't hurt that the very idea will drive her nuts.

    Name I'm tossing around thus far: Nicole + Goliath/Lilith/monolith = Nicolith ... or Red-HeadedStompChild

any suggestions would be deviously appreciated, hehe
