Aug 12, 2008DiabloFanUser34953 posted a message on Diablo MMO Hinted?Meh, I wouldn't be surprised, D3 looks like a blend between WoW and D2, maybe they decided to make D3 the way it is to start blending it towards an MMO setting where they feel they need simple gameplay and cheerful graphics to draw in customers. I can bet if there is an MMO the graphics will take another dive.Posted in: News

Aug 7, 2008DiabloFanUser34953 posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director ResignsPosted in: NewsQuote from "Sandman53" »For me being an art director for a big named company and then starting my own company when many new game companies go under within a few years, and tend to not make much money in the beginning...
This guy is a financial idiot. But than again he probably wanted something new.
I didn't think it said anything about a new game company, thought he was just going off to start some other business? -
Aug 7, 2008DiabloFanUser34953 posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director ResignsWhile I agree it would be pretty awesome if his so far disappointing work had caused him to somehow leave I agree with Flaming, its by no means confirmed and I think there is very little chance he is actually being replaced. I will believe it when I see something a lot more concrete.Posted in: News

Aug 7, 2008DiabloFanUser34953 posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director ResignsYeah I somehow doubt this is anything to get excited about, even if it would be nice to see Diablo change a little into something I can recognize as being, well, Diablo.Posted in: News

You do get that I was joking "retard"? I was pointing out how stupid you look proclaiming that people who want it to look similar in style to D1 and 2 want a pitch black game because clearly the previous titles weren't pitch black. Do you understand now? or perhaps a little to complicated for you?

Fair point, I guess I am just worried with what they have shown so far. A lot of the reasoning they are using is the sort of thing that falls into the whole mustn't make it too hard for vegetables thing under the guise of "streamlining". I really can't judge till we play, but nevertheless it does worry me. However you are right, Blizzard should be able to pull of great gameplay even if it is a bit more simplified in some areas.

I see that written some many times, no they don't. They know what the masses of vegetables who lap up games like Halo and Oblivion wan't, and its a big market.

Wow, and still going with the personal insults. While I was hoping my pointless personal insult toward you would make you realize how stupid it is insulting people over the internet I guess I won't continue with it seeing as it seems to upset some bystanders. As for the rather minimal content of your post, opinions about art cant be wrong. You can be 18 and say that you still love watching teletubbies, I can say its odd that you like it, but I can't say you are "wrong" for liking it. I can't say your wrong for liking the D3 art, but I can pick fault with you saying I am wrong for not liking it, because I can't be.

You don't know what I am, for one. Secondly there is a good chance I won't be buying it looking at what has been shown so far. Thirdly, I am older than you by a few years, am not at school and it is midday here. The problem here is people like you and the original guy bitching in that vid thinking people are "wrong" to be unhappy about a pointless change to a great series that will potentially make it a much poorer game to them. You can disagree with me, but I can't be "wrong" for thinking the change sucks. Now get fit and slim for college mister and I wish you luck with the girls, your gonna need it.

Everyone has just about covered all the "examples", how on earth can I point to things without you saying "but your just repeating what people have put in your tiny skull"? I can point to the flamboyant lighting arrangements in the dungeon, the silly looking skull straight out of a b-grade pirate movie, the mash of bright colors but no doubt you will just retort with "your repeating what others have put in your tiny skull". On another note, whats the point in starting personal attacks, I can do it too if you like? You have a giant banner sized sig with your face all over it, I have plenty to work with.

Ah, so you would be one of those people who never played D2 or D1 I assume, believe it or not the game had varied landscapes, wasn't pitch black and many thought it wasn't as ugly as sin, great games too, you should try them out.

Uh, no. did you read the part where I said "and was hoping the style would match"? How is that for "crushed with logic"... But let me guess, next you will be saying the style is the same, and yet everywhere and even the developers say its not. Ironic your calling me the child.

Irrational? what are you on about? Its a pretty fair assumption that if he loved the style of the older games and hoped for years the sequel would match the style of the previous titles he wouldn't be talking like he is. For some it wasn't just the gameplay, it was the grim dark world the game portrayed through its graphics as well. Not that I expect you to understand, ugh.

Nothing is wrong with the graphics themselves, the artwork is fantastic as usual from Blizzard. If this was another IP and was a different hack and slash set in some typical fantasy universe I would be extremely excited about how cool it looks. Unfortunately it's not, it's Diablo, or was Diablo and it looks nothing like the theme of the previous games, a theme which some of us loved, and obviously others not.
