Aug 23, 2009EnragedMaNg posted a message on New Diablo 3 Character Class: The Monk!Im pretty pumped about the monk too, i always loved the idea of a character or super hero - depending of the outlet of entertainment i am currently enjoying - who is fast and would disapear from the enemies sight leaving them wide eyed going "Where did he go O.o" Plus i just realised im practically a monk myself im always sitting cross legged when im sitting infront of my computer, which is alot lol..Posted in: News

Aug 2, 2008EnragedMaNg posted a message on Diablo 3 Multiplayer To Be EncouragedOk first im going to start with things that kind of annoyed me about the multiplayer and diablo2 itself and then i will list my solutions on those problems along with other ideas. Finally I will top it off with my impressions on diablo 3 thus far. *warning: this post might get a little OT so i give you permission to skip it*Posted in: News

-*mainly applies to online* first and foremost, repetition was the biggest downside to the diablo franchise. Now yes I do realize its a hack and slash game and therefore you will be doing a lot of it (hacking and slashing) however thats not exactly what im talking about. My pet peeve with the diablo games is when you beat it online you then start it over again on the next difficulty. In the beginning when the game still has its novelty and your new to the lore it may be fun however it gets boring FAST. Also you are restricted from being able to view games in a lower difficulty then you. I don't find the inability to join random games of lower difficulty hinder some to the game play but rather limiting. Say im in hell and id like to slay some cows and im not doing it for items or experience but mainly because i like the sounds of cows dieing beneath my blows and there are no games up in hell. I also cannot make cows because i unfortunately forgot to spare the cow kings feeble life and am now bared from opening a portal onto their soil. Without the ability to scan night mare and normal for any games im forced to do something else, wait or leave diablo and come back later.
- *multiplayer only* Second on my list WAS the loot system. The reason why i hated it was well, i could never get any loot :(. Fortunately im pretty sure i read somewhere that in diablo3 each player will get his own boss drop. Very good if done right, very bad if not.
(explained later)
- The last thing *because my list is already getting long :P* are cheaters of all kind. This includes but is not limited to; item spammers, item buyers, dupers, hackers, bug rushers, scammers and map hackers. They all kinda suck.
suggestions & ideas
- For the first dislike I suggest breaking the story up. (requires a longer story but i dont think anyone would complain about that ^_^) What I mean by this is that you take the whole story and split it into 3 parts the first part IS the game in normal then you beat normal and you move on to the second part of the game which is in nightmare and so on basically to get rid of repedativeness and at same time allows the difficulty of the game to scale with the progression of the story. Mind you it will most likely not happen like that but it would defiantly be awesome. Oh and then they would be forced to let you see normal and nm games :P.
- The reason why the second issue may become horrifically bad is when you are faced with the possibility of a full game of players in a clan farming bosses and collectively massing their drops and even worse just general economic catastrophe. On the other hand it can also be done very well. I believe this can be achieved by greatly lowering the amount of drops you get per person and making the more rare items even harder to find. The reason why items need to be alot more rare in this situation then in d2 (and many would argue they arn't rare enough in d2) is because bosses could be downed much faster with a group of 8 then singularily therefore more drop chances. Everything is pretty much obvious, problem and solution and i have faith that if each player does get a seperate drop from bosses that blizzard will accuretly take measures to assure it doesn't mess up the game.
- I don't really have any advice on how to solve the problem, my advice is however is to do what ever is needed to be done to solve this problem.
Impression of Diablo3
My first impression is that this game is looking to be a nice addition to the diablo franchise. I do however worry about the health globe system and other things but I have confidence in blizzards ability to make awsome games.

Towards the DnD characters, one of the most Iconic would be the Bard, who could use ranged weapons, though i kind of doubt we will witness his musical glory in diablo - however if you managed it blizzard I would give you props -
Besides bard there isn't much in the way of base classes left that fit the spot your looking for however so you may be right, time will tell.
I think the areas with map markers, I.E. watchtower looking things are probably the best guess for which we shall be exploring i doubt we will visit the isles though id like to know whats what down there

Yeah i know i just figured that Blizzard wouldn't go for another Desert based character seeing as they already have one but I guess its possible

Well thats exactly what this threads about. There are many theories going around already so I guess I will recap them quickly here first (not to mention name them mwhahah):
Last Man Out: This theory goes as follows, there currently exists a straight up Melee character aka mega man himself, The Barbarian. - Good covered
Next there should be a purely magic class, just like every single other game, and we got the Wizard. - Check
Every single Diablo fan cries out to the heavens for their beloved necromancer and voila, you don't get him but... you get this crazy dude with equally nutty spells instead (Common... Zombie wall? Zombies throwing up spiders? You know you love it.) The Witch Doctor. This character has summons, though not its focus as previously stated, curses and a bunch of mumbo jumbo to fill in the roll as a mysterious character. - Great
Every Diablo game had its flare of Holy, but after the shame of the WoW Paladin they were unfortunently whiped out of existance... But dont worry kids we got a killer substitute with, The Monk. This man with his big bushy beard reaches a top speed of 250km an hour, sure to leave a heavy dent on colission but be carefull, seatbelt not included. Holy character out to rid the world of evil as is his duty, can mix up a nice holy spell but without the frailness of a priest, sure to put his fist down for what he believes in. - Nice
What else could there possibly be next? Obviously the last character has to involve some sort of ranged specific class.
**sorry for being long winded X-X**
2nd theory
Gotsta Be a Rogue: Generally this theory revolves around the idea that the last class has to be a rogue because making a ranged class is too predictable and therefore is out of the question. You know because a Barbarian, Wizard, and a Monk are really unique. This theory has another flaw being that the rogue has been previously featured in the first diablo though one could point out that skills were not exactly class specific in that game so there wasn't much rogue-y-ness involved and it could be recycled. *Note: the monk from hellfire doesn't count because the expansion was not made by Blizzard it was made by Sierra and as such is not recognized as an official expansion, by me or Blizzard.*
And more theories but im writing way more then i thought i would.
Anyhoo to start this discussion off, I would like to re-iterate a concept previously discussed in some threads which involves the race of the current characters. More specifically though I would like to focus on the Cultures. As per this momment there are no characters who share a cultural backround remotely close with one another and neither was this the case in the previous installment aswell. This leads me personally to believe that the final character will aswell come from a unique background, comparatively to the other characters.
So, to FINALLY start off this discussion a few primer questions;
1. Thoughts of what said so far
2. Any knowledge of the lore in the areas suggested which would point to any certain type of people, culture or faction that comes to mind
3. Any other theories or ideas which you would like to suggest
4. Your personal selection for the last class and reasons why
.... And now i shall hold my peace for a while, lol
*EDIT* Oh forgot to mention that i personally see potential in the Skovos Isles though if the character hailed from the dark and mysterious Dreadlands I wouldn't argue either. Also removed the map because as pointed out there were some assumptions made in its creation lol. Though i still believe the cultural theory will still stand, hopefully >.>

"haha im going to win!" kill barbarian then he comes back and is able to finish other dude off "hah death proof motha fucka!!" i can just see it now, 50cent barbarians all over the place.... On a serious note yeah a multi strike rune in it so when you come back theres 3 of you so u dont get completely spawn camped XD

ima be different and say barbarian gets nerfed first because death proof might be over powered to the point you cant never truly die

So lets say an enemy gets a lucky crit on you and actually takes you out but you have death proof so you dont die and you just leach all your hp back or w\e and then he kills you again later but after the 300 seconds (which since theres 15 skill points for it i assume will lessen) and bam ur not dead still and come back with 30% which im assuming comes back with the speed of a rejuv potion *instant* seems like it might be overpowered?

Funny you mention that because blizzard has stated that sometimes the town your inside might come under siege by enemies and you would be able to command some guards and stuff  sounds pro.

The remaining classes can only be created in 1 of 2 ways.
They can make a class to fill the positions of amazon and sorcerer leaving the third to be w\e they choose.
OR
They can choose to make 3 completely different classes that fit none of the current archetypes, which is way more risky but also a much more exciting verdict if they can pull it off.
either way cant wait to see what they do
