If you're talking about graphics - don't worry, it's just in-game machinima. Won't be like this in the released game.
If you're talking about storylines, overall setting, etc - I agree. They suck. Including the announcement cinematic... didn't seem as interesting as D2's cinematics. Maybe it's just because they threw some different stuff together instead of showing the actual intro cinematic, but.. I dunno, it just didn't captivate me.

Yea, everyone likes to say that the trailer isn't captivating now, but I'm pretty sure we were all watching intently as we saw it the first time.

On the other hand, I do agree with you to an extent. D2 had cinematics and Cutscenes that were just the story. They weren't explanations or an attempt to help you understand what was going on. They were just a story. Simple, and it went at its own pace instead of trying to go at the viewer's pace.

Blizzard is unfortunately seeming to be taking the road of lowering the standards a bit for the sake of a more broad audience. The beauty of the videos and the games is unquestionable. However they feel more childlike as they progress. For those who played WotLK, remember the cutscene where Bolvar confronts the Lich King? The Horde arrive just in time and there is some pretty heinous dialogue that the two faction heroes exchange. That to me is almost to the point of selling out.

Blizzard had a sense of seriousness with their games, and that in my opinion is what made their games so goddamn fun to play and get lost in. I think they're losing that sense of seriousness, perhaps its in the fact that they've blown up as a company. I hope they can get a hold of that reality they had before all their success, because its the reason why so many people would slap their mother to get their hands on a new Blizzard game.

How can skeletons with no blood or heart be effected by exploding heart?
and then explode in a pool of blood?

IMO skeletons, golems, things that dont have blood SHOULD not be affected by certain types of spells. Also skeletons should be immune to such effects including bleeding and poison. Because skeletons dont have any blood to bleed out and they also dont have any muscles or organs to poison!!!

People will cry "oh thats not fair" but I mean that is just the way it has to be. The same way maces do 50% more damage to undead, certain spells needed to be restricted not for realism but for common sense.

Very good points. I'd be very interested in what Blizzard would have to say about this.

I'm not voting because PM = voter fraud :P

people should just post their votes and not pm to a single person

so if Mephisto's Lament wins any of the awards, i am calling it voter fraud and declaring this award null and void :P

    Pwnt.

posted a message on Holy warrior
I've been browsing around, and it seems to me the paladin argument has been made to death. I get it, paladins are an overused concept. However, I do believe that being a game based on Heaven vs. Hell, and there being agents for both sides, I can't help but feel there should be some sort of warrior of the Light.

The Zakarum and kingdoms of Westmarch surely have a righteous warrior to offer? I'll go ahead and say it. I LOVE paladins. There is something in me that comes alive when I see heavy armor and holy scriptures. I care not the alignment to a specific religion or order, I just love the concept of a warrior much like any other save for the fact that he casts spells and wields holy magic.

All that being said, who's pissed there isn't a Paladin-esque class in Diablo 3? Or who's glad there isn't? State your opinions on it, and why or how you came to that conclusion. I'll try not to destroy anti-paladin remarks.:thumbsup:

Heavy armor on a class like the Monk is pretty out of the question. The class is lightweight, fast, and utilizes his hands as weapons. Why would he choose to put alot of reliance on heavy armor? It'd only slow him down and move away from what he believes.

    Demons don't have souls.

The Prime Evils seem to. What would there be "soulstones" for? To capture their souls and send them to hell permanently never to return to Sanctuary. With the Worldstone destroyed, that plan went right out the window.

Looking at the trailers of all the new D3 characters and stuff, I can't help but think "wow..this is childish and boring". D2's cinematics were amazing..Marius himself beats any D3 cinematic. The voice, the content, the quality, and the general vibe of D2's cinematic is just amazing.

D3's shown trailers aren't cinematics, I know..but they are basically what cinematics will look like, I suppose. If that is indeed true, then I would be deeply..DEEEEEEPLY disappointed.

Lets look at the facts. The D3 trailer was in full CG glory. In my opinion it beat anything before it, save maybe the Lich King trailer which I'm also very fond of.

However all the cinematics after that have been to introduce the classes into the game. How could they make a cinematic for each one? And why would they get our hopes and aspirations up with a cinematic version of the class, when all we will ever get to see is the ingame version?

And lets not forget that the heroes of Diablo remain anonymous. In Diablo 2 there were never any hints or indications of which heroes brought down the Prime Evils, nor did any of them get any camera time. The most you saw out of any of them is the hand on the hammer as the Soulstones were destroyed.

Though I'm not a big fan of ingame cinematics, we still have to consider the other things about it too. I would love some nice video on how glorious a barbarian can be, but I don't think that fits in very well with the rest of the series. Perhaps the cutscenes will show something of the classes, and definately show more of Sanctuary.

I'm a lover of CG and epic cinematics, however I'd have to go with the unfortunately truth that it just is too costly, and too small a thing to worry about when they are no doubt working on the actual game, its sequels, and not to mention all the other things they have in production.

I don't know if CG for Blizzard is shared by all the franchises, or if each department has their own dedicated artists, but if they're working on SC2, WoW, D3, and some unannounced MMO, then we're just going to have to do with what we got. And that would be an epic Diablo roaring. ^_^

You know i always wondered how the hell marius got into mephistos place without dying. I mean if the jungle was full of demons and all the cities too you would think they would have killed him. But who knows maybe Diablo or Meph ordered them to not attack him because they had planned on him being in the asylum much later on.

The way I see it, Sanctuary wasn't as infected with demons and monsters as the game was. I mean, would anyone be able to get anything done with that many demons and other such creatures running around? The way I see it, they only populated the game so much so that we could have some fun killing them, and maybe even make it a little annoying for us to get from point A to point B.

I mean, he got into the Durance of Hate without having to find Khalim's pieces right? Maybe Marius was assisted by Tyrael or maybe he's just lucky. Or was lucky rather.

Due to the fact that I'll be nominated for each and every one of those, I respectfully would like my name not to be included. Not to mention I find these a little pointless. All they do is get people to fake who they really are just to be liked more.

At first I thought this was going to be a fan fiction of the Slayers guild in SICK :P

I was about to destroy him for copyright infringement lol.

Not a bad story, you can work on the punctuation. There are some parts where you should add to the story and description, and others where you should probably back off a bit. Not bad overall though.

Lol, dude, you're like those bums who sit at the side of the curb crying about the lost days of old..when they were Vietnam vets or some shit.

Stop taking stuff way too seriously, it's not like I'm a really serious guy..not even in real life.

The board will become something like that when D3 is out..of course with way more newbz.

I was kidding about the first part, and I think I see something coming. ;)

Has anyone ever thought that it never really was Tyrael? What i mean is what if it was Diablo all along. If you read the Sin War trilogy it says Diablo can take on whatever form pleases him, whatever suits him at the time. I think he deceived you playing as Tyrael all along. Maybe the three brothers conspired for this for a long time. As to killing Diablo in the campaign again, we have no idea what he looks like. The supposed "Diablo" could be just a powerful demon. We also cannot be sure if destroying the Soulstones really killed the brothers, considering their power it would not be folly to assume they manipulated them to work for their plans. Also since the Worldstone was built by the angles to weaken humans over time so none of them could be as powerful as the nephalem (Bul Kathos, Rathma etc.) what do you think is going to happen now that the Worldstone is gone? I am sorry if this has been brought up before.

Good theory, but the Prime Evils were playing balls out. They threw away all they're little games and made bold moves to place themselves in power again. The only thing they scewed up on is leaving Mephisto behind to handle us while the other two escaped further. The one thing I don't get though, is why Baal wasn't there to confront us alongside Diablo in Act 4. They are stronger together, yet he kept fleeing. Wait.

He was searching for the stone! Marius had gone into hiding, so its logical that Baal went in search of him. Marius had only heard of Diablo's demise. And as for Diablo, well, would he have left his soulstone just anywhere? No, the Prime Evils were playing as hard as possible, and they underestimated humans yet again.

However, now they'll be coming back. And I'm going to lose my mind when I see them again.

This board's "Epicness Quota" was reached when I joined. Sorry.

    Welcome, though!

I am sorry to break it to you, but "epic" has not been seen on this forum since SICK's (and by that I mean SLAYERS) greatness. Active threads, several sub-guilds, and ultimate pwnage in D2. People played together, texted each other, visited the forum, and talked together whether or not it was on the forum or the game. Such days....I miss.
