posted a message on Diablo 3 Classes and Armor
I don't know why people are getting so crazed about class specific items. I find them to be useful, awesome looking, and I am very happy no one else but my class can wear it. It makes your character a little bit more unique than everyone else. Plus I am sure Blizz will make these types of items drop a little less often since they should be in the upper portion of the most powerful items for your class(atleast the high level items). I would like to see lower level sets/uniques drop more often from bosses because we have a shorter period of time using them.

But yeah class specific items are good because they add more variety, and I do not think blizz will make every item in the game class specific, because that is not the Diablo way and it does not make sense to change it.

I like this idea and I think it would be cool to have since each place you visit would most likely be engulfed by the demon shadow, some humans could naturally side with the demons and gain some special powers.

On a side note, were the Travincal Council Members humans that were turned, or mages of some sort? My mind is fuzzy since it has been years since I have played D2.

http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/_images/artwork/ss15-hires.jpg (umm..... where is the medieval esk feel... no where in diablo was anything like this found)

Blood_Fox's post really says alot of what I think as well, especially dealing with this pic. I agree I love the medieval look more, but as for this type of scenery not being in diablo you are completely wrong. Act 2 in D2, this is exactly what I would picture the palace to look like. Oh and just because you did not see something in Diablo/D2 does not mean it can never ever be there at some other point. As long as the story backs up the scenery and blizz doesnt give up pink elephants, its all good to me.

why cant they just give us everything customizable?

In D2 a large % of the player base just ended up with the same stats anyway, so they made it easier for everyone to just do it for you, plus why would a barb put stat points into a stat that would get him more mana rather than getting more strength or life. It is just silly and makes alot of sense to just do it for us.

Each class will have stats assigned differently. A barb would most likely get more strength, a wizard more energy(forgot the name). Each stat will get raised by a set amount each time you level so rather than everyone getting 5 stat points each level and you manually put the points into whatever you want, now blizz will distribute the stat points along all the stats. Basically you have less customization with stats but more customization with spells and abilities now to make up for that loss of customization.

I think there is a thread discussing how awesome the diablo fight should be, but yeah it better be so epic that my mind explodes if I even pretend to comprehend the sheer awesomeness of the fight.

I would not be surprised to see that certain high level runes will be limited to having only 1 of each socketed on your entire character at a time to keep from stacking a certain good ability.

posted a message on MONEY SINK - Economy
You said people won't sell their items to merchants if they know they can get more money for it.
They probably won't get more money for it...you won't go room to room asking who wants a sword.

I still think you are wrong on this point. For one thing, I believe people will no longer have to go from room to room saying who wants to buy this item. There will most likely be some sort of trade system that allows people to show off what they want to trade for long periods of time without hindering their game play time. When you are able to do this, then you are able to sell items for more than what a vendor would give you because eventually there will be a demand for them.

Diablo is all about characters and items. You have a character that you want to level fast? Twink him/her out because you already have a high level character that can farm you enough gold fast to make a godly twink. At this point the amount you pay for the item is not as big a deal, you want to get the best items for that level as fast as you can to help you level up as fast as you can.

Low level items will sell for a great deal more than a vendor would give for them compared to a high level item. High level items will only be bought if people have an excess amount of cash or if they trade that item for another item. Plus they are alot more rare.

Not only that but you will see some amazing items for sale. Why? Because there are always people who will find really good items more than 1 time, and since they have it already they will trade it, or they will find a good item that their class can not use, they can either save it for an alt or trade it for a good item that they want for their high level character.

Yes the game needs money sinks, and the more the better things will be, but I also think a money sink that allows people to help their alts out it a good money sink.

I think I have rambled on long enough with this one so I will just stop right here.

posted a message on Mercs renamed?
    Quote from "Kenzai" »
Wait a minute. Are those followers actually "mercenaries"?

Mercenary aka "merc": Someone you pay for fighting for you.

Those guys we saw in the trailer just followed us to help us. They werent mercenaries (thus mercs =P).

I think its unknown if there will be real mercs. But if there will be, i think the word "merc" would be really better because they ARE mercenaries. You pay for the guy to help you in war.

I agree Merc just sounds so much better, but why not just call them 'Helpers"? From what you have said here the term Helper can be used in the exact same sense as Merc. Oh sure Merc sounds better when you say it, but the NPC does the same exact thing no matter what.

As for a follower, the follow you along just as a merc did. In a sense you pay the merc to kill for you, and with a follow they kill for you because they want to follow you, you dont need to pay them to kill for you.

They are just names, sure if I had the choice of what I would want to call the NPC then I would choose Merc because is just sounds so much better. We do not seem to have that choice but it does not bother me because the NPC does the same exact thing, and people will probably just call them mercs in game anyway.

posted a message on Your Thoughts On The Runes
This is one of the best ideas I have seen so far from blizz for D3, and I really hated the D2 rune system, what a horrible waste. And I agree with Kefka, this could lead to a ton of builds that will all be equally powerful.

posted a message on MONEY SINK - Economy
Nice twist on how to get rid of gold so the economy does not get out of hand, however, if people know they can get more gold than what a vendor will give them, they will not sell through the vendor unless they really do not care.

But lets say your idea does go through and people really like it and use it. There is going to be a massive amount of items on this auction house, Diablo is all about the items, and with so many items to look at I do not think a timer of less than an hour would be useful to anyone and unfair to most. A short time would force people to have to camp the AH and not play the game for any item they are really interested in buying.

A long timer would not help either because since the game is being played on battle net there needs to be enough space to store all of these items for a long period of time (though we do not know what kind of server upgrades there will be). In WoW an auction house works great because each individual server can handle the load. On battle net you tend not to have the player base split between a large number of servers.

Do not get me wrong I wish they could implement a WoW like auction house, but I just dont see how they can for D3. I see a WoW like mail system for sending items to people, the only thing I can't think of is how is Blizz going to let people put items up for trade for long periods of time as well as let people look at all the items others have for sale on the server. Some sort of WoW armory page where people can search for items that people have designated as for trade? I dont even like that idea, a trade system that is not in game would suck.

Who knows maybe blizz will surprise us with an in game auction close to WoW.

    Edit:
I could see them creating an instance server that is just used for trade. You walk through a door or portal in tower to the instance which would be a trade server. There is only a great hall with auction houses that you can put your items up for sale and then go back to the other server to play the game. And if your item sells then you money gets sent to you through the mail system. I don't know, it could happen :)

posted a message on Gamer tag as in Xbox 360 universe
If you play D3 without some sort of voice chat( I assume Blizz is going to have it built in for Bnet) then the experience is going to be less then great when you play with other people. For a fast pace game, having to type in a chat to people just to know what they want to do during a fight is going to slow things down dramatically. The fast pace is one of Blizz's key points for selling D3 so typing in a chat will be less important than voice chat for this game.

Okay, here me out - We make something for diablo 3 so that we can replay a little part of Diablo and warn everybody to get out of Tristram.... Or s-something along those lines, hmmm?

What exactly are you talking about? It seems to me like you left out the entire first half of your thought. Maybe there would be more discussion if people knew what was being asked?
