posted a message on Crit chance/crit dmg is broken and needs to be removed

It isn't broken.  Main stats are an infinite resource using Paragon.  CHD/CHC can only be raised by itemization.  So in the case of jewelry it is absolutely correct to roll off main stats for crit. As sockets are for the most part mandatory something has to be rolled off. So the wise thing to roll off is the stat that is most easily replaced and has the least benefit.

Just to give you an example. Let's look at amulets.  10%CHC/100%CHD will give you at least a 10% overall damage increase.  If you take even the Ancient number of 1000,it has at most a 10% damage increase.  The main main stat scenario is a naked character wearing only the amulet and Paragon all reset.

Your decisions to roll new stats onto items should be based on the potential benefit.  The presented logic of the OP suggests that things should be a certain way.  This is broken logic. Things are a certain way, just not the way the OP would prefer.

posted a message on Ancient weapons idea/suggestion

What I hate most is that an Arcane Barb is considered BIS. It has no usable affix.  You can't even roll +Arcane damage as a buff. The only reason it's BIS is because it has more damage than the 2 craftable bows. The bows at least have either critical chance or elite affixes. I'm not at all suggesting they buff the bows. The same issue would be in place with a different weapon. I'm just illustrating that when you are correct to blow off CHC or Elite damage for something else, there is definitely a problem.

posted a message on Loaded for bear vs Cluster Bombs

Why would you want to use Cluster Bombs? LfB is more of a single point AOE. Cluster Bombs go in a straight line hitting along the path. Multishot Arsenal with the Ballistics passive would be more effective for that and at a cheaper Hatred cost.

Loaded for Bear is most effective against grouped monsters because of the radius of the grenades.

The usual questions is either LfB or one of the Rocket variant.  The Rocket ones also are further buffed by Ballistics. You pick the rune based on your Elemental buffs.

posted a message on Please Blizzard, take seasons seriously.

I have to agree with comment about Ancient weapons. So if they aren't going to allow Seasonal Players the time to actually farm these weapons then what is the point in introducing them. There are weapons that take forever to farm. Blizzard knows this, they set the drop rates. To get an Ancient, it's now a 10% of the all ready almost impossible to find drop rates. They did increase the drop rates for the ultra-rare items. I've seen it. In just over a month, I've had 6 Kridershots drop. I only got 3 before the S2 started. But none of them were Ancient. I've got nothing against crafting items, but, it's way to easy to get a really good Arcane Barb Ancient. I'm not suggesting that I would come up with a build that would ever approach the Top 50. I don't play every day for 12 hours. It isn't going to happen. I'm probably 500 Paragon below those guys. But making the Top 1000 board with the right gear is something I would have liked to try for. I wasn't even going to attempt a run at it until I got Unity. As of today, I have the Follower Tokens, but only a single Unity. I've had 4 SoJ's but, only 1 Unity. Right now I can approach 40, but unless I get a GR with giant mobs of really slow moving Zombies, there's now way to finish under 15 minutes.

Under the S2 time constraints, I might as well forget about it. It doesn't even matter if Unity drops. This week will be a community XP buff. So, those that can do 40+ GRs, will be able to put hundreds of Paragon between me and them. I really hate the way Blizzard changes the 30 day notification to 2 weeks and claims that the 30 day notification isn't being announced. Then 2 weeks later they make the notification. That's a bait an switch tactic. The PTR isn't even over. At least finish the testing before you determine the new patch is ready. I don't care that they made the changes, but, the manner they are doing it is conniving.

posted a message on Rolling off strength from amulet for %phys?

You incremental damage for the 20% is not a 20%buff for elemental skills. It's additive, so that's why it's reduced to the 12.2% buff. You strength is additive with well, your other strength. You have a lot of strength through gearing, paragon and gems. These are both multipliers against your weapon damage, so you can directly compare their multiplicative effects. Mind you, you will add strength through XP. XP won't get you elemental buffs, so the 12.2% buff will further buff you paragon adds. You get 5 for every 4 paragon. So you now you will get an effective 6.1 point buff this way as well.

So yes, definitely better to roll off strength short term and long term. But you need the ring to be as good as your other ring. This was not any part of my calculations.

Well, maybe that or the Little Man's Finger... the at time of summoning thing would mean what only 20% of them would have the ring buff. But I'd like to see this with a Zuni/Carnevil build just to see the crits on the buffed with all the Poison Darts.

posted a message on Rolling off strength from amulet for %phys?

I don't think it a matter that it's incrementally weaker. The issue is that you have relatively low CHC and if you lose the 9% CHC from your neck, it's further diminished. Right now you have 34.5 CHC. So if you take the 9% hit you are at 25.5%. The 9% is over 25% of your Crit Multiplier. So you'll lose a lot of damage. The 20% is maxed, so if you were to use this so this is 12.2% increase (1-1.84/1.64) in damage. Your strength is 8253 so you would lose about 10.7% (1-(8853-883)/8853) if you rolled off Strength. So you would benefit most by rolling that off for a +1.5% trade. Then roll on 10% CHC. This would be a 0.01*current CHD + 19% (.365*.54) increase. So at least a 20.5% increase if you roll off Strength for max CHC. So don't roll off Elemental.

posted a message on DH crafting 100 Hellfire Amulets + Commentary

Keys drop at 50% on T6 and 100% for organs. Both are group drops no matter the torment. I still have organs enough for 2 more.

I have a very similar ammy to the OPs except mine is Awareness. Can't quite get mine to 100%CHD, stuck at 99%.

But, the numbers are about right in my experience. You can get runs where no keys drops, but you get as many where all 4 drop.

The odds are actually slightly better than noted because there is about a 5% chance to get a second key which can be any of the 4.

I think these are independent rolls. At least it would explain the weird scenarios where the Act 4 key drops all by itself in Act 3.

This did happen to me when I only need the Key of War.

posted a message on Why do people do full clears on regular Rifts?

Why doesn't someone make a quality of life request for the PTR? Rather than just Rifts they could add a full clear and RG stoppage.  They are don't differentiate the kinds of Rifts right now so this should have been addressed when they added GRs. Just explain how helpful this would be and I'm sure it will be considered.

posted a message on Solo 47+ 2.2.0 Patch 3 Hungering Arrow build (updated).

The latest patch removed the Discipline bonuses for the 2-piece and 4-piece. So you don't get the +20 Discipline Cap Buff, thus no +200% buff. The change to UE is that Generators are included in the buffs for as well as generating Discipline. The word is Generator, but, I don't think this matters. Depth Diggers buffs only primary skills which would be include with Hungering Arrow, but does not work with EA or Chakrams regardless if they generate.

The new 2.2 PTR build takes advantage of a 150% buff to all damage if Hatred is maxed with the ring set. So this beats out the DD by at least 50% and you're stacking the 70% increase with each penetration. This an exponential increase so a 5th penetration is over a 1400% buff, and at this point you have about a 3000% buff to this single cast of HA. This didn't amount to much when HA had a mere 155% weapon damage base. But with UE, this can boost to over a 1000% base weapon damage. So 1000* 3000 is 3M% base weapon per cast if it pierces 5 times. Throw add in the effects of Elemental and a Crit Event, Billions of HP are viable on a 5th or 6th pierce. There are no spenders in the PTR build so, Hatred is maxed all the time. SS can be used because Discipline is generated with each cast of HA. The Ring set is schedule for a Hotfix, so we'll see. DD might be a better option if you can get Unity and RoRG back in play. Mind you without a gimmicks of a Blizzard Cannon, there is a 0.5% chance of a 5th pentration. So 1 in 190 casts will get this crazy bonus regardless of weapon. So, a 1-hander like Nat's is probably optimal.

Edit: I screw up the math on the occurance rate. Fixed the numbers.

posted a message on BEST BUILD: Cold Cluster + hungering arrow with BURIZA (HELP)

I have to disagree with the statement that Enforcer doesn't help much. I agree that Enforcer helps less. So now most of the damage does come from the Demon Hunter, this true, but the split is closer to 60/40 as opposed to 90/10 in 2.1.1. You should have Sentry damage on your shoulders, because only traps and devices can be a rolled there. It's a much shorter list of options than a quiver, where almost all skills can roll. So I would state that this mandatory with M6. Enforcer will stack with this.

The fact is BoP loses effectiveness with higher Grift Tiers. After Tier 33 or so, you aren't going to take advantage of the Primary 20% buff all the time. If you get into a spot where more than 2 Elite packs attack you, there's no no way you're going to get enough DPS out to kill them under the BoP time limit. There could be 20 Billion Hit Points worth of monsters attacking you. The same can be said for GR Guardians, while not 10s of Billions, it is in the Billions. At that point Enforcer with over a 25% buff, it hands down beats the 10% elite buff with BoP. [The math: 25.5%*40% >10%, so leveling you Enforcer over the 25% is about where the break even point is against Elites.] You would need a Rank 200 gem or so for BoP to possibly regain it's advantage, maybe more because a Rank 200 Enforcer has an 85% buff at that point and the 60/40 split has now shifted back to the Sentries as the damage dealers.

posted a message on S2 DH progression journal

GL with this. It's a really cool idea. But, you know M6 only drops on Torment, right? The RoS sets are Torment only drops. Not saying Rhykker's advice is all bad. But, I've watch a bunch of his videos and they are usually out dated with Patch Metagame. And he's a bit of a noob in gameplay. A better source is Philosophios where he mainly focuses on pushing the Metagame with new builds with Theorycrafting. Rhykker is more like Wikapedia or the old Reader Digest. He mostly scours Reddit for builds and makes Youtube videos with the gathered information. So gather your shards, but make a new game and spend them in T6 then remake in lower difficulties. I'm not exactly certain how whether T6 matters with Kadala but 2.1.1 patched higher Leg drop rates with higher torments. They even changed the wording in the level description where bonuses are stated. Since you'll be bouncing in an out of Torment to do this, it only makes sense to go to the highest one. At T6, will a 500 shard cap, I usually get between 2-5 Leg drops, and it's very rare to get no Leg drops. Mind you, this is Kadala, so 2 pairs of Ancient Hammer Jammers is to be expected. :P

Oh and hunting for Goblins is best in normal Rifts doing full clears to see if you get goblin packs. This is probably a bug that Blizzard decided to leave in the game, because it was cooler to not fix the issue. I state this because in the 2.1.2 PTR these Packs were spawning in Greater Rifts and it was admitted it was a bug with having the newer goblins. Maybe the packs are intended, for Rifts and they just missed an if statement in there code. Who knows, but, these only occur in Rifts. Really funny stuff, the game has trains you to ignore every other monster and chase goblins. So, when you see 20 Goblins just hanging out, hunter mode kicks in. Then you realize, WTF there's not supposed to be loot in a GR.

posted a message on Stuck at GR18 (LOL) - What am I doing wrong?

I find it amazing you even went for Tier 25 without full Marauders. Well there's one way to learn. Trial by fire. Anyway, tough break on your fallen character. I'm glad you seem to be in good spirits about the death. At least you have the Paragon. I hope you ranked up your Gem of Ease. It'd be fun 1 shotting everything with a Crafted Legendary. Oh, not sure if you know this, but, Ancient weapons have a unique ability to roll with 30-40 level reduction. This is the actual range. Ancients with level requirement reduction can not roll with 28 level reduction it's out of range. So it might be worth your while to craft until an ancient with a socket spawns. I've always wanted to try out that bow with the crit damage or even the one with elite damage. Keep getting Kridershot Drop. I really like Elemental Arrow, so, maybe next season I'll give it a go. This season, I got my bow to drop before I even had enough Forgotten Souls to begin crafting for Ancient weapons. About your legendary quiver, don't use it. Reflect will kill you. The Lightning Builds I've watched VODs on always include Deaths to finish the rift. And these were before they patched out permanent Smoke Screen. If reflect spawns as an Elite affix you are standing in a room full of things that will kill you and there is nothing to do but wait for your death sentence. Anyway, seems like you having enough fun, so I'll leave it at just good luck.

P.S. You asked about passives. Ambush will probably be popular with the new Dead Man's Legacy in the new patch. So you get 40% damage buff with the passive until 75% health, the quiver allows a double hit with Multi-Shot around 50-60% health. Until the patch, you basically have half damaged monsters chasing you around the screen. Some people like Singled Out for Greater Rift Guardians. Almost everybody uses Cull the Weak in tandem with Zei's Stone. Grenadier used to be great with Cluster Arrows, but a 10% buff is low compared to Gem Damage and I'm pretty sure the 20% area increase is useless. Most have dropped Grenadier for trying to get both Elemental and CA bonuses on their gear. CA can roll on 3 slots, and Elemental on at least that many. It lost favor when cold became the way to proc Cull the Weak and Zei's. CA is normally Grenades with SS & Maelstrom being the exceptions. Custom Engineering is required with M6 or any other Sentry build. The other ones tend to be used only early when you are defenseless without decent gear.

posted a message on SoJ what to reroll

114*84.05 is 9623 for damage buff to base damage.

Strength buff is 4.24*3547 is 15039.28 base damage.

    Calculations are (Weapon range sum)/2 * (Strength/100).

These aren't sheet damage values this is raw impact. We would need to add in Crit and APS. These are constant, so, no point in using them.

So it looks like Strength is better, but realize as you add strength with paragon, the damage buff gets better.

I would take a while for that to kick in. So, roll off damage and keep Strength.

posted a message on Stuck at GR18 (LOL) - What am I doing wrong?

Wow, didn't notice that you were playing HC. You're awfully brave to play with tumble. It's effective, but, Smoke Screen gets you out of more trouble. I would definitely recommend the Healing Vapors Rune. SS has the ability to get you out of Jail. Where as Vault you are stuck in jail. Not much you can do about wallers without Kulle-Aid, but if they can't see you they tend not to throw down additional walls to stack up. I noticed you have a lot of Discipline, probably from Nat's, so that will help your survivability. I know Vault plays faster, but, you have to watch out for using it for speed over getting out of trouble. It's very effect to get the distance bonuses though. Not sure if you actually know that how these 2 skills work, but, you are for invulnerable while the skills are active. So Vaulting you are safe, but you have to be moving. This is why jailers can get you killed. You can't move. With SS, you're like Frodo Baggins putting on the Ring, the jailer doesn't even know you are still there, so you sentence in jail is suspended. If you are looking for Speed, Krem's belt is better solution than fast forwarding with Vault. You'll probably lose Black Thorn's buff, but the only viable set that you can match up with that set is the Shadow one which keeps you alive, but, gives very little damage buffs. So, you are going to have to give up Black Thorns at some point.

To be honest, I wing the Mid-Game. I play the drops. Ok, since you are HC, it make a little more sense why you went with Pain Enhancer. I've played around with most of the Gems. It just seems that Pain Enhancer doesn't build enough damage as you progress. But you're right, it's a gem that does better upfront, but increments slower than the other gems. Tox still seems better in the long run. As far as the Defensive Gems go, don't even bother with Moratorium, you will lose your character. I got mine up to the 25 Rank. I think that extends the duration to about 6 seconds. Then you get a great buff that fails 90% of the time. Great, you die 6 seconds later. The new seasonal gems are much better. As an Armored class, the Resist (All but physical) seems best, but I actually have no experience with it. Healing I've tried, but, you can get over confident wearing it. You heal so fast, but a 1-shot is a 1-shot. But ground effect you don't have to worry about much.

Regarding the Boar, I don't think much of the taunt. The wolf while technically doesn't draw any body and distract, he is more aggressive and tends to keep them further away with a bigger hit box. I guess what I'm saying is that since he's bigger, he blocks better and from futher away. If you get the Cloak of the Garwulf, you get three wolves and they can actually keep monsters from getting past doors. And the Wolf Howl is awesome. So I'd go with Wolf over Boar.

I still stand by the resist all comment over the additional life. There are limited sources for resistance and you run out at Paragon 200. And I don't think gemming to get more is worth it. You get armor and damage with Dex, so, why would you do that.

Getting back to the midgame. I think you're on the right track, just a little unfamiliar with the the Runes and Passives. Just try to familiarize yourself better with them and look them over when you get something new. There quivers that let you generate hatred with Chakrams. Your yellow quiver sucks, so, that may be useful. I wouldn't get rid of your bow, you need that to proc your damage buffs, but, Chakrams will deal more damage and it pierces so it will clear out mobs faster. Regarding, RoV. I think it's weak. The CD is too long. I was playing in the PTR and the upcoming changes address this. They kind of over did it. I had RoV up almost 100%. But, for season 2, it's weak. With you probably no going to risk swapping out a Diamond into your helm (I know, I have a HC Crusader that wears one) it doesn't make sense to rely on a CD spell. Oh, if you ever go with Chakrams, ignore what I said about SS, use Vault. You want to burst those things out and then run. Using Chakram is about positioning your DH so that everything is lined up for max damage. Vault is particularly useful for this. I will state that Archery is more than useful with a bow. Xbows get a Crit bonus, but Bows get damage on every cast whether Crit or Not.

I see you switched over to Ballistics, so you should know the other Rocket Skills are Mulitshot Arsenal and Spitfire Sentries. You should look into incorporating these if it fits for that 100% buff. The 2.1.1 build for M6 had rockets on everything. The Ballistics buff might be the best single buff in the game.

    Again Good Luck
