posted a message on A thought about D3 combat
    Quote from "MindLess" »
As we already know, Blizzard is attempting to make the combat tactical, that requires a certain degree of thinking.
Lately I've been thinking about how long the would-be challange would hold out. How long until entire fights become completely instinctive (Because it's really hard for me to believe that it wouldn't at some point).

When you've mastered the counter attacks for most of monster-type encounters, you're left with pure mindless H&S. It's hard to convey this through words, but I simply imagine a point where you're like on autopilot. You see a monster, you know the counter. And it becomes second nature, and so the tactical thinking fades into oblivion.

I'm just wondering, is this inevitable? Will this not happen to everyone eventually?
Tell me what you think about this - Because it really bums me out, mostly because it's a core gameplay issue.

Everything becomes like auto-pilot if you do it enough eventually. But would it happen as fast as it happened for me in diablo 2, most likely not even close. Diablo 3 is going to be an entirely new game with as they have said "lots of tactical play". Health orbs and monsters you actually have to use certain abilities against to beat is hugely a PVE gameplay improvement. But if its going to get mindless or boring well, every game does eventually if you play it enough.

be kinda hard considering there will be NO MOUNTS in diablo 3. As they have officially stated already for the final product. No mounts. Makes no sense for this kind of hack and slash either. But yea, that already said no mounts. So that small fact kind of... kills this thread lol.

um LOL. We don't even know the real reason why they did that in the first place. It could have been anything. Have you been to the official diablo 3 forums? Same thing goes on there as here, only its actually about 10x worse THERE than it is here. Get over it noob :P. It could have been anything. What a useless thread.

posted a message on Unique items should be a lot rarer
Unique items should be rare in my opinion too. But one thing I hope they do this time around is if they make sets they should make them WORTH collecting. I mean what is the point of collecting an entire set if the bonus's are really bad compared to 2-3 combined Unique items instead of a full entire gear set lol.

I hope they add unique sets this time around.

posted a message on Michael Gough (Deckard Cain) Audio Interview
Lol. I could not make out what to think with him describing WoW to diablo 3//diablo/2lod. He either did not play them that much at all, not at all, or was being VERY careful lol.

Seems like anyone you ask about the art direction treds on it like they are above a 20,000 foot hole walking on thin strands of rice paper. Better not fall ^_^.

Whats interesting is him throwing a diablo 4 out there. Or him saying he damaged his voice screaming in a "mutation" and big "battles" kind of voice. Now that bit of info right there was the key to the interview i think. Aside from his awesome and fantastic voice for deckard cain, which i thought was brilliant and very humorous.

    Trading:

I would like to see a Chat trade feature where you could link your item through the chat like you can in WoW. Possibly an auction house type of system, or a bartering+auction house combination of the two, So instead of just trading for gold, you could post your suggested item that you want to trade with a list of other items that you would trade for it as well. Like listing specific named items, or asking for "a really nice bow" And whoever saw that could post there bow up for trade for your item, and you could either deny/accept. I think that would bring hours and hours of awesome trading to the game without any hassles really. Maybe also you could do a combination of the two if gold will be more valuable this time around. Like 500g plus this item for your bow, ect.ect like runes+gems+gold or whatever. The possibilities would be endless with this type of system and I think it would just be really fantastic. I mean I get giddy just thinking about it.

    PvP:

Please no arena. I Don't like to say that it broke WoW but it kind of did, if there is some sort of battleground-type of pvp for diablo 3 that would be very very cool, but please, no arena. If there is PvP Make it in a open world, (aka no arena-type restrictions). Please leave out skills like "fear" or "mass confuse"..ect..ect for pvp battles, those skills are just way to over-powered especially in a diablo 3 universe with no cooldown restrictions and I cant even imagine diablo 3 WITH long cooldowns.

As for seperate grounds for pvp only I think it could work out if the right things were added to it. If there IS a seperate mode for pvp I think it would be much better if it offered more players than pve mode, like 16 instead of 8. I'm fine with a battleground type of area as long as you were rewarded for playing in it. Like special item vendors that you unlocked by doing things in pve and pvp combined or vise-versa or cool visual affects like armor changing shape/color, unlockables, socket item vendor unlocks, name-able item unlocks, anything like that to make pvp more in-depth and rewarding would be great i think. If battleground type of pvp was introduced I think it would be cool if it was 16 players with 8on8 instead of 8 ffa or 4v4. Possibly have optional different game modes like team deathmatch or capture the flag, ect..,ect. But if this was introduced to a regulare ladder ( like not having a pvp realm to select) I think it would be good if you made it so you had to do PvE things to make them unlockable as well, otherwise everyone would just probably do this stuff instead of pve'ing.

Also could there please be a list of people you killed this time instead of ears? Like a list you could just open with a click or hotkey to see who you have killed? Or maybe have a single ear in your inventory, then clicking on that to open the list of ears you have collected or something. I think that would be much better.

Also maybe having unlockable name titles this time around would be cool and being able to change those names you have unlocked with a list you click to open or something would be really nice as well.

I can't see the purpose of these topics: "what do we like" and "what we don't like". What difference does it make? As long as i know, Blizzard isn't searching for opinions.

Um what? Bashiok already confirmed they read fan sites and b.net forums and bring good ideas and/or topics to blizzard designers. You tard.

not gonna happen. Blizzard couldnt even get guild halls or player housing in wow (although guild wars managed to get guild halls, and ffxi managed to make player housing over 2 years before); not gonna happen in d2.

probly not, but that would still kick ass

You guys who complain about the art are seriously lame. If you want art go to a %&^#ing art museum for christ sake. You say it looks like warcraft games and isn't the separated diablo franchise anymore. YOU'RE WRONG because it's not the art that made diablo what it was. It was the gameplay and the fact that it's not MMO like WoW and GW and those type of games. It's unique GAMEplay is what makes it unique and that wont change very much thank you stop complaining about fancy arts and graphics. D2 is 2-D and I play it, I don't need better gfx

People keep saying that its the gameplay thats important. So if the game really looked like something from pokemon and pokemon was actually made by blizzard, you would not complain? Right. that makes a lot of sense. rofl.

The fact is it looks a lot like WoW. When it could look a lot better with it staying in its own territory and not copy/pasting from WoW. WoW is a great game, but its visuals are very corny after awhile.

And why should it be corny, when it can be great?

Oh, and i still play D2/lod as well. And it looks nothing like warcraft.

I dunno if you're talking about runs or not?

If I'm leveling through runs then no it's usually not a problem.

It's the times I want to level with people slowly, without the help of a higher level, that seems to be when all the PKs come out.

I think it has to do with you spend more time in a game/games when you're leveling run-free.

Also the lack of a higher level in the game encourages PKs to act out.

    <shrugs>

Nope i've just been leveling normal, did not get rushed once. Questing normally. Only times i've ever got "rushed" was when i was about 73-75 when I reached act 5 hell and then I just did baal runs to level after that. Never been pk'd. Never had a level 80+ help in any mode really.

I just started playing diablo 2/LoD again and I have had no problems at all with PK'ing. I got a barb to 87 and a sorc to 83 on ladder and I have not been pk'd ONCE in a "act 2 lets go!" or a "hell act 1" Game. Not one time in a normal game intented for PvE play. With no level restrictions.

Only retarded thing I have seen at all so far since i started playing again was this ONE time where one guy was dropping 1 golds in a baal run all over the throne room to lag it I guess but it did not even lag at all for me lol, and that was only 1 time.

For sure they could change some stuff to make it better, and they will, and I am 100% sure that they already have changed some game mechanics to make these things less irritating happen.

But pking and all that retarded stuff is not as hardcore as some of you make it out to be.

going into the water and stuff, that would be interesting. But you have to remember that the camera angle WILL NOT CHANGE and they have said that many times.

So if you go into the water basically you would only see the top of the water, not your character lol. I don't know how that would make sense but yea, that's what would happen.

If they could find a way to have swimming I'd be fine with that, but fighting while swimming or going under the water might be a very complicated game mechanic for that camera angle not changing.

SHIPS is a very badass idea, even if it is NPC controlled.

If you could have your own personal ship at a docking area that would be very tight, even maybe a house of some type also. As for people saying that would be too much like an MMO, why the hell would you not want to be able to own your own house or boat in diablo 3 if they had that implemented?

It's like saying, we dont want more f^cking content so get lost!

Huh what? You dont want more content that kicks ass so your complaining about it? Don't really get that one lol. I'll take as much badass stuff as I can get, Including ships, npc or player controlled, and houses too. Cuz its just awesome.

Well after reading that article I'm glad I never bought hellgate london lol. Looks like they just did not have enough money.

Bill roper seemed very well aware that the art style was very different for diablo 3 than in 1 or 2. He seemed to skip around if he actually liked it or not by saying "its different", but I guess that's just him being nice :P.

I am one of the people though that will never give up hopes for the art style changing though, even if its just a small change (i'd take anything over what they have now). I mean they purposely showed that specific trailer for what they were going to be making for D3 and it missed my expectations by about a mile. :(

Blizzard should consider hiring him for art director for diablo 3 lol.

Hell... hire anyone please, just take this version of diablo 3 and make it much more less like WoW and the warcraft chain in general. It needs to be more realistic and better graphics... I mean thats what diablo 2 was attempting to do and thats what seperated them from the other blizzard franchises.

Please make it better someone! I really really dont want to play WoW 1.5. I'll buy it and play it anyway... but that doesnt mean a piece of me wont be left behind with the real diablo franchise.
