This is Sanctuary. I don't find it too hard to believe that, through some astrological, spiritual, or otherwise unspecified change of events, the opportunity could present itself to create a demon of equal or greater strength to the prime evils. That's beauty of creating a universe from scratch.

As far as Leah taking over for Cain, I've thought that since I first saw the Cinematic teaser. "For I've see what the darkness holds..." There's something to that.

And.. LOL at Thizziest. "Stay a while and..."

posted a message on Male/Female: which will you choose?
I think people are getting too upset with Chavez. It's obviously a troll/joke post. I laughed at most of his replies.

Anyways, I prefer to play a gender based on aesthetic. In WoW, my main characters (I had 2 that I played a lot) were a Male Troll Hunter and a Female Gnome Rogue. And, for the record, I am gay. Though, I didn't actually play a game that made me choose a gender until after I came out. Even then I preferred to play a male because the armor looked much better than on females.

But wait... Maybe playing Mrs. Peacock in Clue is what turned me? I always thought that it was because I liked the color but now I'm not so sure. *Gasp*

I have several forum topics in my bookmarks section but anytime I try to access to home page (type www.diablofans.com or click a link to the home page), I get an error. I the forums work well as well as any other page that I can access from the forum bookmarks except the Home page.

    Anyone else have this problem?

posted a message on What Happened to Failing Luminaries?
I was taking a look around the d3 website and could not find the failing luminaries section. I know I've read it on the site before but now I can't find it. I thought it was on the first page on the d3 website which now says:

Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.

Did my mind play a trick on me and made me forget where it was put? Or did they change it? If they changed it, then why?

posted a message on Fresh Theory
I believe that this game will be more about discovery of Sanctuary's place in the universe. Now that Heaven and Hell are making Sanctuary inhospitable (if one goes with my theory), Sanctuary must fight them both to defend His land.

As far as them having a father, you could easily transfer that into infinity. What does a father have, a father before him. And so on and so on. I think that the Three were there since creation and only referred to as "Brothers" because they all ruled together and as a term of respect for one another. Sort of like the amish referring to each other as "Brother" and "sister" which is done in a variety of other cults, orders, businesses, clubs, etc.

posted a message on Fresh Theory
I'm not sure if this theory has been mentioned before. I've fished through the dii website, this website, as well as the official forums and haven't really seen this theory entirely pieced together (usually in fragments with other theories). I wouldn't consider this theory 100% anti corrupted Tyrael, but it's a different type of corruption from what I've read.

It's late, and this idea popped into my head. So forgive the lack of direct quotes and links. I'll most likely edit it with more later.

The whole/sum of this idea is that the game focuses on truth, revelations, and heaven vs. hell.

    1) The Logo.

The Logo has been "proof" of the Tyrael corruption story since the unveiling. Before I even read about that, the first thing I thought of was heaven and hell. I work in a small, independently owned store where anyone who works there is close with one another. This being said, the bosses/owners have told me that a logo for any company should sum up what it does in the simplest way possible. What we have with d3 is a simple logo. Red at the bottom, yellow at the top. Red, in this type of game, often would represent hellfire, blood, and death. While the yellowish color represents light.

We also know that heaven and hell have an eternal war with each other. We've never really experienced this in-game. Usually it's been a simple, "rid-sanctuary-of-demon-invaders." With the Worldstone gone, Sanctuary is easily visible and accessible to Heaven and Hell. Sanctuary is a third party in this war, created as a neutral world simply trying to exist. With this, Heaven and Hell need some help to turn the tides of the war. Suddenly, there's this world open. A new battlefield complete with pawns who are easily persuaded to follow a being of greater power. New warriors, new land. More on Sanctuary later.

    2) Hell - Worldstone crater

In the artwork and cinematic we see a demonic army coming from the Worldstone crater. We've never seen an army of Hell before. We've seen the Brothers and their minions. Sort of like a packaged deal: Get one Brother, get minions free!

We've also never really seen an army so orderly. In the cinematic of the Wander, it's just him, Marius, and the occasional undead/demon spawns that come, destroy, leave. The previous games also only show scattered demons, and rarely that. When one thinks about, the games mainly focus on the corruption of the locals (rogues, goatmen, pygmies, sextons, etc). The demons tend to stick close to their demon-master. Only once we get to Act 5 do demons seem to have a larger appearance. Baal wanted to ensure that there were no distractions as he tainted the Worlstone, making a "meat shield" for the heroes to hit, to slow them down so he has time to taint away.

    3) Heaven - Ureh

For those who don't know, Ureh was a "lost" city that supposedly opened a gate to Heaven, only have the inhabitants die and the city become abandoned. From the description given of Ureh, it's built on the side of a mountain. In the concept art and even in the cinematic we have a city built on the side of a mountain and looks to be abandoned. While the name of the city is not yet given, I've come to believe it is Ureh (or perhaps my better judgement is tainted by this theory). Ureh has also shown up on the map on the d3 website.

    4) Sanctuary

    A) We are God

As players and theorizers, we often forget that what we know from reading the books and such that the inhabitants of Sanctuary are kind of blind to the truth of the eternal warfare. In a sense, we are like Gods, watching Sanctuary with a knowledge that the inhabitants don't have.

    B) Being in Sanctuary

So here we are in Sanctuary, hey there's a temple of light, hey there's praises for Tyrael, and hey, there's someone saying, "May the Light be with you." Why light? WE know that Inarius created Sanctuary with other angels and demons. After creating the Worldstone, Inarius demanded worship. He was an angel, and angels = Light. Here we have the religion of Light.

    C) Otherworldly Views of Sanctuary

Sanctuary is not a well-liked place. Angels don't like it, Hells doesn't like it. Angels wanted to destroy it, Hell used it to banish the Brothers. Sanctuary, being cloaked, was pretty much worthless to Heaven and Hell. It'd be more useful if it wasn't cloaked. Can't use it, let's scrap it.

    d) Tyrael on Sanctuary

note: This is where I kind of touch on how I think Tyrael might be considered "corrupt" to the citizens of Sanctuary.

Tyrael is not really the "good" guy we make him out to be. He even said that he saw Sanctuary as an example to Hell that order triumphs over chaos. Using the inhabitants as pawns in their war. Many often forget that Tyrael is an angel of the Diablo universe, who aren't the kindest creatures. He helped aid the defeat of the Brothers, but if the Brothers got control of Sanctuary, Hell would have a one-up on Heaven. He was defending Heaven, not Sanctuary.

Yet, Sanctuary-ites still praise him. Hey, there's that little knowledge I was talking about earlier.

    5) It's an angel! It's Diablo returning! It's a hurling ball of fire heading straight for the cathedral where the Diablo thing happened the first time!

Diablo mythology does not always equal Judeo-Christian mythology. Doesn't mean that Blizzard won't pull ideas from Judeo-Christian mythology to create an effect on the players. What's scarier than Hell taking over Earth? One of the major things going on in the "end times" of Judeo-Christianity are stars falling from the heavens. Stars falling to Earth = End of the World.

Ok, so obviously this falling ball of fire is not a meteor. If it was, the whole of Tristram would be nothing but a giant crater. I also don't see any form of rock/ice inside this ball of fire. Hey, did you know that a rain of fire was in the Bible, several times? Indeed, when God wanted to destroy.

The website says that this "meteor" calls the heroes back. So, ball of fire = sign that the end of something is near.

    6) Leah

Leah is a nursemaid. We get that when Cain says, "If it's not one nursemaid, it's another." I believe she is also the narrator of the cinematic. Now I have 2 ideas on why she says, "For I have seen what the darkness hides."

    Prophet

She could, reasonably, have the gift of foresight. Sees Heaven vs. Hell vs. Sanctuary.

    Eavesdropping

I heard a theory a while back about an angel visiting Cain and telling him about the demonic invasion. This could fit into my theory seeing that Cain seems to be the only one worth a shit that Heaven and Hell see in Sanctuary. He's smart. When Tristram was invaded, they didn't kill Cain. He is a valuable resource for the war. So an angel warning him is not that farfetched. In the cinematic, we see the girl (who I will refer to as Leah from this point on) running into the cathedral to protect Cain from the fireball heading straight into the Cathedral. Lo and behold, this was a sign that heaven is coming to town. An angel comes to talk to Cain, Leah overhears, thus she has "seen what the Darkness hides."

    7) Summing it Up and Tying Loose Ends

So here is Sanctuary. The citizens worship light (minus a few). A corrupt angel or a "failing luminary from Heaven" would be an angel turning its back on Sanctuary. Not such an unbelievable story for the players since we know that Angels don't really care about the people of Sanctuary. That takes care of the failing luminaries.

Sanctuary is caught in the middle of this war. They come to find that Heaven is not such a nice thing to worship after all and decide to make a place for themselves in the Universe. Why not? They're powerful creatures (3 killed Diablo and 5 killed the 3 Brothers plus a whole slew of others [if you don't count the assassin and the druid, who I feel only joined in Harrogath]).

As a hero in this, you learn with each quest that Sanctuary is alone. Rather than choosing a side, Sanctuary must defend and work only for itself.

    8) Possibilities

This is where I anticipate other theories stemming from here (amidst the flames due to my insomnia created theory).

    A) It Was All Planned

Tyreal was in the room with Tal Rasha when the Wanderer and Marius came. He has that big sword. He couldn't like, you know, attack or something? He wasn't bound physically to this plane which means he can only stay for short periods of time. Didn't stop him from grabbing Marius or throwing a sword at the Worldstone. He could have attacked. He knew where Ball was heading and didn't stop him before he reached Harrogath? He needed Baal to find the Worldstone. He couldn't find it himself and waited for Ball to get to it. Once it was corrupted he could now appear to be the good guy, destroying the corrupt Worldstone, AND he opened the way for Heaven and Hell to use Sanctuary. He needed to look like a good guy to have the support of Sanctuary without question.

    9) Things that Make me Angry

This is where I rant about previous posts.

    A) Baal's Soulstone

Just because there wasn't a quest or a cinematic about Baal's soulstone being destroyed does not mean it didn't happen. I know that I'd be pissed if I had to go back to the Hellforge to destroy a Soulstone and getting little as a reward. It's almost impossible that something such as this would be overlooked.

    B) The meteor is a Fallen Angel!

First of all, why would a Fallen Angel be banished to Sanctuary? There's plenty of room next to Inarius in Hell for a rogue angel. Heaven does not need a fallen angel running around Sanctuary telling the citizens that Heaven is not on Sanctuary's side, not at this point when Sanctuary actually is a useful tool in the war. Meaning a tool, not a race of living creatures who need to be defended.

Second of all, Heaven and Hell is not on our plane. If it were, Tyrael could have remained there at all times and fought along side of the heroes. In order for an angel to turn into a burning ball of fire coming to Sanctuary, he'd have to be part of this plane in the physical sense. He'd be completely charred and destroyed before he even hit the Cathedral.

    c) Tyrael In Concept Art

There's a group of pictures on the d3 website that seems to be from a cinematic. It shows an angel with orange wings. Many people refer to this as Tyrael. Tyrael does not have orange wings, nor does he have a winged helm or a bright symbol on his chest (upturned sword or cross, still debatable). In the simple drawing that comes with it, it shows someone in front of this angel. Many say that this is Imperius and Tyrael. I'm not saying that it's not Imperius, but I put my foot down with Tyrael. First, Tyrael doesn't walk, he's always floating. In the drawing, the person opposite of "Imperius" (used as a simple reference to the other angel) is obviously lower and at ground level to him. Second. there are no wings. I instantly saw the wisps on the back of the person (too short to be wings) as a cloak or piece of cloth from a robe. I believe that it's Cain, but I'm not too sure.

    D) There is not a drawing of another class in the art video

The woman with a hood and a snake is not some unannounced class. It is a barbarian. On the diii website, there is a still of her. She still looks like a female barbarian. Besides this, there is a picture of a Barbarian before her and after her before it goes into all pictures of the witch doctor. Blizzard has never been one release screenshots or art that give anything away. With WoW you never found a screenshot or drawing of a class that wasn't announced. They're much too meticulous about this kind of thing. They want to leave you guessing.

Aside from this, by revealing another class, they reveal another part of the story. We get a story with the Barbarian and the Witch doctor. Releasing a class also releases more monsters, more regions on the map (about the different regions), as well as a back story to sanctuary. They save these things so that things make more sense to the reader and too leave you hungering for more information. Sales tactics.

    10) Other Ideas

This is where I post other ideas that don't really have to deal with a major part in my theory.

    A) Belial or Azmodan in Art

There's a picture of a woman with blush skin and an octopus like bottom with chains around her. I believe that this is either Belial or Azmodan. She seems to be a bit too grand to be a simple boss. There is also no proof that Belial and Azmodan were both male. Andarial was in the same set of demons as Bel and Az are (lesser demons) and it was a girl.

    B) The Hydra

I'm too lazy to do the research but I forget who is the Lord of Lies. The hydra in the movie could possibly be that demon. Three heads symbolic for telling different stories (or lies). Not knowing which is the truth.

Well that's about it. I know there are probably holes in the theory. Rather than flaming me and referring to me as an idiot, tell me where I was wrong so I can learn more. Feel free to expand. Or create something new.
