Quote fromTotally agree with you here Medi; there were lots of times in KOS where I had to read parts over and over cause I was soo confused of what was going on. Almost done with Birthright; want to be all caught up with the lore by the time the game comes out. Oh and I didn't see Demonsbane at the Blizzard shop; is it really that rare or just not supported by them?
Demonsbane is an e-book on Amazon and is included in the new diablo archives book

And Tyrael will be a big focus i think, look at the front page of the diablo 3 site! I also dont think Tyrael would be dumb enough to put a soulstone in his head, I think he learned from d2 that that is a BAD idea.
And in regards to what happened to Baal's soulstone, didnt he put it in the worldstone to corrupt it? Also, one way to explain both the 3 merging to make one uberdemon and their return in the first place may be that a shard of the worldstone that contained their essences at the moment it exploded impaled Tyrael or one of the band of heroes, but not the barbarian.

Wow, anyone else think the soulstone is similar the ring from LOTR? It contains the much of the dark lord's power and if he regains it he becomes incredibly powerful, and the only way to destroy it is to take it to a hellish underground forge. Oh and its power corrupts humans who hold it.

The game really needs to emphasize story, cuz there are so many ppl on d2 who have totally unfitting names like "butt3rcup412" for a barb or "chip_N_dip819" for a necromancer who is like level 15 and totally decked out in cheap rune equipment. and you just know he only got his levels and items from being rushed and doing a million baal runs with level 89 ppl. anyone feel the same way that d3 has to make the story so much more emphasized?
ALSO what if single player mode had additional story stuff in it?

I think that part of what makes Diablo great is that it is different in that it keeps its middle/dark age feel instead of turning into another japanese fantasy game. Those are great on occasion, but if every game is a blurred mix of the two, then individuality will be lost.
Take the barbarian for example, despite certain more extreme things here and there he is relatively historically accurate. The armor isnt TOO exxagerated, the helms, believe it or not arent all that different from reality. Danish, Norwegian, and German knights consistently used great helms with horns on them similar to the one used by Sigon.
As a result you have a brutal, frightening, and more believable character. He is manlier than if he were covered in crazy frilly overly ornate and decorated armor.
And that is JUST what Final fantasy is about these days unfortunatley. As Schwarzenegger would call them, the heroes all look like "girly men."
Now with the Witch-doctor, I like their creative idea here, adding some dark voodoo to the mix of Diablo, but is it just a Troll from warcraft with human features? Nonetheless he is pretty intriguing, I want to see what he can do when faced with bigger monsters and such.
A samurai could be cool if it were VERY historically accurate, but if he has overly crazy hair and huge yellow shoes and uses a key as a blade, I will be VERY disappointed.

Also, seriously tho, I want to see some restaraunts n stuff, we need a Barb Beer Hall.
In town quests. i have mixed feelings. If I am a brutal-barbarian with massive-muscles and a horned-helm, I would not save somebodys kitty from a tree, or deliver tiny packages of grain, or look for somebodys missing socks, all of which are typical in-town quests in WoW. If its an in-town quest, it should be something like catching a thief, or winning a beer drinking contest, or defending a city while it is being sieged(somebody mentioned that earlier)
The defending a town while it is being sieged(that a word?) is great, you could rally local ppl you find into joining your temporary defense squad or something.
Another thing, what do you think about hireable party members with randomly generated personalities? It could add an interesting element to the gameplay i think.
Thoughts?

By FAR the most well designed act IMO is act 5 followed by act 3. In act 5 you are breaking a siege and travelling up a mountain, passing by enemy encampments, destroying catapults, passing by all sorts of great scenery that doesnt have any point other than being scenery. The Barbarian town itself is also FANTASTIC. You see barbarians living their lives, cooking food, forging weapons, etc. And you see plenty of realistically proportioned buildings. My one gripe with Diablo 1 is that the cathedral building itself is totally dwarfed by the underground passaged it has. Act 5 is great IMO because I know that I could take
1 minute of gameplay and turn it into decently sized short-story filled with character and depth.
Also wouldnt it be great if you could sit in restaraunts like a giant barbarian beer hall? (Beowulf anyone?)

The people dont even have to talk, just put more of em there so it can feel more like a world. ANother thing that would be great would be individual small buildings in towns that have ppl or merchants or just more stuff to explore on the inside. Kind of like final fantasy 7(None of the other crappy ones, they got waaaay too girly. FF9 and on is a friggin joke) or MYST.
Or really, I would love to see more scenery(objects, buildings, NPC's, etc.) that is just there for no purpose other than to suck the player into the world and make it feel so much more alive and real.

You know what would be hell of awesome tho? If Blizzard commisioned a well done and damned MANLY manga of the sagas of Blood Raven, The Summoner, and The Wanderer. Or i they did a short story anthology telling tales about various armor sets and NPC's.
There are so many great characters in Diablo I just wanna see MOAR of, you know?

Anyways what do you think about my theory about the Immortal King being Bul-kathos who forged the two swords known as Bul-kathos children with his maul?
0
Bul-Kathos taught the barbs the secret of crafting swords from steel, right? What do you use to pound steel on an anvil? A big friggin hammer! Maybe Bul-Kathos was a great metalsmith and used the famous IK maul to forge the first two swords: The Children of Bul-Kathos!
So again its like he wore the armor, and wearing the armor, used the giant IK Maul of his to forge the first swords. Like he was the father of swords making the Name Bul-Katho's Children fit perfectly!
And as another random idea, maybe he imbued the armor he wore with his spirit so that every Barb who wore it sort of carried on the legacy of the Immortal King. Kind of like the Armor of Bartuc the Bloody in the Diablo novel Legacy of Blood. Notice the main piece of the armor is called "the Immortal King's SOUL CAGE"
Think Im on to something?
And Sigon continues to be confusing, the armor has bonuses for every class, the boots having a bonus for only Assasins, and thre rest of the armor not rlly being assasin related at all.

I think it would be a MOOving story!
Im rlly glad to see ppl enjoyed my little story. Did it seem accurate? what would you have changed? what did you think worked?
