    One item?

Pffft, give me a shared stash where I can at LEAST mule across a full equipment setup. At the very least. Least.

Okay, I didn't think that through. But if you make it a huge stash, people aren't going to use it to transfer stuff--they're going to use it to store stuff. And that's what the 'normal' stash is for.

With that in mind, I reverse my position and agree 100% with the 'mail' idea for transferring.

There are at least 2 PRO current art direction petitions, but they haven't nearly as many signs as the CONTRA petition.

That's because people who either favor or don't care about the 'art direction' don't seek them out. Like me. I haven't signed either of those petitions, or any others like them, and I saw NOTHING to complain about art-wise in the entire gameplay trailer. On the other hand, I was blown away.

I quit playing hellgate when the npcs started being really stupid...There was a npc in hellgate with a monkey on his face suggesting oral sex with the monkey? Then that npc was ordering me around about what to do in terms of quests. That was so stupid I quit right after that.

That pair of NPCs (the one you mentioned and his 'master') was one of the most awesome things in that game. It wasn't just 'stupid,' but it really seemed like both of them were literally completely insane. After a while, they were the only NPCs whose voice acting I'd hear out, while everyone else was just going into a long speech about my next mindless "kill X of this" or "find Y of that which mob X drops" quest.

    Hey guys,

Back in the good old diablo 2, the only way we could send an item from one char to another is either X-fer (Give to another player and tell him to hold onto it until you come back with your other char) or to make a server, drop the item you want them leave and come back as fast as possible and hope to god the server didnt shut down.

Actually, once you figured out how the latter worked, it was fairly safe, given you had a stable internet connection. Create a game, set a timer for five minutes, then leave and come back with the mule or whoever.

Still a band-aid though, and still pretty annoying, I agree.

Either of these methods are terrible and you could get screwed badly because of greed or server disappearing. I think we need something new. Here are my suggestions, feel free to add/change something and please, ONLY CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.

    1) Make a mail box where you simply place the item in an inventory looking box, type the player name at the top and click send. This way you can send yourself an item through mail

    2) Create an NPC who you give your item to, tell him who to send it to and he becomes a sort of delivery boy. For a price of course, pay him in gold and he will send your item to your other char.

Thats all i got. I believe my first suggestion is from WoW and even if you dont like the game you must admit it is an effective way to get stuff done.

    Thanks.

How about a collective stash? It would work pretty much like the mail idea, except you wouldn't have to bother putting a name in. This stash would have enough room for one item, and the stash is shared on the account level, so any character on the account could access it, and retrieve the stored item.

As far as sending items to OTHERS...well, some mail system or something would probably be best, but I haven't thought about the mechanics of that.

That's what I've been telling my friends who already seem to think this new fangled details and colors thing is weird.

Well fuck me, I said the same thing yesterday and didn't get a reaction like that, lol... :P

It wouldn't kill me if it stayed I just don't really understand why it's there. There is no green glow or lighting anywhere to cause it.

Could be fucking ectoplasm for all we know. :P

But seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if it was explained in-game...wouldn't be the first time some 'evil force' was described as causing a 'sickly glow' in the areas it 'inhabits' in a work of fiction. Maybe it's like the Den of Evil's darkness--fulfill an objective and it'll go away from that area, 'cleansing' it.

Since Diablo 2 gives no real rewards for killing another player...only thing resembling an award were the 'trophy' ears, which were implemented stupidly (you can give them away to anybody--so much for being able to prove you killed so-and-so by having their ear)...I never really saw the point in Diablo 2's implementation of PvP in general. I guess it's fine for the super-competitive people who really want/need that 'bragging rights' feeling to have fun, but I guess I'm too mellow for that. I don't want to kick my own ass trying to have perfect gear so that I can even have a chance against one of the couple archetypes that beat the shit out of everything else in PvP (since it's obvious the classes were never designed for PvP in the first place...I heard the stories, but wasn't playing then, or else I would have loved to see the guided arrow/pierce combo in action).

Just doesn't appeal to me. Cooperating with other players, bringing our forces together to kick some ass, now that's fun--at least monsters drop items for you. Only way to do that with another player is to trick them into trying to retrieve their corpse when they're carrying other stuff. :P

Have you ever played a Diablo game? That's what it is, brown, red, black, and white.

But all I can remember in Diablo 2 is the BLARING GREEN of the Sorceress's default outfit:

    Greeeeen

People need to remember that there was less variation in the color because the graphics capabilities were lower then. That's the same reason a LOT of older games (including D2 and Diablo and even older) have more 'darkness' in them--because your imagination will create more vivid images than the crappy graphics you'd see all the time if everything was well-lit. :P It's pure psychology.

Now, the graphics level is better, so there's no reason to hide it anymore. When I saw most of those 'improvement' screenshots, one word floated through my head: Quake. I'm not looking to see how many shades of brown I can count in Diablo 3.

Not to mention that there's no logic in the complaints about the colors changing the atmosphere at all. Strangely, seeing those glops of blood flying all over the place as the Barbarian hacked at things contributed a little more to the atmosphere than how much 'painted on' blood was in the floor texture.

the stupid out of place "Nobody ever listens!" comment from Cain is a sure sign that metzen is writing the dialogue.

Stupid? It's a clear nod to Diablo 2, where he'd always ask you to "stay awhile and listen". Of course, no one ever did, they'd just go to him to ID their stuff and leave immediately, so they made that into a little joke in Diablo 3. Personally, I thought it was awesome, and a sign that Diablo 3's predecessor wasn't forgotten.

TP was, in effect, disabled at the area where the ancients resided. It's been done before, with half-successful results; the player could just TP right before the ancients anyways.

It would be trivial to code an area that can't be entered or exited after a quest is 'activated'. The Ancients thing was coded sloppily, simply resetting if someone uses a town portal while they're there. It wouldn't be hard to really code something like that, though.

Timmah obviously created this thread because he resented his thrashing in the locked thread. :P His arguments are obviously weak, they've been wrecked, for him to think Diablo 2 was not primarily a cooperative game is ridiculous, and that's really the end of it. Don't let yourself be baited into turning this into another thread like that.

This might be something that's been suggested a ton of times before, but I've never seen it...it just seems like a likely outcome if you have those health orbs that drop, but there are still potions in the game (as far as I know, both are true according to the latest news).

What I think they may do is make it so that you can buy potions in town, but no potions will drop from mobs, just orbs that'll heal you some, but that you obviously can't carry with you. In this way, potions will become more of an item for emergency use.

    Sound plausible to you guys?

At least the zombie wall can be explained, unlike the floating red orbs.

Actually, you could explain the latter as absorbing some sort of life force from the fallen enemies.

For the zombies, I refer you to a post earlier in this thread--to be able to summon a line of zombies anywhere, you'd basically need a layer OF zombies to be in the ground everywhere you are, lol. Then there are questions about being able to summon them if you're standing on stone or other hard materials you wouldn't expect decaying flesh to be able to puncture.

I definitely think summoning a wall of zombies at will wherever you want requires more suspension of disbelief. :P

No you are definitely not alone. We may even see a large number of people from the still thriving SP community finally come back to battle.net, many of whom left years ago sickened by the behavior of cattle.net.

I for one eagerly await this game, and am excited about getting into a big party the first day and going through as far as we can. I doubt I will even touch SP.

So far what we know of the game, the aspects they are adding to promote coop are great, and I fully expect more good news in the future with even more positive aspects.

Why does this make me wonder if people are going to organize parties for day 1? :P
