Yeah I see your point, but I still think it would be nice to have at least few bosses that would have to be killed using environment... side quest or rare quest boss perhaps? I completely agree with you that all the last bosses in acts should be killed the normal way

True, I could see it being fun for bosses that you rarely kill/grind for items, think the smith from D II?

But keep bosses that we will be running often subject to all damage.

Blizzard has stated their intentions of creating some form of Blizzard-wide achievements for all platforms, but I never considered it to be a serious plan, until they implemented it into WoW. We may possibly see this kind of stuff being taken from there and brought over to Diablo and Starcraft. As long as they are adjusted to the game you are playing and implemented with care, I think it is a good idea. I would actually consider things like slaying a certain number of certain enemies as minor achievements at the most and don't want too many of those should this be implemented into D3. Instead, something that would reward players by making logical stepping stones would be better. Completing every quest, including optional ones comes to mind, as does the act of purging areas completly to protect smaller settlements. Basically, stuff that has reason and rhyme to be done, instead of mostly senseless grinding. If achievements were also somewhat class-balanced, they would offer a reasonable entry for having ranks or similar things in D3.

Ya I was a fan of this idea when they first mentioned it several months ago. I am an avid fan of both Diablo, Starcraft, and WC III (would be one of WoW, but I have at least something of a life lol) and I was happy when they said they would have an xbox like achievement system for all their franchises. I feel that most things in WoW require large amounts of specific time (some of my friends always raid at 8, so it is not something they can just pic up and do) so the achievements would likely follow suit.

I feel Diablo is much more pick up and go, so the achievements will be similar. I am sure there would be some longer ones as well, but they won't be a pain in the ass like some WoW quests.

Also, this brings up the question, how many different characters can one player have per an account if some achievements are character based?

Wizard/WD: Monster explosion. If we can have corpse explosion get this. An active monster w/ less than X health will explode if the spell is cast on it. If not, he will just take X damage. Eh?

I don't like the player gaining ranks so much as a player. If a player could gain ranks and achievements that would be cool I guess.

And also should come back from D1:
    - Magma Demons
    - Lightning Demons
    - Vipers (the D1 variant)
    - those spitting dogs
    - Overlords (they're the guys who look like the Butcher.. actually these are already back; I saw one in a gameplay video from Blizzcon)

Combined with monsters they already did bring back, that's pretty much every enemy from d1.

Interesting idea, I never really thought about it, but it makes sense I guess. The only problem I see is that assasins (if they were in the game) would take quite a bit longer to level up than someone who plays agressively. I would get tired of the playing style and just want to go in.

    I really like it.

@gabbzy: How can corpse explosion be effective if you can only have 12 active bodies on screen at a time.

A big problem with the necro is that he would require a shitload of processing power.

They are still deciding on sets and how they should work, as they thought they were kind of broken in D2 which i SORT OF agree with.

Broken as in OP? Not at all. Nobody used sets after 1.11, maybe the occasional tal rasha, but that's it...

They said the real problem was that by the time you completed the set, you were already too good for it, so you had to give it to a lower level char. (Which is fine, but they said its not what they had in mind.)

Staffs are very much a defensive weapon as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they were used as such.
