I hardly ever take the advice of manuals, but I do like to read them. It's interesting to see the classes, skills, monsters, etc etc. Manuals are probably one of my favorite parts of the game.

I love to read manuels while I am going home/installing so when I play I am ready to go :P

They don't need an early release...

They do listen, there isn't a whole lot they can change, but they take certain things into account, (I believe they are trying to make objects stay on screen longer?

posted a message on Gold as a currency
    Quote from "REN" »
Whatever is most useful, most rare and most wanted (SOJ, Runes, Skulls) will turn into our main source of trade, something that you can get easily will never be a source of currency of a game.

The only way to turn gold into a effective trade is probably to add a world of warcraft style system to it and break it down into copper, silver and gold and make it so you have to really work your butt off to have high amounts of it.

Problem with that system however is over time gold will become useless, its happening in world of warcraft now with gold become more an more useless to the player base at higher levels cause they realize that all they need it for is the repair there gear and buy a few things.

The rest of it now is just quest, raid and you'll be right.

Personally you can never make a effective economy that won't have its highs or lows, all you can do is try and make a balanced economy and leave it to the players to sort out how they wish to trade there items, be it gold or other items.

Note: Yes you could introduce a bop/boe system but in this style of game it would really peeve a lot of people off

Very good point, If you ask me we should tell the top economists to stop focusing on the U.S. economy and start thinking about DIII :P

posted a message on Um, Why do they link an un-updated SC2 site on the homepage?
The starcraft site they link on the homepage hasn't been updated in two weeks, I can't believe they actually call themselves a fan site or that Dfans links it on their homepage...

Seriously, which is more important, a book signing or the fact that SC II is now a three part series...

I never really cared about the color or content (bunnies/rainbows) so much as I cared about realism. I didn't want cartoony things.

I am now a supporter of DIII :)

Ah, you're one of those people who were pissed at the Halo 2's ending? I'm not so sure you can really compare this situation to what happened at the end of Halo 2.

As for D3 costing money to play online, are you sure about this? I've heard different things.

    @Killer
Don't you realize that Ikariam is basically an RTS game played as a browser game. How can you not be interested in Starcraft? :P

One of those people? I think you are referring to the majority of Halo fans. Halo 2 & 3 stories were terrible, but back to blizzard.

    - I think making 3 starcrafts was a terrible idea. I mean it was clearly a monetary choice, not campaign one. I mean honestly, the campaigns in RTS games are so limited anyway. Pretty much just replays of a few scenarios with slight variations. Making 90 campaign missions will become incredibly repetitive, they want story? Write some more books. Don't make people buy 3 games just to stay updated on multiplayer, which is what 80% of fans truly care about...

    and now to D3...

    - Yea, I don't know how much (if at all) blizzard will charge for extra content on D3. Something tells me I will buy it anyway, but not be happy about. I mean while I can't blame them for wanting to make an easy buck, I can blame them for being selfish.

All in all, I will buy everything Blizzard throws at me :P

posted a message on 4 Players Per game?
    Quote from "Daemaro" »
I guess it was a necessary addition to keep lag down. I don't think they would have done it for no reason.

I would of preferred 6 characters at least but maybe this won't be so bad with the new battle.net chat system. We'll still FEEL more of a community.

I agree, I would have liked to see 6, but I guess this makes more sense. Now that I think about it, my friends and I pretty much had the best times when there was only a few of us.

When I think about it the only time I saw full 8 player games were rushes (lame), baal runs (lamer), and trades.

I wonder how they will keep the trade thing going though.
