The game's always been about the loot (for me, atleast). The "endgame" was exciting news for me.

Also, "through" not "threw". At least, in the context you were using.

ahh grammar nazi! I actually thought about changing it because I figured that very thing would happen, but I felt like being lazy except for the last one there

I didn't threaten to kill you or anything (thanks for calling me a Nazi...-_-). I just politely corrected you, and it'd be appreciated if y'all didn't overreact like prepubescent children.

    3.) IT'S 2011 GUYS. Being online isn't a big deal.
Incidentally, nowadays being offline is a big deal. I know I personally get really upset if my internet goes out for a few hours due to my crappy ISP (even if I had no plans on using the internet).

...if you can sit and spend $40 (estimate of course) to kit out your characters.. Where's the accomplishment, or fun? Biggest replayability killer for me. If that is stupid in your eyes or not, it is hardly the matter.
Clearly, that's not what you would be doing. It's a given that you'll make your accomplishment through man hours playing the game (as will I), so why does it bother you so much that some other players may want to go that route? Live and let live, right?

    Quote from Nuggetslug

...So on a related note....do you think they will let people put real money onto their accounts, for characters that will eventually be deleted once the game is actually released?
I'm not sure what you mean here. I'm pretty sure they said the real money auction house will not be in the beta, thus there's no incentive to spend money on it before the game's released.

...differences between skills, runed skills, and skill combinations will vary a lot.
Yea I suppose, but you have to admit, skill combinations would have varied greatly with the ability to use your own points.

I was reading this and I can't help but point out, that statement did not refute Don's point. You essentially created a straw man argument.

In any case, I'm one of the ones who voted 'love it' on the new skill system. Main reason: It's been 10 years since D2 and I'm not the 14-yr old back then who had nothing but time on hand. I am going to enjoy having one uber Monk who can be any build, since I don't have time to level up a few different Monk builds. This is just more fun for me, personally. I don't want to make any comment on the longevity of the game due to this change; we'll just have to see how it goes.

I like the idea that you won't have 1 or two skills that you spam constantly the whole entire game.
Thanks for reminding me. That was an implication that I found really exciting when I read the interview.

Just use the official IRC chatroom. Do a google for a web-based IRC client so people without MIRC can join. Problem solved.

I assume this is the official chatroom?

I'd have to stay up 'til 2:01am since I'm in Central, which is a daily occurence anyway. If I were to join, my participation would not be dissimilar to how it is on these forums: lurking.

So it's not really the fansite kit that any big name company is pretty much expected to put out anymore, but the pictures that are the big news thing. So then why did something that every company does get the title and the new pictures comment not get it's own thread but instead get a mention in another thread?

    Either way:
    Yay! New Pictures!
Yay! A fansite kit that every big name company puts out!
    Quote from "LinkX" »
Don't get me wrong, I am going to be one of the first people to buy it if I have the money, I just don't see why we should congratulate Blizz for doing something that -every- big name gaming company does.

I could use your own ridiculous logic, too. Yeah, every big gaming company hypes their new releases by unveiling information about the game as it approaches the street date. Blizzard does this, too! Why should we congratulate them putting up new information and resources for their game every so often? Every big name company does this! So why should these things make it into the news posts?! The news threads should only be things that are rarely done by gaming companies, so I don't need to see all these new pictures, interviews, gameplay videos, or the like. That sort of thing has been done. Sigh...

Honestly, you needn't be so...nitpicky and uptight that every post you make in this thread is to state this illogical distaste for a fankit that you've deemed insignificant for unreasonable and arbitrary reasons.

It's kind of irritating that you are so incredibly critical about Blizzard providing the fans with a gift. Even more irritation that this criticism croms from such a silly reason.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Achievements vs. Steam/WoW's
    Quote from "milanv" »
you're welcome... I didn't realise that you know everything oh mighty one. I will now just return to my quarters and punish myself for having an opinion different than your own... /whipping sounds/

What he said was common knowledge for any Steam user. Even I know that, and I don't do much more than play their games. Also, most of what he said was factual, not opinion, so that lame comeback there doesn't work too well for your side of the arguments, if one can even call it that. The only opinion was when he claimed you to be dumb.
Valve may make different genres of games than Blizzard, but what I believe waddlez was thinking about when he said they were superior is their skills in game design and receptiveness to their community. This is the reason for the claim that if Valve went to produce MMOs, RTS, and RPGs that they would achieve the same success and critical acclaim that they do with their current products. I'd love to elaborate on this, but I can get pretty long-winded (which I am somewhat already), so I'll spare you.

In an attempt to stay on-topic with the thread, I'll say that I like achievements. I had to click the link to see what they were talking about with the WoW achievements and their apparent "unfairness". Well, those are achievements for ya. I'm a completionist, but one with some common sense and rationality. I mean, some of those WoW achievements were really something, as in, they showed that the player did something out of the ordinary. I love the system in Steam, as well, but I hate what the more superficial completionists do with it. I'm talking about those "achievement servers" the losers go to when they lack the skills to legitimitely attain them. I'm hoping D3 won't really have these problems, but then again, with achievements comes people like said losers who completely have no comprehension of what an achievement is supposed to be.
Ahhh, I'm just upset that my brother completely invalidated my honorable Pyro by entering one of these servers and making everything (records and achievements) complete BS. Now I'm getting off-topic again...
