umm not really, the woman is quite provocatively posed...but in your defense, the other one is a overzealous pally.

Are you suggesting that provocative and tasteful are mutually exclusive? Because then we would fundamentally disagree.

and the amazon is wearing a skintight shirt, leaves little to imagination of whats under it.

Irrelevant, she was speaking on terms of flesh exposed. She never used any other method to define the explicit nature of picture depiction. Except, perhaps, the fact that women have breasts larger than a man, since she refuses to express what she considers "too large" for a video game.

Breasts arouse men. Considerably. That's why they keep making them big... srsly...

Only because of puritan taboo. They wouldn't be treated as they are in the States were it not for this fact.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
Sex organs is the wrong term there was some term but I forgot.

Breasts are breasts. Men have them, women have them. They are differently shaped for everyone, and they serve a maternal function for women. There is nothing inherently sexual about them, they are given the sexual connotation thanks to puritan taboo.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
The D2 guy is covered in cloth.

    Uh, hello?

What about that outfit is NOT revealing of the male chest? Hello, I nearly see nipple. Why are people not up in arms over that? Why isn't that pornographic? Just because they don't have the glands and ducts necessary to produce and excrete milk does not deter from the fact that they are, indeed, an area of the male body that women find highly attractive, especially when they are well toned.

The amazon outfit, in contrast, doesn't even show the slightest degree of flesh above the waist:

Let's talk about current depictions. Screen captures of the new barbarian below; hell of a lot more revealing.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
They just show skin. They do not show genitals or breats (since they don't have any).

This is why I said you're either lying or pretending to be stupid, because men do have breasts.
A discussion on the difference of breasts in men and women, and how men's breasts normally are less noticeable: http://www.pamf.org/teen/health/malehealth/breasts.html
A definition of men developing sizeable breasts: http://menshealth.about.com/cs/embarrassments/a/gyn_males.htm
Information on breast reduction surgeries for men: http://www.plasticsurgery.org/patients_consumers/procedures/Gynecomastia.cfm
Conversely, information for men seeking to increase breast size: http://www.transfemme.com/
And, of course, medical conditions that target male breasts: http://www.malecare.com/male-breast-cancer_13.htm

I'm tired of your lame arguments. I realize you have some kind of crusade building here, but I'm not taking this stupid breast in males debate any further. You are scientifically incorrect when you say men do not have them. End of discussion.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
Women topless and men topless is not hte same thing.

Only because of societal BS. If you are truly incapable of doing your own research on this, I can provide you plenty of links to information about nude beaches in South America and Europe, as well as nudity in non-USA media, such as films and television. Once again, the inequality you are speaking of is not the same as the true inequality.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
You know how here in USA men all wear long shorts that cover their knees? And women wear bikinis that hardly cover anything? WTF? I want to see guys in tight shorts, maybe, why do they have to wear long ones and girls end up wearing nothing, I don't get this social standard here...

So you admit to being just as shallow as the boys and men you've spent this entire thread condemning, huh? You do realize the reason the women wear such outfits are because they choose to of their own volition to attract other people, or for their own empowerment. Hey, it's NOT US that's checking you all out while you are home alone in front of your mirrors, examining how hot you look in that new outfit or bikini. We're not the ones telling you to lose those extra five pounds to fit into your wedding dresses. Place the blame where it belongs!

The irony here is that I'm the one saying "yeah, let's let the men be represented in an attractive, perhaps even provocative way, just so everyone's happy". You're the one crying out for the placement of a double standard, not I.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
I never heard of Europe embracing that female breasts do not have any special sexual effect on men at all.

That's because you'd rather spend time making baseless claims on a messageboard, as opposed to doing some honest research.

    Quote from "Equinox" »
I don't care how the majority feels. I have my own opinion, thank you very much. I am annoyed at females represented extremely sexually while males are all covered up.

Your opinions are perfectly fine, I've never held your opinions in contempt. It has been your pitiful way of expressing them. You make false claims post after post, then get offended when I suggest that you may very well be lying. If you had left your posts at pure opinion, this thread would be a whole lot shorter than it currently is.

Nevertheless, I do appreciate your input.

Why is this the representation of a guy in a game: http://bestgamewallpapers.com/files/diablo-2/the-blessed-paladin.jpg

And this is the representation of a girl in a game: http://members.aol.com/skovde/aribeth_breeze3.jpg

Why is her top part open? To let monsters cut it in or something?

That's what they call "grasping at straws", my friend. As long as the depictions are held in good taste, they are appropriate, regardless of how little or how much flesh is shown. Both of those pictures are quite tastefully and respectfully done.

    Quote from "applesoffury" »
small parts do. very small parts, just like in th US, nude beaches/colonies. Brazil is actually more liberal than many European countries...

Try Spain. Tons of nude beaches, they are very liberal -- my wife went there during college.

last i checked the storyline of hardcore was kill or be killed. I hear players are much friendlier on the softcore realm....play there if you can't protect your char.

That's okay, we'll play in the non-PK games of Diablo III and be quite content enjoying the game itself.

Because the point of PKing is to set up an environment where it is NOT a choice.

Not too dissimilar from burglary, rape or murder in real life, is it?

If that is implimented then everyone will set their games to non-pk and then the only games that will be PK-able would be duel games.. or games that will eventually be turned into duel games because PKers only have a choice of 1 or 2 out of thousands of games which they can join.

Good, then it's settled and we're in agreement.

Probably because men do not have secondary sex organs to show, really. Bare torso is not the same thing... I don't really know a game where men are depicted sexually. They are mostly depicted normally. All I want is the same treatment for women. If you call making them look like sex playthings making them look "fantastic" you need to start thinking about how women psychology works with this...

Please explain how breasts are "secondary sex organs". They are no moreso than feet, hands or mouths. Unless you are defining that term to mean "a secondary means to identify a lifeforms sexual identity", in which case I must inform you that there are a decent number of men with breasts and women with little to none. The male barbarians in both D2 and D3 are topless, which depicts them far more sexually than the women, because you see much less of their bare flesh, so you are either lying or pretending to be obtuse to claim you've played no such game.

I agree, I want the same treatment. I think we should all be able to be drawn topless without having a retarded social stigma labeling it pornographic. A good portion of Europe embraces such equality, why not the States?

Oh, and if you truly don't think women want this equality, then you haven't spent much time keeping up with the real world for, say, 50 years?

    http://losing-the-thread.blogspot.com/2008/01/topfree-equality.html

I could go on disproving this ridiculous notion that all women are incredibly offended at seeing other "bewbs", but if you put a tad bit of effort into research for yourself, you wouldn't need to have your ideologies pounded so hard into the dirt.

PK and Griefing happens on WoW pvp servers all the time. The 2 million players who play on those realms seem fine with that.

They didn't mind because they knew that it came with the territory of the servers that they chose to play on, specialized servers that not everyone was forced to play on.

Learn to play. 6-7 people could easily kill a hammerdin.

If every one of them just so happened to be using characters with PvP builds and were a decent enough level to stand a chance. But of course, I'm sure every game you've ever played, the characters have always been of optimum builds, with optimum gear and optimum levels, so you've never had to worry about a thing.

Well in D1 it was one class who defeated Diablo, I see no reason to turn back from that

And I don't deny the 'group of adventurers' plot idea either, it's just that not all of them could hold the hammer at the same time and smash it. So which person from that group did indeed smash the soulstones is what I'm asking

I don't think it was ever said that he alone defeated Diablo, just that he chose to take the heavy burden of encasing Diablo's incorporeal form within him.
