I really must say that i hate the fact that it might turn out to be 4-5 players max per game.
Why? - Couse i have more friends than 4-5, now we have to divide ourselves into two teams when playing together? This is too much like wow for my liking, there it's the same thing aswell, i had 11 IRL friends playing wow, we all live in the same town, and when we were going to do some instance for badges or whatever we always ended up in having to say "No you can't come, party's full", which is bs, please don't ruin Diablo 3 in the same way.

Aug 7, 2008About friggin' time, well, this isn't 100% sure that they'll change the art. Perhaps the former one made the basics and now they want someone to make it into something else.Posted in: News & Announcements
But thank god for this! Seriously.
Aug 2, 2008Let's say Diablo 3 was to be released in 2011.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I for one wouldn't buy it, atleast i wouldn't 'rush to buy' it.
Blizzard should really stop these rumors, not that we should take rumors seriously, but atleast when 'pc magazines' write such things it might get people running, just like this one did.
Anyway, i don't think diablo 3 will come out 2011, perhaps sometime 2009 like people have stated here, on the other hand, there'll be SC2 until Diablo 3 comes
Aug 2, 2008I think i'm doing a thumbs up with the potions, but what about mana potions?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Will mana be restored rapidly? or do mana potions have cooldown aswell? Imagine spamming spells with a sorc-based-class and you're out of mana, pop a mana potion and you're ok, and then you keep spamming spells and you're out of mana again and notice 'gah cooldown'.
So no CD on mana pots please.
And that situation the OP had, in that situation the health orbs might be good, but hopefully these health orbs have quite low drop rate or we'll end up looting these all the time. As when in D2 you're killing the cows in cow level, killing up to 100 (or whatever) cows before resting, and there you are.. 1 unique drops, 1 rare, 1 green , 68 piles of gold and 88 health orbs!
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Danitor" »I must admit that I am highly irked by the current art direction. I have been a follower of the series since the beginning (Diablo 1) and have been playing each of the games (D1,D2,LOD) since they came out. The Diablo series are the only games that I have ever been able to 'stick' to and return to all these years. So it is understandable that I, as well as the others like me, have high standards (unreasonably high) for what Diablo 3 should be. But regardless of how the few of us oldtimers react to to game, it is going to sell. It is marketing genius for Blizzard to pull their WOW clients into the realms of Diablo and Starcraft. This will allow them to eventually, and most likely, turn each of these franchises into next-gen MMO's. Diablo 3 will sell faster than anything we've seen before and it will most likely be a good game to play. So no, Diablo 3 will not kill Blizzard, but the game does open the door to what could eventually kill the company. If Blizzard continues with the trend on borrowing from its own games (and borrows too much) it will certainly create its own "style" but it will blur each of its franchises into a series of indistinguishable clones. Sure there will always be a certain level of discrepancy between each series but each franchise needs to be definably different from the next in art style, story/lore, gameplay, and general originality. AKA they need to refrain from a 'cookie cutter' proccess.
Omg, you hit the spot, that's exactly what i was hoping someone to write.
This is exactly what i've been wanting to say, but beeing unable to say it as good as you have.
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Nuvian" »Blizzard games sell them self, most of those that signed the petition will buy the game anyway.
Ofcourse most of us will, nowhere on that petition did we sign a statement where it said "We wont buy the game unless you do something".
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "dunhac82" »Wow I'm shocked; another stupid thread on how people are making assumptions about a game that A) we know very, very little about isn't even out yet and 17) just likes to whine and bitch. Don't buy the game then OK? Why are you wasting our time? Why the hell are you even on this site? Diablo 3 will not kill Blizzard and if you think so I'm sorry but; what you don't know could probably fill a warehouse. I can't believe even after we've seen nothing relatively new that people still persist on complaining. It's so annoying coming on here and seeing new stuff everyday about how they are doing this wrong or that wrong....THE FRIGGIN GAME ISN'T EVEN OUT!!!!!
PS How could it be killing them if it ISN'T EVEN OUT?? There is nothing to back up your claim.
I point out the questionmark in the topic. But i get your point, i was mostly refering to making same graphics / colors as in wow. And other things aswell that they take from WoW. If they've been creating this game for 3 years, how come they still ended up with WoW graphics?
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "InstantLite" »What do you mean Diablo 3 is killing Blizzard and 70 people isn't that much..
70 people are quite enough since its one server and all hardcore raiders, and i wonder how many people just quit daily. Ofcourse there are new subsribers daily aswell, but there will come a day when subscribers <>
And changing to diablo 3 will give you the same graphics as in wow, making it less probable that you'll go back to wow etc. atleast it does for me, variaty in graphics is a pretty much a must.
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "FingolfinGR" »
Why not? I was always pissed about PKs because i played hardcore. And lame PKs hurt in there.
Duels? Yeah, sure! PKs? No, thanks!
I played HC aswell, lost 2 of my chars to PKs (89 and 77), i loved it Never liked PK myself, but i love when the adrenaline starts pumping in times of action.
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "FingolfinGR" »the whole concept of this thread looked funny to me at first (Diablo 3 will kill Blizzard, woot!) but now having a couple of kids fighting which one is younger (doesnt matter when they're born, judging by the post the brains arent that old anyway)...
anyway, to get on point and counter a few points:
1. Diablo 3 is similar to WoW only when it comes to the color palette. Other than that, nothing. Isometric camera view, fast paced combat, overpowered classes that can solo the game. Thats what Diablo is all about. And WoW isnt.
2. WoW is huge. The dungeons look much different. Ok, some that have related lore (say orcish villages, centaur dungeons, undead cities etc) have the same architecture. In the Burning Crusade instances where each has 3-4 versions (2 lower level, 1 high level and 1 raid instance mostly) its normal to have these to be "related" both enemy-wise and architecture (mostly thinking of Tempest Keep and Hellfire Citadel right now). That makes them look more similar. Not everything is the same, but not everything makes much of a difference either.
3. Who says some things arent to be taken from successfull games. None of you guys ever complained about Pardo saying they liked God of War alot and took some of the action parts for the game. Why whine about what? User Interface thats the most user friendly interface made for a video game so far?
4. WoW has lost many hardcore players alright, i was one of them. But this doesnt mean they cancelled their subscription. I quit raiding and dont log on the servers that often anymore. But i want to be able to do so whenever i want, so i pay. And i'll definitely try Wrath of the Lich King together with more than half the people that quit.
5. I first thought of the static outdoors world to be of an issue. But then i remembered that thats most likely something that will lead you to a dungeon more often. More bosses and more loots with the good old hack & slash gameplay... thats what i missed so far.
6. Non-petitioners didnt sign for a reason: WE LIKE WHAT WE SAW!
Is it so hard to understand? And from the arguements i've seen so far, theres nothing that would ever lead Blizzard to change their direction either. More than half of the signatures in that petition are from the same people (that signed over and over). And theres a good part of those that even signed a petition to support Blizzard.
7. Diablo 3 isnt just for the Diablo fans. Its for all people that want to try out a great game, no matter what game they were previously playing. How many started playing Diablo with Diablo II and not the first part? I'll say the majority of the fanbase. Oldschool Diablo fans were pissed about Diablo II. I didnt mind and ended up having fun. As i'll do with Diablo III. Let the others whine, Blizzard knows what to do, and they do it.
1 - Nothing else but the color palette? Have you had a good look at the armor/the pathetic way the 'round' things, like the gargoyle statue etc.etc. Even the 3d design leader said they are taking stuff from WoW, read the interview, talents will probably be from WoW (which is from diablo 2 to start with). And they've said that Diablo 3 is about co-operative play 'there's nothing better to do than bashing monsters with your friends', Yeah you'll probably be able to complete the game solo, but as it seems, they are trying to make it more co-operative. Which is good i guess, but if they make a character that can heal, then they've really screwed this game up.
2 - I have nothing to add on this reply, this is a well said reply which covers the truth.
3 -Yeah, but why should diablo 3 be so user friendly? I've read that "PK is out, PvP is in" is this something that we need to 'accept to be killed' part'? Or are they trying to 'fix' it by making us have to choose wether we want a PvP server or PvE server when we create the servers? Should Diablo be like this?
4 - I probably won't try WOTL, since it's all the same, they're trying to get the oldskool people back by introducing the new AMAZING 10 levels and some 'uber' talents (which in the end wont be that uber once everyone hits 80) they just look uber now that there are only level 70 talents out to choose from. Just as it was when BC was released. Just like every other MMO out there, it's about grinding, but Blizzard screws WoW up by inserting new and overtuned items in their expansions. I raided alot before BC, got all the good items and then BC hit, and i noticed i was getting a better trinket almost from the start in BC, a green trinket. This is what will happen once WOTL hits aswell. Making all the items from before the expansion useless, only useful when exping low levels, but hey, who does MC anymore, that instance is so dead, same as all the 'low' level raid instances.
5 - I agree, the outdoors isn't a problem at all for me, I dont mind the rainbow(s) nor the waterfalls, these occur in real life aswell, aslong as we wont spend humongous hours of gameplay outdoors and occasionaly end up in a dungeoun like we did in Diablo 2.
6 - Ofcourse they dont sign petitions, i Laughed hard when i read about someone starting a petition to 'make' blizzard keep current graphics. But I'm guessing people laughed hard about people wanting to change the graphics aswell, and i still think they should i know it would be alot more fun to play with the gothic looks but i'll play it as it is. I just know that the graphics in diablo 3 will make WoW less tempting since they both look the same. Might just be as much as 50% of the ones signing the petition to support blizzard are the same users as well. There's no way to tell, and I'm not even going to check it up, couse the petitions aren't the issues anymore since blizzard announced they arent changing the graphics anymore.
7 - Granted, but with today's internet use you'd hope to be able to change things for the better (not that my vision is for the better, but overall, making yourself heard and take notice on how many think this and that might affect blizzards mind). Bashiok said that he forwards certain suggestions from the forums to the right people, which is very good, i didnt even think they cared, having the rules not to put up petitions.
But we all know blizzard has the money and the people/fans to be able to play with their games, but waiting 8 years for something like diablo 3, hoping that it'd be something spectacular and end up with WoW, is pretty..lame
Aug 1, 2008Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "LarryNC" »its proof diablo 3 looks a bit like wow, that in the end will make them alot of money.. since wows art direction is so well used and popular, no problems on blizzards part, so no, diablo 3 wont even scratch blizzard, it will make them even better. the more diablo 3 connects with wow, the more wow players may play it on their offtime from wow. more moneys for blizzard.
Yes, diablo 3 will be a good game, therefor i wrote the part where " but perhaps this is the last successfull game blizzard will release?".
How come no-one else is against the mono-graphics they are implementing? That all their games will look the same?

Let me guess, you never care about anything? If you're against something (anything at all) then I'm guessing you wouldn't do anything about it. 'You' = Non-petition signers ^^Quote from "timmen" »You are surprised? You are normally not such a big whiner then? Good that you are surprised, I liked the trailer. You CARE too much. Like Diablo 3 is your life, and you will die if it's not the way you want it in every aspect. ' You' = petition signers ^^
Please don't come here with your anger, trying to prove something to yourself.
Aug 1, 2008I myself think that there should be bind on account items. perhaps the most valuable runes or quests like the one in diablo 2 where you could imbue an item, these things should be BOA (bind on account) once done.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Mostly to stop all the duping and such, BoA on the most valuable runes couse once you have the most valuable runes you'll be able to trade the lower ones.
