posted a message on Will running return in D3?
Stamina never ran out fast enough to be a challenge. Only was it challenging in the rare occasion a mosquito hit you in Kurast when you were fighting a lot of mobs. It was just an annoying thing to wait for when you were trying to go places.

Some of the marked towns are not towns either - ex: Arreat Crater. Maybe just significant to the plot line

posted a message on Abd al-Hazir
Who is this fellow? He is described at the bottom of every page on the D3 website as a researcher and author. Obviously new to the lore. Maybe a new Cain-like figure.

I happened to find this at the bottom of the Dark Cultists page:

"This is the last known writing of Abd al-Hazir. Known for his compilation of weird and wonderful facts about our unique world, he has unfortunately been missing since late last year."

So I'm assuming already that the plot will be dealing with finding this fellow.

Any other ideas on this guy? Is he in the books (which I haven't read)?

posted a message on Diablo 1 spell books for D3
You could compare it to charges on weapons or armor in D2. I'm sure they'll be bringing back charged items, but dedicated spell books - could be a fun addition.

While fun to consider, it probably isn't a fit for Diablo 3, unfortunately.

If falling were implemented, maybe it would be an option for most mobs but I'm sure bosses could not be defeated that way - they're too big to move so it wouldn't be possible in reality. Also knockback isn't available to everyone so it could be a luxury of an attack. I'm sure if Blizzard does allow that sort of strategy that they will find a way to balance it.

Or of course not allow it at all - imagine being caught in lag near a drop off - yikes

    posted a message on I don't like the Witch-Doctor
His spells are great additions and are much better than the Necromancer's parallel versions (when you do compare him to the Necro)...

Rabies - really it's a DoT (like a poison) BUT it spreads when it kills an enemy (until it maxes out of course).

Horrify and Confuse - the Necro had both of these as curses - just some minor difference in D3 so far.

Zombie wall - C'mon it's Bone wall but it does damage! It's like casting bone cage and then iron maiden on someone.

Pet summons - really you can go Necro or Druid with this one. Can't really talk about this one until more summoning spells are revealed. But look at the differences: you can buff them with your attacks now, and you can blow them up and cause damage. Not a bad couple of additions!

Fireball - eh can't really say what it's comparable to. It's just the WD's version of a long range attack.

So all that to say I see differences, or at least improvements, and not so much replacement.

I agree.. that extra obstacle of being separated should make things really interesting. I think that's a welcome addition in my book.

Imagine being in Hell again and having to avoid the lava or the void - or Arreat and watching out for the cliffs. Lots of potential. Could lead to some heartache on the PvP ganking side but still a good challenge - especially for those who are adamant about reality in the game.

posted a message on Make Strength, Dex, and Energy more useful in d3.
The stat problem with casters was energy didn't really do anything except increase mana supply. You'd end up dumping 80% of your points into vitality, because items or pots could take care of your mana supply. I always thought that was a flaw.

Witchdoctor actually fits into the Diablo world so far - I mean look at Act III in D2 - you have those fetishes and totem guys. So I don't think it's too farfetched. Those mobs used both fire and summoned (well, resurrected) monsters.

And I don't see how he's not dark. Voodoo and using spirits - that's pretty dark. Just look at his horrify spell - pretty creepy despite the cheesy animation.

posted a message on I found this weird..
Yea wasn't the Summoner hundreds of years old? Or was he not human?

Also not sure of the life spans in the Diablo world, but I know in other fantasy settings like that of Tolkien's, the men of Numenor lived to be three times that of us. Aragorn was way old to our standards in Return of the King, but was still relatively young by their standards. Maybe Diablo lore writers drew some of these aging characteristics from other fantasy worlds.

And on a side note... I think that girl in the trailer is Cain's love child with Atma. I mean she looks to be about twenty, so.... makes sense, right?

posted a message on Speculation about 3D environment
Obviously the dungeons had an added dimension to it, since the gameplay video included ladders and stairs and also had ghouls climbing up the walls.

So the question I'm pondering is... can characters now fall to their death? Could the Barb have fallen off the bridge if he had been a few steps further when it collapsed, or possibly leaped too far on a walkway?

Also I wonder if Blizzard is going to add some new skills that entail scaling walls or jumping down multi-level parts like cliffs. Should be interesting to see what the plans are since the Diablo world is now 3D.

    Your thoughts/predictions/wishes...?

posted a message on Multiplayer. Which style?
Diablo III has way too many mobs and too intense graphics for open world. Can you imagine 50+ Barbs doing ground stomp?

On another note... I thought the post was originally about Open vs. Closed multiplayer in D2. In which case, I liked being able to play a char single player when on the road but couldn't stand getting on Open at home b/c of the hacks.

Horadric cube was an answer to player crafting, and I thought it was an effective use of it. Simple yet intuitive, just like the game itself. I would hope it stays, but please, no real player crafting skills. Leave that to the MMO's!
