posted a message on what's with that friggin' petition thing?
No, you can't discredit the petition because it shows that old fans care about the direction of the game. There are also many who like the new art direction like me.

I know that almost all of you who sign the petition dislike that green/bluish hue. I like it actually, because it encourages me to explore more. There are also just as many, if not more, people who are fine with the greenish/blue hue. Move along people.

If it was going to be anywhere else but the main Blizzard site I would agree, but if they put such a poll on the main site then inevitably a large portion of WoW players some of who may have no intention of ever playing the game are going to be voting where they wouldn't have bothered if the poll was elsewhere. owning a battlenet account however would be a fair enough solution to that.

I've never heard of selling a game to only a specific group of people. The game will be available for any consumer. Why should the poll be limited to only those who've played Diablo 2? Are you saying just because you're a "diehard fan" that your vote should count more?

posted a message on Diablo Petition = Botters.
Regardless if petitioners are botters or not, they are merely louder than those who don't have a problem with the new art direction because they have something to complain about. There are still many of us who embrace the new art direction.

If there wasn't great evil afoot, I don't understand why I'd be out fighting?

I'm contrasting greater evil from lesser evil. The key is variety, not monotony.

To those who like some of those altered screenshots, I think you guys want that hellfire darkness color scheme back, not that bluish-green hue, am I right? But who said that's not going to be there? They've merely shown us a sanctuary dungeon and daylight outside. Actually, we see some of that when the big glutton miniboss gets summoned by 5 cultists in the gameplay video (10:26). Being this is a Diablo game, I guarantee that we're going to see more hellfire elsewhere. But the key is variety. Those still screenshots portray only monotony and gloom. It shouldn't be like that everywhere in the game. The hellfire scheme shows up when great evil is afoot.

Yes, I've seen those screenshots a million times, especially when you have those silly signatures whenever you post. I should also note that your 4th and 7th link have already reached their bandwidth limit. And I do NOT like any of the desaturated photoshop edits. If I'm going to be playing this game on an awesome LED 30" backlit monitor, I damn well better be playing it with colorful 3D graphics, not some shitty colorless and light inhibiting environment that makes me utilize only 50% of the screen space at the center of my huge monitor. Seriously, get with the times people.

It's not like we're seeing one of those colorful korean mmorpg's like Ragnarok Online or Fly for Fun. You're so busy disliking the color that you failed the realize one of the barbarians got their head violently ripped off by the siege beast. That, my friend, looks like a true Diablo game to me.

posted a message on anyone annoyed with the little floating numbers?
I think the floating numbers are fine, but toggle fixes all the problems about it anyway. What they could do is make a slightly noticeably indication like a small flash with piercing sound when you make a critical hit just like in Diablo 2.

posted a message on Diablo 3 loves God of War
Veritech017, you're forgetting that you're comparing Diablo 3 (a game that has to render and implement a separate AI thread for hundreds of monsters and has an extensive loot system) with first person shooters where you fight against only tens of people. Saying it is 6-7 years behind in graphics development is quite an exaggeration. And frankly, bump mapping is overrated and only necessary in first person shooters because you meet up an enemy up close whereas here you have a fixed zoomed out isometric view. I'd rather this game to run at a smooth 30+ frames per second and still be able to bash zombie heads all over the place instead of alloting some of my graphical resources to useless bump mapping.

posted a message on Please, Blizzard, let there be a monthly fee.
MMOG's are P2P or RMT (Real Money Trading, free to play with cash shop items) because of its complex distributed server architecture. Diablo 3 is NOT an MMO and henceforth does not need financing for its simpler server architecture.

I don't mind dishing out several dollars every month to play this game but what I said above is why it's not going to be pay to play. There will still be anti-hacking/duping monitoring and frequent updates even in the absence of a monthly fee. Monthly fees do not keep out kids (they have parents as many in this thread have pointed out) and even if it did, there's 40 year olds that act very immature so the OP's first point is moot.

posted a message on Auction house, account bank and anti grind/rush?
Account bank is definitely a good idea. I remember having 8 accounts worth of mules at one point in D2. Auction house is welcome but not necessary. They do, however need an improvement in the trading system instead of mindlessly spamming in trade chat for an item you want and watch carefully for a whisper that can disappear from the screen in a mere second.

posted a message on Camera Rotation...
I believe having the camera in a strict isometric view is the consequence of the game engine. You will notice at some points of the gameplay video, the arches fade out when the character is underneath it and fade back in when the character walks away from it. Now, if you were to have a rotatable camera and still have those fade outs, you will need to ray trace to that segment of the wall to figure out if it needs to become transparent. Now if the camera was isometrically fixed, this fading in and out will only requiring knowing the character position, which is computationally much less expensive.

posted a message on More equipment slots?
Diablo 3 does not need a cloak slot. The previous games didn't emphasize the characters having a cloak and so should this game. And since there should be an even number of equipment slots (since it is split in half by the middle), the next unimportant equipment slot that doesn't need to be there are the bracers.
