posted a message on Reasons why PK should stay in D3. A detailed analysis (long)
    Quote from "etslayer" »
Neferim, I can't respond to every single reply. Even if I wanted to, I don't have time for that. I do my best to keep the discussion moving since I started it, so if I don't reply it's because I just don't have the time or you are not presenting any novel arguments.

Anyway, the reason your reply may have gone unanswered is because the answer to your question can be found in the original post.

As a player in a multiplayer PvP environment, it's your responsibility to avoid PKers. Once in a while a PKer will join your game and ruin it. True. No denying that. But they have every right to try and kill people in a public game, regardless of your intended goals for that game. As soon as a game is open to the public it is no longer "your" game. It is only yours if it is private. I would agree that PK would be unfair if a) all games were public B) if the game weren't a highly PvP oriented game. However D2 does not fall under either of those categories. I think this is a perfectly fair system, and D3 should adopt it.

I agree, sometimes the duel is over before it began because the PKer is stronger than you, so you just have to end up leaving the game or waiting it out. But just because someone can potentially be too strong for you does not mean they should be denied the ability to compete with you. Are you saying that PKing would be OK if the PKer is not very strong?

by the way, I'm done here for a little while... maybe i'll come back in a couple days and see how this is moving along.

I'm trying to understand what you're saying, but I just can't agree.

In DII, it took me eons to find a game which everybody actually cooperated as a team to conquer the game. No rushing, no trading, no lazy weak player that forces you to do all the work, but mutual cooperation. I pray that you may understand how rare this is.

And what happens then? A PKer marauds in, and KABLOOEY!
    GAME OVER MAN.
    Ugh.

Meh it was already broken, one person could load themselves to the brim with MF gear and the other all skill gear and then the MF geared person could get the last hit and they could both roll in the loot.

    Eh, true enough.
Now it's a lot simpler, even <seemingly> encouraged.

The average male of today couldn't break armour with a longsword unless he had physical training.

I do believe there are differences is men and women, however, women are not weaker or inferior. They are designed differently, but they can do many things far better to men.

A good case: Women actually make better pilots and better snipers on average than men. Fact.

Depends on the armor and the longsword.
Even a trained male can't break some armor with just a longsword. :cute:

Now, for the other side, women have the same mental capacity as men, period. There's no limiter to either gender's brain unless you're born mentally retarded.

I knew it was possible to have an IQ of infinitium! :D

Blizzard hasn't done us wrong yet because of all the people who complained during their alpha and betas. If you haven't been there trust me. A lot of complaining went on. And blizzard fixed a lot of crap that was complained about. Hence, why complaining now is a good plan.

Is that so? You've piqued both my curiosity and skepticism.
    A few examples?

I like the new additions. No more all male barbarians! :P Now I can make a male marksman too! Although, I could see mass contradiction if they implement amazons in D3 lol. Anyways, in response to the little side-topic:

Males are physically stronger and more durable, but you're only going to notice it a little bit when you're trying to set world records, not ordinary tasks like lifting heavy boxes. Female's slim bodies are better for speed and agility though, since she's not as weighed down by muscle mass though, but again, something you'll only notice when trying to set world records.

Males/females brain-to-body ratio is the same, so I oppose games that design males/females with differences in any 'intelligence,' or other attributes related to IQ or brain-power. When gender comparing, physical strength does not mutually exclude intelligence, that's speed and agility which suffers. (Bigger muscles mean more flexibility, but only so the big muscled person can do what they could before, not going from being unable to even put their hands over their head to being able to stare directly at their butt without a mirror, wouldn't that be fun? :D) huge muscles aren't going to help you dodge them demons who want to kill you.) I'd assume inherent differences in intelligence between genders (with females in the lead :P) is more related to brain structure, and, (of course) who that person is.

It's good Blizzard doesn't implement gender stat differences though, it benefits multiple types of players - both the people who are casual players and don't want to be bothered by power-playing, but also benefits the power players, since they have one less consideration to make when making their character Uber as possible.

Another thing I like about Blizzard's gender based choices - Only so often are the females suffering from Zelda Princess Syndrome (ZPS.) Although there are some females that really stand out, I.E., the NPC who brings the Iron Wolves to your disposal, but the opposition to that would be that she's living in a rain-forest, so forgetting to have some casual clothing back at home wouldn't exactly be practical.

    What?
    Is this a correct summary?
    Boys=stronger
    Girls=faster+smarter

    ?

posted a message on Diablo I in Diablo III
    Quote from "RAppel" »
So, I installed Diablo I a few days ago just for the heck of it. Apart from the no-run issue its hella fun :)

Made this thread to discuss what from Diablo I you would like to see in Diablo III. Even though its an old game there are several things that are absolutely brilliant :)

A few thinks I like from DI I wouldnt mind seeing in D3 (in the same or some altered form)

    1. You can see how many you killed of each type of monster

    2. You need to kill a certain amount to see what resistances/immunities (15 in DI) a certain type of monster has. Furthermore you need to kill atleast 30 to see what hit points they have.

    3. You can buy potions to increase you stats (the system need to be altered for DIII or else everyone would have insanely godly chars, but would give a nice twist so that everyone doesnt have the same chars (ZOMG I R TEH GAWDLEH HAMMAR!!1)

    4. Its creepy!

    5. Your statpoints has a limitation to how many points can be pumped into each stat. Seems reasonable... (no sorc with 500+ str/no ama with 500+ energy/no pala with 500+ energy etc.)

    6. The Butcher is freaking awesome! Get him (or his son) back in DIII :D

Cant remember more atm. Ill prolly add more later on :)

    3. If that happened in DII, it wouldn't be "ZOMG I R TEH GAWDLEH HAMMAR!!1", but instead "ZOMG I R TEH GADLEH HAMMAR WIT PERF GAWD STATS!1!!!!!!111!!"

Gotta love when people result to being a grammar nazi when people don't agree with them. You kind of for got something though, while you yell at him for his errors, you also spelled "youre" wrong. Along with "couldnt" because, last time I checked, apostrophes were needed.

In the end, a mailing system is stupid because all it takes is /w douchebag Hey, join game imadick/penis and help me transfer.

He didn't yell - THIS WOULD BE YELLING.
You spelled forgot as "for got", by the by.
Anyways, that problem can be rectified by limiting mail exclusively to mutual friends.
I don't understand why everybody is beating down on the OP. I see no reason not to implement a mailing system, though I ultimately don't care either way.
Also, @isobar: "Diablo III is foremost a cooperative" game. There is nothing more fun than smashing demons with friends." *Sorry, the quotes might be off by a bit, I don't remember the exact phrases* Multiplayer is a large part of DIII, and it would be misleading to say that it is merely "support" to a Single Player game.
edit: @wahakoox: You also forgot the "e". "Your" is a completely different word than "you're".
You don't have to be in english class for correct spelling to count. It makes you look smart.

There is a very good reason women did not participate in combat (often) in the middle ages and earlier--they were not nearly as capable.
Generally not as capable would me more accurate; not "nearly" as capable is just flat out wrong. While the physical potency of females is lower than that of males, the difference is slim at best.

Close combat, depite what you may be misinformed about is a very physically challenging activity and the average women would be rather handily bested by the average male.
    .

Yes, it's "very" physically challenging. However, women can do it. Yes, the "average woman" is less than the "average male". However, as aforementioned, the difference is slim at best.

I was originally for this, but have recently changed my mind. Screwing up, throwing a tantrum, then being forced to start anew is part of the game. Some things should change, but this should be prevalent. The game needs some outlet which players can fail at, and then - BAM - game over man.
