The specifics on the petition description is not entirely right but the main message from this is that fans saw something they were dissatisfied with and wanted it to be different. Whatever that is, not many people knew exactly. But there is something definitely awkward if such a great number of fans signed the petition.

This big "F U" in the face really staggered my opinion on this game. It seems I personally won't be as hopeful as I was so good for them and have fun making the game.

So pretty much they are just going to say: screw the fans. we're going to make it the very best and ignore 52,000 fans.

If they can just look pass their ego, maybe they can figure out what exactly ticks some fans off.

Personally, I thought the art direction could use work. Not necessarily saying the coloring is wrong. There's a variety of factors that makes the game lose its thematic appearance.

the big deal is loyal diablo fans want this game to be the very best. it looks cool. yeah. but it looks just as cool as wow or warhammer. giving feedback is good for any game in development. but it seems the new people working on diablo wont explore that. their new philosophy is just going revolve around happy

light radius was only a side thought. but now that i think about it, i think if there will be some light source from the player and some mysterious unknown for the player to fear, might not be something that bad as people may think.

it doesnt have to be radius, it doesn't have to be circular... but there should be some dark spots to give u a sense of unknowing. If there are environmental game devices, light sources such as fire, sun, whatever, can easily be used to emphasize that area more for the player to realize what to do. And I'm not talking about a thick darkness... maybe more faded until it is fully dark..

THe player can emit light, other light sources such as torches or magic can be used to light up some areas...

basically it wont be pitch black where you can see a thing.

really though, in a cathedral where is all the light coming from? you can see every dam monster 20 feet away. the game lacks a defined light source yea?

THey had 8 years. If it was so simple why didn't they do it... We all know diablo just got announced. we all know it is still in development. as fans, suggestions like these might help them get it instead of over-believing.

as you can see, the environment doesn't reflect the light from the witch doctor's firebombs. Or other skills for that matter.

it would be so cool if u have your light radius, (and it will be hard to see the monsters coming from the corner), so u throw a firebomb and they light up for a few sec screaming or something.

this would make the art more real... like every1 wants.

if you wanna play a game where you just click on monsters be my guest. i never played age of conan so cant really say much there...

andd... you dont really have to do cmobos. combos just help u survive and do more damage. u can be the lazy guy and spam spells all you want but it is probably not as proficient.

posted a message on D3 Combo System
With the new skill bar feature, combos would be very easy to pull off with those hotkeys.

Instead of just simly click and slash, a more complex combo system would provide players the ability to master timing, skill combinations, patterns, and movement. This would be great for intense PVP battles and boss battles. I'm aware in the current D3 trailer, there are combos... like the narrator says but I'm not quite sure how exactly to do combos in D3. Unless "combo" just means a chain of spells 1 after the other...

No.. I'm talking about combos u get from fighter games. Where flinching stops opponents from attacking if the right combination of keys are pressed.

I have played a mmo that emphasize on a complex combo system. The game itself is somewhat similar to the Diablo gameplay...

Here's the example of a combo system from another game:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBnW-34gEp8

Lunia is the name of this mmo... it introduces a number of classes with distinct skills and combos. Like Diablo, it does have a storyline. It goes through "stages." It has crazy boss fights. And you can all do that with a friend in a party of four in regular stages. Raid stages can go up to 8-12 players all fighting a boss.

Gameplay wise, it has 1-10 skills on one skill bar all can be hotkey'd. Of course there are more skills... And instead of clicking your mouse, you use the number pad for movement, up to 8 directional movement. This set up makes combos possible as you can see in the video.. but no, its not as easy as it looks. It is fast pace and if you mess up, you're pretty much vulnerable. The poeple you see in that video played the game for more than a year, perfecting their skills in pvp battles. I'm not saying Diablo should exactly be like that, but Diablo can have the same concept in terms of combos. Mouse clicks can go way further than the number pad because the direction you can face is more than 8.

And also, Diablo would probably look ridiculous with those air attacks... a more ground combo would seem fitting.

i want to ride a white Pegasus to defeat diablo. that would look so sweet.

imagine a huge white horse with wings, jumping 40 feet in the air and your char shoots silver arrows or something, and maybe a rainbow trails behind and some falling glitter. YES

posted a message on Diablo III Thoughts From Ex-Blizzard Employee
I thought the floating numbers were unnecessary. I don't want dam numbers popping up as I attack like those mmos. It's probably in your stat page.. but Like I care, I just want to see how much more hp is left before the monster is dead. And the block ... yeah.. could've just had special effects.

I don't know, I'm a loyal Diablo I, II fan and of course I feel very loyal to the original game creators. It's just in development, there's always that weasel that wants everything cool and snazzy without any understanding of authenticity and theme...

    Disappointing...

I don't really like the options for the survey...

Yeah, of course it looks great. It passes with flying colors! They did a nice job with it.

But the real question here is if Blizzard can make it better than how it is, would you want that?

I don't know about 'Gothic' looking or shades of gray... I agree that the art style doesn't have to be all gray without color... but the colors I'm seeing in the screenshots do not have that much contrast.

And yadda yadda, we know Diablo just got announced. We know Diablo is in its "early stages." We just want to give Blizzard feedback and hopefully they can make good ol' Diablo theme style again.

Diablo I, and II had a distinct feel from other games. If you ever played any fear-inducing games, they all follow similar tones of colors and art style. Realism in Diablo III seems kind of lacking. Old, dirty, ancient, worn away zombies/clothing/color/background/texture, believe it or not, look worn away... not colorful, if you get my drift. Diablo III looks sparkling clean, like everything just came out of the box.

I'd like to say again the environment really needs to reflect some of the dynamic lights in the game. Lighting needs more work on overall... because maybe thats the real reason why it looks so... desaturated for me. When the necro-like class throws the firebomb, the environment seems to not reflect any of that lighting at all... and it really subtracts from realism. hah.

posted a message on Φ Diablo III Art Design Direction Survey
I like Diablo I and Diablo II colors. The feeling I got from playing Diablo I is unlike any other game I played at the time. It was eerie, mysterious, and -- well, overall it felt like when I was a kid, sitting around a campfire telling scary stories to friends and family- that is what makes Diablo I and II so magical. The darkness, the burning, the flicker of the fire, it's all there.

I'm excited about the game and all, but the art direction seems a bit out-of-theme. Looking at it right now, I do agree it looks much like WoW with Starcraft II technology. Might as well call it Warcraft IV hah. Or Dungeon Siege with all that shiny weapon. (Never did like that WoW look)

point- Colors do affect mood and feelings... Art Class anyone? Even if they decide to add in happy colors, at least have some more contrast. The colors are dull, despite more colors than the previous games. I'm not talking about the skill special effects. (tone some of that down too... the barbarian was pretty much on fire with that fire axe).

The lighting is awkward too... firebombs from the necro-native class thing doesnt affect the environment. It would be totally cool if they made the environment reflect light from skills or whatnot. Yeah, and whats with the no light radius? People fear the unknown and having monsters fully appear 20 feet away seems boring.

I would like the Diablo game to stick more to the Diablo theme. That is, scary, dark, and... scary. We didnt wait8 years or so to be dissapointed!
