posted a message on Reasons why PK should stay in D3. A detailed analysis (long)
Pvp is a choice.. PK is not a choice. If you dont wanna PvP people who are clearly better you dont have to. If you dont wanna be PKd by people who are clearly better then your really S*** outta luck. And that sort of "evil" game play is fun and should be part of this kind of game environment. However.. there are ways to balace the PKing more.. like lvl restrictions and perhaps even weakening higher lvls a certain percentage relative to to how many levels lower someone is when said higher lvl is PKing that person.
Its how PK is and always has been in this game. If you don't like it then im sorry for you.. but its always been part of this game. (Even though you guys on the side of no PKing are most likely gonna win this argument it seems... in which case im sorry for me and those like me).

It was intended as both obviously... both previous diablos had the ability to PK and PvP so how can you make the argument that it is not intended as a PvP game and that pvp has no place in a leveling game? That argument makes zero sense when PK/PvP was obviously a large part of both previous games in this series.

This is one of those games that is so replayable that even when PKd and the current game you are in is "ruined".. its not necessarily hard to do it again. WHat I enjoy about PKing and being Pkd is just added unpredictability it adds to the game. From a PKr mindset its just fun to see how many people you can take on and to be the "bad guy". Remember, there is supposed to be pure evil in this world... why should that stop at the mobs. Why can't a player play the role of "evil". If you don't like PKing.. get stronger so you can kill the PKs. It shouldn't be too hard without Hacking and if a lvl restriction is put in place.

Well.. im not talking about spamming trash talk and racial slurs.. im talking about PKing which has always been part of the diablo series. Its an instanced game which you can leave and create at will so PK won't ruin anyones enjoyment, it will only add to the unpredictability of the game.
As for my statement on feelings.. your "feelings" should not be attached to whether or not your killed by another player in game. Sure you might get a little annoyed fro a couple of minutes.. but you just do whatever you were doing again.
Or we can just all play the game through and try to remove any possibility of failure as to have the most "enjoyable" experience.

Personally, I never PKd that much.. I pvpd alot, but not Pkd. However, i did see alot of PKs, but it never effected my gameplay or experience to the point that I wanted it completely out of the game. I feel that it enriched my experience of D2. If your goal is to create a dark and dangerous environment.. what a better way then to add in a feeling of deviousness and evil then not being able to completely trust those who you've been fighting with for the whole game.

I don't like the idea of a repeatable quest for this simply because it is not in tune with the game. You not supposed to be able to constantly change your spec in diablo. You built a char and you should stick with it. They make this game very repeatable so you can try out as many different builds as you want. There should be some imperitive to build your class correctly instead of leniency to mess up. Not only is this in tune with diablo but it also helps weed out the not as smart players. This game is as heavily reliant on the correct build as it is the gear.

i havn't read your whole novel because im at work and stuff... but i just have to say that i agree with any pro-PK posts...

"Surely the solution would be to set up an alternative style of game, called something like "Hunter" where you try to hunt down chartacters...
But forcing up to 7 other non-consenting players to play your game is just absurd...
Where is your ability to consider other peoples feelings? "

This is a game based on blood and murder. Feelings? WHo asked you about your feelings?

I mean obviously your not gonna get PKd every single game you enter.. not even for the majority of them. But having the fear in the back of your head that eventually you WILL BE PKd.. even in areas where you really really dont wanna be.. makes the game that much more unpredictable and fun.

posted a message on Respec and Health Globes on Diablo III
I posted this as a reply to a different thread but im not sure how much attention its gonna get there so I wanted to put this idea where it will be mroe visible and get more feedback.

I think a good way to handle Respecing in Diablo 3 would be to make a complete respec availible Via an optional quest in the final act of each difficulty.

The would mean you have 3 respecs per char. Thats a good amount of respecs to make sure you have you spec correct and havn't wasted any points. Or to even just completely change your spec.

Other then avoiding the occasional misplacement of a point or the limited ability to completely change your spec, i think its sort of trademark of diablo now to have your char locked to his spec. After all... if we think about this from a lore point of view.. these warriors learn their talents through countless years of practice and learning. Battles and bruises. You can't just unlearn your skills. Lets keep it as true to real life as we can in the areas which we can.

    *edit*
another quick idea... i was also thinking as further incentive to use these 3 respecs an extra skill point can be awarded for completeing them. This would promote the idea of commiting to a spec because you will get those extra 3 points if you use them all and lock yourself. Sure your char will be locked down, but he will be a tiny bit mroe powerful then if he weren't.

I dont know if this was already said because i didn't read the whole post but...

I think a good way to handle respecs for diablo would be an optional quest in the last act (in each difficulty as well) that when completed gives you the option to completely respec or just move some points around.. basically gives you control over your points to move each one once whereever you want it.

Kind of like the ancients for an extra exp boost.

That would result in a limit of 3 respecs per char... meaning you have some room to mess up, but you better know what you want by your final respec =)

I think a simple kill counter with possibilty of sub-counting different monster and player kills would be nice. Also with possibilty of ascethetic badges you can earn for certain accomplishments. These badges should be extremely difficult to get though.

Its getting kind of annoying that the admins on this site are really overly strict some times. I've made 2 threads, both of which had legititmate questions followed by a slightly, but not too innapropriate joke and both were deleted. This is a mature game and both jokes were definitly not too innapropriate for mature users. Please stop deleting posts because they have a rnadom joke in it... this is a diablo discussion forum, we are allowed to talk amongst ourselves without admins deleting it because something might stray a little bit from game talk.

    P.S.
I wonder how long until this post is deleted.

I have 2 questions I would like to talk about... or get an answer to if anyone has one.

    1) Will the mode of transportation be the same? I.E.: Waypoints to different zones of different acts.

    2) Will there be any form of butt-seks?

Nice! So im not alone in my constant google searches to find any new info i can on D3. My obsessive replays of the gameplay vid. My masterbation with a noose around my neck and a diablo action-figure on my desk infront of me. My re-reading of the game lore.

And its still a year or more away... why did they do this to us.

We all remember it from D1 / 2. Now its on trhe D3 webpage.

I bet devs have a click count somewhere and know exactly how many times we have all clicked that damned useless button. They are having a good laugh over it right now even.
