    posted a message on I don't like the Witch-Doctor
Most of the classes in D2 were broken and overlapped.
Druid and Necro overlapped. Paladin and Barbarian overlapped. Assassin and Amazon overlapped. Sure, they could've brought back all the same classes and just removed all the abilities from them while calling them the same thing and then you'd be making threads complaining about that, but they decided to take the high road and develop a new set of classes while bringing back those that were especially interesting for their abilities. You may whine about why the Barbarian is back in Diablo 3, but if you know the background the Barbarian is the only class now to have been in all 3 Diablo games, though as a prototype class in the first.

So basically they're trying to make classes unique to themselves rather than ones that step on eachothers' toes. Classes with skill sets that allow no definite cookie-cutter builds.

Why didn't they simply use color as more of an emotion and left all that pastel crap out? Pfft.
Because they were trying to go for a living world rather than employing a visual style that would make it so anyone living in the world would likely commit suicide well before the game ever began?

It's about the feeling and the atmosphere.

Good job misunderstanding the 30 000 people who signed that petition.
The 30,000 people signing that petition want a variety of things, not just what the petition states.

The majority probably feel it's just to darken the environments and sign it without trying to read or understand due to the misdirection used to propagate it, but the petition itself and a minority of people want them to restart Diablo 3 from scratch, destroying all the resources and making it into a hyper-realistic bore like every shill game that's tried to imitate and copy Diablo for the past 11 years.

Just like the cake, the petition is a lie.

posted a message on Art Style -- A major distinction most are missing.
The big laugh in all of this is that a lot of notable developers are backing Blizzard on this one, while the general Diablo fan base is getting the same reputation as that of the Fallout fan base.

You want to know what that reputation is? It's something relative to this.

I admit that the physical differences are there and such, just couldn't help but to comment on the obvious similarities. D3 has come a long way. :)

posted a message on Evolution of a Franchise
I decided to make a more seriously minded thread on the evolution of the franchise than the majority that has been showing up. Rather than harping on the graphics like so many seem to bandwagon on to, I'd like to point out something that may have potentially been missed in the oversight of the details.

In Act 5 of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, you have a creature which was known as the Siege Beast. It was a large creature, though it was limited by the game itself. So, why am I bringing them up? Well, haven't you figured it out yet?

Yes, I do believe there's been a reemergance of one of the old(and larger) creatures of the franchise. Discuss. :)

Also, Barbarian tossed in for good measure.

Do not fall victim to troll bait, its the main tactic to try and discredit valid arguments.
There is no valid argument against the current version, as they haven't even showed us the game itself beyond a demo. You know what there is an valid argument for? The artistic ignorance of the community at mass. Just because you're not of the mind to understand and appreciate the depth and connotations of an artistic style, to whine unceasingly about an ever-changing and protean gripe, to change the terms used and try to be clever. Well, let me let you in on a wee bit of a secret. In all this complaining, this demand for them to destroy the entire game and remove all resources, this demand to sexualize women in a chauvanistic fashion...

...have half of you idiots actually /read/ what that petition you're all signing states, or what the guy who started it has said in regard to race and gender? Or are you all jumping on simply due to one issue without even reading it? The petition isn't to make the game darker. It's to try and get Blizzard to dissemble everything they've done in the past four years and START OVER.

People talk about /Americans/ being stupid. How do you think Bush got into office?

Seriously I'd rather have the D2 pvp model not some pussified pvp zones.. no offense to all those that want it, but come on, you could just run in one of the zones go haha hit me, than run out heal up and fight again. If they do this, I swear to god I'm starting a petition.

Exactly. I don't know why people are all going "it's just like WoW". I mean, I can see where they're coming from, but it's a stupid point to make. I think if no one ever said that, they would be taking alot more seriously.

Anyway, I don't know what to think of the art direction right now, but I do know I don't like the huge pauldrons.
They're exaggerated on the Barbarian alone, I believe. Neck protection and intimidation.
