I think "Titles" would be a better implementation. Similar to Tabula Rasa's "Targets of Opportunity Quests", Diablo 3 could employ a system that will award your character different titles when each mark is achieved.

I think that would be a great way to add diversity.
People seemed actually turned off by titles. They wanted some visible addition to their character, like a pelt for killing enough animal type monsters.

Well either way, there are new people on the forums and so I'm sure we will see some fresh ideas. Feel free to contribute :)

This is a take-off of my previous thread about class-specific items. Some of the posters thought that adding trophies to the game would add to the customization of your character and encourage accomplishments (i.e. kill X monsters to receive Y trophy). The trophies would be visible to other players but wouldn't add to stats or skills, but act more as bragging rights. Think Xbox 360 accomplishments.

How do you guys feel about this idea?

True enough, I wasn't playing the game too strategically. I could have leveled a little before trying him I guess, but I just sucked that fight. I opened a portal expecting my minions to die again (I had resummoned them about 3 time and Duriel was at half health) but he got infront of the portal and I couldn't get back so I tried to kite him away from the portal but he got me =(

Duriel just did unreal damage. I tried amplify damage and life tap, but in retrospect Iron Maiden might have been more effective. Not sure if I'm motivated enough to start over.

I love the trophy idea as well. Just something that could add to the uniqueness of each player. Great suggestions!

Level 18 summonmancer. Killed by Duriel after minions died. =(

    R.I.P.
    You will be missed

For the record, I've played since D1 without trying a HC char till yesterday

Except people who know there history... As for the typical person your speaking of, it's obviously Americans, (And I take no joy in saying this, as I love my country, but...) but Americans are, for all intensive purposes, idiots, and half the time don't know how to spell the name of the teacher there banging...
    Yikes, yee of little faith.

World of Warcraft has swords and bows, so Diablo 3 should get rid of swords and bows! Sign my petition to get rid of swords and bows in Diablo 3!
It was a joke, what the hell are smily faces good for anyways?

There were no rifles back then. Hand cannons would simply have balls instead of arrows/bolts. You could imbue the hand cannon with a topaz and boom you have something that fires electric, heavy, round projectiles. In terms of practicality, not much different from a sorceress.
It seems too modern though. Obviously there is no correlation between Sanctuary's timeline and ours, but the game gives off a medieval vibe and people don't typically relate guns with that place in time. Not to mention that Warcraft has that covered. But I argue for too many WoW 'improvements' to play that card :)

Do you mean something that would be pure vanity? Or just elaborate on the old each class has its own class only armor to wear?
It would be more useful if it added an effect, but if it had an aesthetic representation, that might actually be cooler because people wouldn't all choose the same item because it has the uber stats, but choose the one they think looks or sounds the coolest.

Hmmm, if this is the case, is that not the same thing we had with the previous two titles?
It is, but I think they were just highlighting the return of it rather than trying to hype it. I personally think that if it says 'leather' in the name, it should be brown and leather-like. Just my two cents.

This is besides the class-specific items that each class already had in D2. (targe, javs, etc.)

I think that it would add a lot to the personality of each class. The Witch Doctor could have a voodoo charm or something along those lines, and the Barbarian could hold pieces of prized kills (i.e. tusks, pelts, etc.). These are just examples.

How do you guys feel about giving them something a little more class-specific?
