I don't remember exactly where I read it, but I do remember reading that Samuel specifically requested a color no one else was using so he would stand out in big battles and be more memorable. :offtopic:

It's the same Barbarian from Diablo II.

My point was that this was the Barbarian from the Diablo III time line, as in 20 years later. I know that he is the same from Diablo II, but I meant that this is him 20 years later, having conquered Diablo, not a "flashback" as was previously suggested.

"We could drop health orbs at some percentages of the creature's overall life and that's what we do with rares and champions, actually. So those guys (a sort of mini-bosses) get a chance to drop health orbs, when you're fighting them."

Jesus christ, the more i read from this guy the more it sounds like hes doing his OWN PERSONAL game with everything HE likes...Just because he doesnt like health potions, doesnt mean that the majority agrees with him and that he has the right to totally destroy something that was very important to the Diablo 2's combat. Im still in shock...at first i supported this dude...but this is too much. ITS NOT YOUR GAME JAY STOP MAKING PERSONAL DECISIONS.

Hmm, that's odd. I see him use "we" a few times in this quote in regards to decision making, but I don't see "I" used anywhere...

I wouldn't call chugging potions an important part of combat either. More like a broken part of combat. That was easily the worst healing system I've seen in any game I've played. Period. I like the ideas of potions being more of an "oh shit" sort of item used when the health orbs just won't cut it.

Uh.. I thought that sculpture was supposed to represent the Barbarian owning Diablo at the end of D3.

It is the Barbarian from Diablo 3. You can tell by the fact that he is old and has more hair, as the Barbarian does in this latest game.

I think we can imply by the fact that he said "...and the two or three hundred others who think like you..." that he wasn't speaking about the fan base as a whole but rather the very small group of hardcore whiners.

The Hammer of the Ancients ability is probably not going to be a spammable one (in the same sense as sorceress skills from Diablo II such as frozen orb). It is probably going to be on a longer cool down and used once in a while to clear large areas of mobs in front of you if you get swarmed or to deal a heavy hit to a boss. That being the case, I have no problem with him having a sort of mystical ability. It's not like he's going to go around hammering the shit out of stuff like the hammer from Super Smash Bros where he can just keep casting and casting. It wouldn't surprise me if it was more of an "oh shit" ability.

How can you guys think this is so outrageous? If you did a little research, you would find out that Blizzard has already done this for World of Warcraft (it's called the Blizzard Authenticator).

Wasn't the 7 deadly sins based off of some major religion that exists in our world? I could've sworn....

Honestly, I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic. If you weren't, to answer your question, yes the seven deadly sins began as an early Christian teaching.

    WTF? PURPLE?
    fuck that

Keep it like diablo 2 or a little different

Its better having it an exact copy of diablo 2 than to have random green, red, purple, yellow and blue items

Anything but gay colors, come on

maybe a brownish red can be introduced

Well, let's see, all of the colors you just listed off besides purple are what they had in D2 (red were broken items and quest items from difficulties other than the one you were in), so I would hardly call them random. And aside from the ignorance in using "gay" as an adjective, is the color of the items really that big of a deal? All that the different colors serve to do is allow us to differentiate between the different classes of items. Who really cares what colors they pick.

posted a message on Reasons why PK should stay in D3. A detailed analysis (long)
Honestly, while I built my guys to PvP specifications on the off-chance I did PvP, I almost NEVER did it in Diablo II. I pretty much always just leveled up a bunch of guys and did gear runs or trading. That is what was fun for me. I never thought of Diablo II as a PvP game, just a PvE game with a smaller PvP aspect (similar to other MMOs like WoW or City of Heroes or something). In fact, I thought PvP in Diablo II was overall pretty crappy. PKing isn't competitive in nature because competition implies people competing against each other on a more or less even playing field, not one guy 70 levels above another killing someone 4 times in a row for shits and giggles. Even when I got into a game where I could compete against those around my level, there was also such a disparity between my legit gear and their duped uber rune word stuff that I would get my ass stomped. Hell, even when I had great gear I still managed to get destroyed, and it never even felt like a competition. They reveals more of an issue with duping and equipment than the PvP itself, however.

PKing annoying the hell out of me, and the few times I did it, I felt awesome for about a minute, then felt like an ass. PKing is worthless and I will be glad to see it gone. I don't mind some sort of mutual PvP system, and would actually prefer it in case I end up enjoying it more, but PKing has no place in the game.

posted a message on Diablo III Producer Justifies Controversial Art Direction: Color Is Your Friend
I didn't read most of this thread, so I apologize if this has been suggested, but I was kind of thinking that one reason that the gameplay video seemed much brighter than Diablo II may have led us to believe (aside from it being early in development), is that perhaps they just had everything set bright in the video so people could get a good look at everything going on. While it may have been creepier or had a more "classic" feel if darker (with the light radius and what have you), it would have made it more difficult for people watching the video to get a good look at everything in the level, the character/monsters, etc.

W4 have nothing to do with WoW - since they are far different games, having almost nothing in common.
    W4 is just not-so-wished, and i think it's postponed for late 2009.
Anyway here is my list with releases dates , that i try to predict :

    Starcraft 2 : Christmas 2008
    Diablo 3 : Christmas 2008
    Starctaft Ghost : Summer 2009
    Warcraft 4 : Christmas 2009

1 years post dev period ...
    Diablo 3 ( expansion ) : summer 2010
    Starcraft 2 ( expansion ) : late 2010
    Warcraft 4 ( expansion ) : summer 2011

Man, I hope you are right about the SC2 and D3 release dates. SC2 I could see being this year. I don't think D3 will be this year (wouldn't surprise me if it was Christmas 2009), but if it is, that'd be sweet.

They have the other characters PLAYABLE at the office if you watched the Interviews and panels you would know.

The game is FAR ALONG according to the Dev's.

I haven't watched the interviews or panels to be honest, so I was basing that on what I knew. I don't agree on it being out by Christmas, but I will say perhaps it is further than 40%.
