posted a message on Hmm what about Each boss own weapon
I'd like if they changed it so certain items (using D2 for examples) like a Windforce wouldn't only be obtainable from Baal and Pindle. I'd like it to maybe have a chance anywhere in A5 hells, but obviously as a much lower drop % on easy mobs compared to bosses.

I'd love to see the return of mercs, but I'd hope that the AI was a bit improved. I'd like if he became defensive when he had low hp and backed away from mobs.

They were a nice utility to accompany your class. I like using cold mercs with my fire/light sorc.

I love the idea of quests mercs you need to keep alive and temporary help mercs on quests.

I hope Blizz keeps ninjas etc away from D3. We don't need a class that every young person will overplay (I know some people legitimately play them as well). I just don't want to deal with that in another game.

    I am caucASIAN.

posted a message on A change I think they will implement for D3
I think that making them rather hard and planning on the bosses still being reasonably hard later could cause problems with other acts. If Andy is rather tough so I continue to level and such so I can beat her, won't Act 2 then be complete cake until I get to Baal?

I don't know how A2 could be reasonably difficult without making bosses to easy when you do go back to them later on unless they were just easier the first time for some reason.

posted a message on Φ Classes we want to see in DIII
Well first off, I think Blizz realizes that there must be some basics that must be included. You will have a pure melee and a pure caster ie barb and sorc respectively.

I think we can also assume that there is a ranged melee class or it will be a major part of a class.

Blizz has also spoken of trying to make everything seem new and mixing up classes a bit. I think we won't see the necro brought back in the same form, but the class will probably be split into other classes. One of them is the WD (Witch Doctor) who seems to utilize the new and improved bonewall/firewall combination of zombie wall. The WD also has summoned pets which does sort of take the roles of Druid/Necro summons.

The only part of the Necro left really is curses and raising the dead. I can see Blizz combining these aspects of the Necro with the basic paladin concept.

My only problem is trying to predict where Blizz will incorporate a shapeshifter, if they even do before an expansion.

    Barbarian - pure melee
    Magus - pure caster
Hunter (Ranger) - ranged physical, traps, maybe pets/shift, Assn/Amazon/Druid combo
Knight - Paladin/Necro combination of sorts. Trying to keep the name faction neutral was hard)
    Witch Doctor - summoner/caster, Necro/Druid Combo

The Necro/Druid are split up over multiple classes. The Hunter type class incorporates a large portion of the zon/assn where the Druid/Necro are spread around more thinly.

Further now, I'll make a guess at some skill trees.

    Barb
    -Shouts
-Passives (weapon specs, maybe weapon enhancements/enchants, resistances etc)
-Combat (different attack styles like WW)

    WD
    -nature magic (poison, fire, locust)
    -summons
-dark magic (maybe? I couldn't think of much for a third)

    Hunter
    -pets/pet buff
    -ranged/melee attacks
    -traps/passives

    Magus
    -fire/wind
    -Ice/water
    -light/earth
(I figure they'll try to mix it up so its not the same old same old. Maybe you would use ice after a water spell for increased effectiveness, I don't know. The trees will include utlility in each like an earthen armor, wind knockback, and ice prison etc)

    Knight
    -auras/curses
    -combat
-holy (damage mitigation, light spells, target buffs, undead damage, shield buffs)

I'll admit, I'm not very well read on Diablo lore. I did play D1 for a bit, and D2 for a long time.

posted a message on Blizzard needs to implement at least a BoE or BoP system (Bind on Equip or Pick-up).
How will BoE and possibly BoP effect muling? What if my character does have an array of items that they use, say a pvp set, a leveling set, and a mf set (for arguments sake since we dont know if mf will exist). Would I be able to store these on mules and they just can't equip them?

I hope they just allow you to store masses and masses of items in your chest or something similar.

posted a message on Gear reqs depending on gear stats
This is taken from Be_the_Rowdy on the official D3 Blizz forums.

I would just like to know what you guys think. I agree with him that using say +str from items to equip other items was pretty stupid and time consuming to figure out. I had to know what I planned to have later on if I didn't have all the items at the moment.

"Or: Stat Requirements and Why I Hate 'Em

They say the developers read these boards sometimes. I'm not sure what to think about that. We generate as much drivel here as we do productive discussion, and I imagine less than a quarter of our productive discussions broach topics that haven't already been covered internally by the developers. Nonetheless, I figured I'd post my all time biggest complaint about Diablo II in hopes of garnering support and seeing the problem corrected in Diablo III.

First, I'd like to say that I'm a long time fan of the Diablo series, and I respect the fact that Diablo II remains a defining piece of the action RPG genre nearly a decade after its release, all because Blizzard did so many things right with the game.

But here's what I think they did wrong.

A freeform stat point system is great for character customization, and challenging endgame content is great for challenging endgame content. But when the one affects the other in such a way that hard stat points can't be spared to meet equipment requirements without assistance from gear, it creates a scenario in which gear is dependent on gear. Reaching that 200 strength requirement for the best piece of armor in the game or maintaining a 75% chance to block with a shield that you may not even have yet simply can't be done without destroying your health bar in the upper difficulty levels. That is, unless you rely on strength and dexterity bonuses from equipment.

Doing this, however, demands that you know what your equipment requirements will ultimately be, and how far your equipment will go to cover them. Essentially, in order to successfully distribute stat points now, you need to know what your ideal gear set will be later. For a new player approaching a new class, this means spending hours researching the entire catalogue of items, perhaps without even knowing what you're looking for.

That's a lot of overhead for a game with such a strong spirit of "pick up and play."

What do you do when you're level 57 and you realize you picked the wrong gear set to focus on? How do you fix your misspent stat points without rerolling the character entirely? What do you do if you only play single player and your odds of actually obtaining even one piece of your ideal armor set are nearly impossible? Are you to be eternally stuck with inadequate stats across the board just because the drop rates were designed around a large-scale trading economy? Or if you do go online, how do you participate in that economy when your character is still too weak to generate any loot worth trading?

These aren't unsolvable problems. Obviously, there are tons of successful Diablo II players who have learned to deal with tough equipment requirements. But it's an important issue of accessibility, one which has kept me personally from enjoying fully half the classes and specs in the game despite years of loyalty. As the Diablo III trailer itself so eloquently put it, nothing should stand between you and whatever it is you want to smash. Stat tweaking and loot hording are half the point of the game, yes, but they should follow basic gameplay in my opinion, not precede it. It's a frustratingly simple problem that could be solved by utilizing a different (perhaps class-based?) system to determine what loot a player can or cannot wear.

I'm excited about Diablo III, but I hope half my time playing the game won't be spent worrying about how to play the game, as it was the last time around."

After seeing the preceding pre-order for Diablo 3 and others for Starcraft 2 and WOTLK I sent the following email to Gameplay:

    "Sent: 30 June 2008 22:41

Hi, I was wondering how information regarding the release date of Diablo 3,
Starcraft 2, and World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion Wrath of the Lich
    King was received.

Is this just speculation or is this confirmed and if so by who?"

At 4:59pm today I received this reply:

    "Hi there,

    Thank you for your email.

All the information on our site is confirmed by the publishers, however all
dates and prices are subject to change.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Yours Sincerely

    Jo
    Gameplay Crew"

Typical generic response. Of course the dates will change, they're just fighting for your reserve money now before others get it.

Try asking them if they have Battletoads in stock...

I will try out each class like i know everyone else will but...

I hope they make a pure caster. Which of course they will. I just hope they make the caster have all sorts of abilities unlike D2 where you were essentially one element and then you had to be two with immunes. I'd like to see a utility tree or utilities mixed in like teleport or knockback or other stuff that I'd rather surprise me.

If having multiple bots is still as easy as in D2, BoE and BoP will be useless.

I'm betting they've tried accounting for that although, the scammers get smarter as Blizz gets smarter.

Was it just me.. or does it look like we actually have more of a challenge, and not being able to solo everything.

Im not sure if it was just my eyes, but did the boss pick up one of the people and crush them, killed them and were no longer seen after that?

and DAYYYM i love the physics in this game, lucky ive just brought a new processor :) and my 8800gt is going to fly through this game.

Because D3 will be a solo game as well they must make everything soloable.

I do hope they make it harder as you suggest though. Maybe they could encourage groupings by making the monster something like 90% tougher than the original with every person grouped. This was 2 people would be fighting a monster almost twice as hard but not quite. Assuming only in hp. If his damage went up... he'd kick all our asses.
