You have got to understand that you comparision of 100-200 people not dictating the best way a game looks to the majority can easily be equated to the 200-300 people making the game, right?

The purpose of this thread is to get one large representation of what diablofans.com users like. We have a large fan base and it appears to grow each day. We're even listed on diablo3.com.

As I stated in the OP, if this thread takes off, Blizzard may make note of it. I feel as though I can assure you they will take the results and use them to make an informed decision (taking into account the number of voters vs the number of potential consumers).

60 votes isn't booming with solid evidence to support that ALL of diablofans is involved. For every thread you make about how terrible the art is, theres 50 people who don't look at the population numbers looking at the forums and the website on a whole and use LOGIC. Also this is the what? Fourth 'Official' thread which throws out all your credibility to trying to make a professional stand against the company and people who have been working on the game for around 5 years.

They know that your still going to beg the cashier to take your precious money for the game on release and the current art style appeals to a wider audience not just the emo's, they'll leave the art where it is because it's what the main demographic of gaming enjoys right now. Complain all your want but it's not changing much at all.

I'm also pretty sure blizzard didn't realise these forums would be like they are now after they announced it or they probably wouldn't have linked to the site from d3.com look at how 99% of the people complaining about the art are acting, telling blizzard to get fucked becuase of the art? Geeze.

Also take note, that people look at this thread and facepalm over the fact it's "another" one of those threads, I'm surprised the amount of people coming in here to say they like it now is as high as it is. Something that appeals to you, will grab your attention and it'll only grab a tiny portion of people who it's not related to ie : people who enjoy the current art style barely come in here yet the votes remain almost very similar.

You'll find that it's not really the age demographic which means they'll act immature. There are plently, more than you'd realise who are in their 20's and act like they are 12. Trying to keep underaged people out isn't going to solve anything.

And then look at wow, you can't really say that's updated frequently (with meaningful updates) from the end of black temple you had over a whole year before sunwell opened, a whole YEAR for a dungeon and your playing to pay, if you think you'd get quests every week you sorely mistaken how this p2p method works. You get some content every now and again, but it's far from frequent.

"You know if you look at Diablo I and II, they're very uhm. I mean..they obviously have the, the gothic look to it. but you know we weren't, really weren't...uh...they weren't very colorful games...and... and one of the challenges we wanted to take with d3 was; could we add color but still maintain that gothic dark feel? You cuz I...I think uhhh, we wanna take more of a dark as an emotion rather than actual color or art choice and I think that's something that uhm you know took a long time to get to the point where we're at now. Like, we've probly gone through at least three different pretty major art direction shifts until we got to the point we were at on stage cuz, I think it's really difficult to be able to pull that off, but...we're really happy with the look of the game now."

reality check people, making yet another thread about this just makes you look like whining babies. 41471894 threads from a total of 100-200 people shouldn't dictate what millions will see in the end. Get over it and go outside until you've seen more than a staged demo meant to show off the game mechanics.

I'm glad theres actually people out there who like it, I just really hope they don't revise the looks but if they do what they did for sc2, I mean look at those early shots compared to the current released screen shots now it looks like an entirely different style game. I'm not adversed to different looks if they decide to go down that route but I do enjoy the current iteration of them. Starcraft 2 tells me they will change a lot in the coming weeks/months. Can't wait to see the next build.

I guess this thread is to really tell the devs, if they are silly enough to look here at these forums for reference of making their great game that not everyone is a hater of what they've seen so far. I'm just kind of tired of all the abuse that the people defending how terrible d3 looks over their precious d2.

I really loved d1, d2 for all it's worth but I'm really glad they've brang the franchise back at all, with all these ungrateful people abusing them and telling others to fuck off and die for not agreeing with them also.

I really enjoy the way the artwork has headed, especially with the comment about the darkness being portrayed through the emotion of the characters. It'll definatly make for an immersive game and show people that to have a dark atmosphere you don't needed a grey pallete to work off.

So if your enjoying what you've seen and your happy what that they have finally decided to announce it. Post here, for every hater I'm sure theres people who enjoy what they've seen like myself.

I really like the way the artwork has headed, I don't believe it's like wow. Colour doesn't mean it's wow it means you have a more living breathing enviroment to play in and makes it a lot more immersive. 20 years after the three primal evils have been killed and what not, will definatly lighten the mood of the game in some area's and I really loved that outside look that was presented in the second half of the footage. It's been a long time since I've seen isometric graphics done so great.

I might miss the necro a little bit, but I think his WD counterpart will fill all that he has left to fill and more. He definatly has a fresh approach on pets which to me is a good thing, I played too many necro's on bnet! Now I have another summoning class I can enjoy equally if not more by the initial looks of things :D

And if your going to come here and tell us you have the right to your opinion about D3 being so terrible / not what you personaly wanted. Don't because, you can have your opinion and we can have ours.

WoW is not a very well thought out game, so GTFO.

it's people like you, which make me say yes to abortion. I do love diablo and haven't played wow for a VERY long time, because it is flawed. So was diablo 2, it was flawed and it's getting innovated and brang upto the industry standards of 2008/2009.

It's people like you which can't possibly be true diablo fans, because your clearly not old enough to have been around for them and if you have. Please never have children.

So now I have to click and run over to a health orb instead of just pushing a button? What was wrong with pushing a button, just put a hotkey on the keyboard instead of the numbers since thats what they want to use skills for. The space bar? How about the space bar its big and everyone can use it.

please adress all the other points as well beside taking a single one, which can be retorted with a snide remark. Trust people to ignore the logical ones.

You can push a button WHENVER you want, even when there is no orb on the floor. There has to be an orb there for you to walk over and get it. not have 99 potions and spam away while you stand in fire and never die.

posted a message on Φ Graphics Discussion (New art style proposal to Blizzard)
don't play the game if it's not to your liking, they've only gone out and announced your holy grail. It's been seven years since lod came out, which hardly set the setting for the epic tales. Sure there could've been more cobwebs for your immersion in the dungeon and a whole lot darker but when your showcasing your game to millions of people, who would you rather alienate 0.1% of viewers who take the tetris inventory as the holy grail and complain about stream lining the inventory as well telling blizzard to "fuck off" about how dark a game is. If your so grown up why can't you get over a simple artistic direction of a game and actually look at how it plays rather than the eye candy while appreciating the games deeper themes as dark. Colour doesn't mean it's not dark, if you think so.. wow you've got a lot to learn.

Call it a wow clone if you want, but wow sells to 10+ million players if theres a hint of that in there. Would you really blame them? 99% of the posts in this forum act like they stole from your mother and left her for dead in a ditch as blizzard make away with a bloody knife and her purse.

Oh the armor is looking to good, I guess you'll be the one complaining when you look like a total badass at 99 while others run around is pathetic brown leather armor. Look at conan and tell me that's what you want, look at that art direction they took it places where I think it's where a lot of you think it should've been. It doesn't appeal, it has no mass appeal.

if you've bothered to read the interviews as their is countless of them now, they say they will remain loyal to it's initial fanbase which includes me as I remember playing diablo for countless hours even with all the hackers online. I feel pretty shamed to be apart of such an old gaming community considering a lot of you should be grown up to talk about this in a more civilised fashion instead of saying FUCK YOU BLIZZARD like they've violated your holy grail. It's THEIR holy grail, you were given the chance to tag a long for the ride. They GAVE you EVERYTHING you played in D2 and now you lose faith, after waiting all these years I figured at least a few more people would've been level headed you see less than 1% of the game and spit in their direction. Unacceptable.

I hope they keep the art direction exactly where it is now, look at spawn for instance a very sucessful style of dark is portrayed through actions and emotions. Which D3 is actually trying to bring in, the enviroment can have colour in it while still make the story very dark and the characters compelling and isolated at the same time still being in colour. They said countless times, the darkness is portrayed through the emotion but you jump all over them without even listening to what they have to say. Trust the people who brang you so many hours of enjoyment and perhaps wait to see more of the game before throwing a nerdrage on the keyboard on the forums.

I honestly can't see the real reason why people would complain about wanting to move forward, it's been a long long time since d2 was released and since then the industry has made LEAPS and BOUNDS in interface. Playing tetris with your inventory might be fun for some who remember d2 through nostalgia glasses, I loved d2 and played it more than I'm willing to admit but this thread shows that people just want d2 again. D2 had it's flaws, the top top top game it was, has flaws.. No game is perfect.

Go ahead and call me not a true diablo fan for not selling my soul for the cluttered inventory idea. Come up with a constructive game stand point of view on why the tetris inventory is superior over a stream-lined more user friendly, less pain system.

You say it won't be the same game. Spot on, it's called DIABLO THREE, not DIABLO TWO you are actually proving the point on why people want innovation. IT IS A NEW GAME! It will have new idea's and new features. Maybe it was your idea of a fun time playing tetris, but for more than you'd like to admit it was a chore. I'd rather be out there killing more bosses for items rather than playing tetris over my 2-3 accounts full of uniques. You may not like it, but it's not changing back for a myriad of ways.

Also, it's good to note they said they tried 'multiple' other health systems and they chose this as the best one. I'm not a game developer but when they've tried many avenue's and they find one that works, I'm happy with their choice especially when it makes sense and has proper application like the globes do. While it might not be realistic, not many of the options are but when it comes to gameplay vs realism I'd 100% every single time take a good TESTED mechanic over something that would make playing inferior as to appease a few peoples realism festish flying around now.. Just some more thoughts.
