It was like this for me between the LOTR movies, knowing that right after I watch one I have a year to wait until the next one. I hated the wait, but at least while we wait "hopefully" Blizzard is making one hell of a game that we all will dive into with bloody arms and not want to let go. I spent almost 3 years playing WOW, and wonder where the time went.
It will also eat quite a bit of my time, it just bugs me that people who play just dont understand why people play games so much, they will never know when it comes to games like this.
For me leveling in D2 was a hell alot more fun that in WOW, until the exp increase. But 99 seems like a nice goal to keep with the similarities to D2. I never got a char to 99, had a lot of 80's chars but never got there.
I am just hoping it will be so good, that it will have a fun replay value.
Honestly I don't recall so many people bitching about Diablo II's art before it launched. I don't know what is it with this generation that people suddenly want the game catered to their individual needs. Just sit back, shut the fuck up, and wait til you see the final game before you make judgments.
Kinda what he said. It hasnt even been a week since launch and sooo many complaints. If the game was coming out tomorrow there would be alot to say about the direction of the game.
True. I had no problem with grinding the first couple times I played the game until about level 80-85, and that was with 1-3 players. Now, I have a hard time staying focused 40-60 with 8 players
That's good. Just because you don't plow through the monsters, and never stop unless your stamina gets low doesn't mean it isn't as fast paced. Fast paced, to me, doesn't just mean how fast I get through a level; to me it means keeping the adrenaline going, and the interest. So, since they seem to want to be adding strategy, and actual skill the game, I think that'll be so much more for the better. And, definately not "slow paced".
Sorry I meant WOW, they made it easier to level from 20 to 60. Didnt mean D2
I know for me, as soon as I get the game and login im just gona walk around and check crap out, probably try every character to see what they are like. Then pick a class and head in, most of D3 was exploration and of course while exploring you had to kill everything in sight hence exp and leveling. I am hoping that experience is based more on grinding mounds and mounds of corpses then quests which gave you items, skills etc... in D2.
We dont want a WOW clone, we want D3 to be specific from WOW. I played WOW for 3 damn years I need something different. And if D3 is going to be what I think it is, I will live D3 for quite a while.
I cancelled my WOW account about 4 months back, been playing Xbox 360. Too Human comes out soon and Fable 2. Maybe Warhammer Online, I dont plan on getting the WOTLK expac since D3 is coming out, but that also depends on the release date. Crossing fingers, for it to be out in at least a year.
You guys think there will be alot of grinding going on or possibly easier leveling? I know Diablo is about grinding, but D3 might make it different. I know for me I did alot of cow runs and baal runs, which were a staple to get throught the higher levels. I guess one thing depends on the level cap, hoping 99 would be nice.
I don't want to have to try and experience WOW leveling again, even though they made it easier in hell a couple patches back.
This could hurt or help the game. If they have their own direction and then decide due to fans wanting a change, it could delay the game even longer. If they do decide to make some subtle changes that would be cool, but the problem is we are looking at a 20 minute gameplay trailer and making judgements on that, what if the rest of the game is different? what if the setting gets darker and more brooding as the game moves along. I think it is way to quick to pass judgement on the art style this early. Just my opinion.
Diablo 3 will release in June/July 2009. It will not have a monthly fee. It will bring back at least 1 maybe 2 of the original classes from Diablo 2, and possibly 1 more new character. Diablo 3 will be better and sell more copies than WOTLK.
I did find the following information on ign.com about the team working on Diablo 3.
Development on Diablo III began way back when Blizzard North was still around and currently the team working on it consists of around 50 people. Initially the game's visual design was closer to the older games than what we saw in the gameplay demonstration. "We probably did three rev[ision]s on the visual direction until we got to this and now we're really happy with it," said Pardo
The announcement of our projects is usually when it's time for that game to be announced," said Pardo. "This project has been going for a while and it finally got to the point where it felt like it's time to announce the game. We kind of have this rule of, ideally, we announce a game a year to a year and a half before the game comes out. That's our theory,
