The characters and armor look like they were lifted directly out of WoW. Several textures and that one statue that looks ilke a sitting griffon should be detailed a lot better. The rest of it is alright, just please show us another screenshot of something further into the game soon so we can rest easier at night knowing there's something gloomier waiting for us.
They have to wait long enough to create a media circus, but not so long that lots of non-fans get bored of waiting. I'm guessing it'll be at least a year, but less than 3. Maybe open beta in a year or so...
Bringing in those 'mechanical' improvements isn't a bad thing. The trade system in D2 sucked and something similar to an AH would be a huge improvement, for example. What we don't want to see is generic classes with no unique skills; generic, bright, happy areas; mind-numbing repetitive quests and all the other things that make WoW loved and hated by so many. For the most part Blizzard has done a good job with D3, but seeing those graphics is enough to drive some of us into an anti-WoW frenzy.
If the game's supposed to get darker, Blizzard could have posted a SINGLE picture from later in the game somewhere to show us that the graphics don't suck all the way through. Since we have nothing to go on except what we've seen so far, and since we don't want the whole game looking that way, and since the time to change the look of the game is NOW not after the game is released, then yes it's pretty reasonable to bitch and moan as much as possible about it now so maybe somebody there will actually pay attention.
Why is there still any argument about this? If you don't give a flying carp about the graphics go play a text game. If you do and you like the graphics, go play WoW.
