I want monster on monster action as much as anyone else, and it would certainly bring some interesting strategy into the game!). However, there's a possibility that this is not what Bashiok is talking about. Possible, not definite.
It could be that they've expanded on the Barbarians fighting out in the world idea, which seems likely given the way the trailers pan out and the "mercenaries" that you pick up along the way. It'd be interesting to go to the Amazon's home, for instance (yeah, I know we're not going there), and find them slaughtering away. Even better if they went on quests, that would succeed or fail depending on if you join them or clear their paths or just according to how well they fight and I think I'm getting carried away now.
Anyway, I reckon monsters would be cool, npcs are probably more likely. Both would roxor.

Just wondering if anyone else ever tried a party of Necromancers?
Myself and a few friends did it for kicks, and we cleared normal in no time - and decided that it was an awful lot of fun. There was something so satisfying about the screen being filled with skellies, and we just stood there and watched it all.
Main problem is the Maggot Lair - that was long and laborious because the damn things wouldn't walk past each other. Skeletons are too polite to shove!
Aside from that, only one of us died with any frequency, because she kept attacking baddies no matter how often we told her to just stay back (plus she was ten levels behind the rest of us, so died VERY quick).
Only at big bosses did we have to go back and get refills of skellies; I think Diablo with his pink lightning of hurtiness was the worst.
So, yeah, was just wondering if anyone else had done it.
