posted a message on Exceptionals/Elites in DIII
Hmm, interesting. I haven't heard anything regarding this. I can't even recall any confirmation on the existance of exceptionals and elites.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the models were re-used. As long as there was still plenty to choose from, it wouldn't bother me. It would be cool if they did all have unique models, but I'd prefer they spend their time on more important things.

Thanks folks! Yeah, I keep trying to get myself do something Diablo-related. Hard to find the time with college and such, but I definitely will as soon a sI can. I drew an Act II Merc not too far back but it just came out boring.

Any suggestions of what I should do?

    sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

please try to learn mechanics before you talk about them
Please learn to read before you talk about my post. I didn't refer to any specific MMO, I just said that that was an MMO mechanic (and it is.)

Besides, Diablo doesn't have res skills, so the only thing equatable to rezing in diablo when compared to WoW or whatever IS rezing at the healer.

I don't see what point you're trying to make, actually.

By the time you get a copy shipped to your door all the good (or even decent) names will be taken.
Uh, you pick up pre-orders. It just gaurantees you get a copy in case the game sells out.

I'm still a fledgling in the art game, constantly trying to get better. You've already seen some of this in my avatar and sig, but anyway, here are some bigger versions of some digital paintings I've done:

posted a message on Strong Evidence for 2009 Diablo 3 Release
I don't know, through tricky quoting you could get it to seem like anything you want is going to happen. I just don't see it, though.

Diablo III just doesn't seem at all done.
Things we know they're not done on:
    -Still concepting female monk
-In that same article he mentions the fifth class might be a returning thing - but also says that might change. if the fifth class is still this uncertain then surely they have a lot of work to do.
    -Death penalty system
    -Worked out economy
etc. There's all kinds of things we can assume aren't done yet, too. Probably tons of creatures, acts beyond A2, etc, etc. There's a lot. It can't be done within the next few months. The few months before a game's release is all about last minute testing and packaging, they'd have to be essentially done with it.

But yeah, here's hoping you're right.

I'm not into the whole MMO mechanic of being weakened for a period of time (usually like 15 minutes). I hope they don't do that, it wouldn't really work for Diablo anyway since you could just leave and come back.

I hope they think of something though, death should be more than a minor inconvenience. But, I'll be playing hardcore so it doesn't make a difference to me.

You must not remember Diablo II very well. The maximum amount of players in a game was 8. Of course, everyone could have one NPC mercenary, and there are NPCs in towns, so it might look like 25-50 people, but yeah, the number was 8. And so far, the only thing we know for sure is there will be 4 players in Diablo III, though some suspect that will be increased. Gamestop's '1-6' is likely just a wild guess.

obviously it couldn't be named Apache though, seeing as how Indians (or whatever the politically correct term is now) don't exist in the world of Sanctuary..

That? was an? amusing interview?, thanks for? sharing.
Indeed. I read this interview like Ron Burgundy, can't help but make everything sound like a question.

Anyway, yes, interesting read. I think censorship sucks, and personally wouldn't ever want to tone down gore for audiences like Germany or Australia, but, that is kind of cruel to the people who live in those places who want to play the game, even if it is wildly censored.

As for his daughter playing D3... my first PC game was DOOM, followed by the original Diablo. It never really phased me, I turned out alright, right? Yeah, sure, let's go with yes. But it is refreshing to see a parent that actually does pay attention to what they're children are playing, instead of those parents who let their kids play M games and then get mad at the developers when it turns out there's blood in it.

    First thoughts:
Aghh, noo! No more MMO bullshit in Diablo!

    Second thought:
This isn't going to affect me much. Sure, I would like to keep high-level items I've used to sell or use on a new character, but that's exactly what they're trying to prevent, so it'll probably be good for the economy.

It will just make me put extra thought into equipping an item at high levels.

Besides, being a hardcore player, getting to level 85 doesn't happen too often.

Only so many times you can kill a bad guy and resurrect him before it becomes pure cheese.
So far he has died twice, which means he was resurrected once. Meaning that number would be bumped up to 2 if he were in Diablo III.

I don't think that classifies as pure cheese just yet.

To a lot of lore junkies and people comfortable with the world of sanctuary, no, a Diablo game doesn't need Diablo. But, I think to the common audience, which will contain plenty of players new to the series thanks to the popularity of WoW, I think it would just seem stupid. And i don't think Blizzard is stupid.

My money is on Diablo being in D3.

posted a message on Bashiok Explains Monk Class Not From 'Hellfire'.
    Quote from "Kazamu" »
This is one of the things that really annoyed me when I was reading web articles regarding Diablo III's new class. Everyone always talks about / compares with the "old" Monk from Hellfire, but if you look at the Hellfire disc (and/or box), there is NO mention of Blizzard. Rather, what you'll find is that Sierra, NOT Blizzard, developed Diablo: Hellfire. Blizzard only gave them the okay to make it.

Additionally, another way people could have found this out is by checking Blizzard's website. Nowhere can support for Diablo: Hellfire be found. This is actually kind of disappointing though, because as it turns out Sierra hasn't really been supporting it either, so with all of the Diablo patches, Hellfire has gotten rather bugged as a result.
I wouldn't be so harsh on people. I'm sure a lot of them realized Hellfire wasn't developed by Blizzard, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of this class being a continuation of that one, and also just because it had a different developer doesn't always mean it's non-canon (in this case it does, but not everyone is aware of that.)

It is kind of clear right off the bat that these monks share nothing but the name, but I still wouldn't be too harsh on the people who didn't realize Hellfire was non-canon.

I personally don't see the difference between arrows and bullets. it would still be in the same style as the game just different name and ammunition type.
Bullets travel faster than arrows. Guns require both bullets and gun powder, not to mention maintenance. You can't have guns without gun powder - so that would mean we'd be seeing all the other effects black powder would have on the world, too. Old guns have high rates of jamming and backfiring and are very unreliable.

It would change the entire world of Sanctuary, and that's something I sure don't want.
